This was so useful. I have park assist on my VW touran but because I have a mobility scooter with hoist in the boot, I often have to drive into a space (3rd option you demonstrated) but I was never shown how to use park assist in that way. Thank you so much

I find this technique very good. I have a Volkswagen e-Golf myself and it has a parking assistant called "Park Assist", including parking assistance and park exit assistant.The only thing that bothers me is that you can only park perpendicularly or orthogonal. But if you park at an angle, i.e. diagonally from yourself, the technology fails here. That's how it is for me at work, for example. We have diagonal parking spaces and the parking assistant can't handle it. It sees the parking space as a perpendicular parking space, which is not correct.
I find that you have to keep going abit further past the car next the space slowly and it picks it up then

I'm a proud new owner of a new 2017 Passat SEL Premium 1.8t. I love my car. I love the VW brand in general. However after watching this video it saddens me that VW doesn't offer the Passat hatchback in the USA. I would totally trade mine in tomorrow if they offered it here in the USA with 4 motion. Come on VW bring it here. All we get is the little brother.
Its a wagon, or Estate as the euros refer to it. I myself own a Jetta Sportswagen and previously a 03 Passat wagon. I think these updated Passat wagons would have been a better choice vs the Jetta sportswagens.

Is there a version of this that doesn't have cameras on the main Nav screen, 2015 maybe?
Whats more impressive is if you get the trailer assist feature, it will control the steering required to back a trailer or caravan into a space at any angle using your mirror controller to select that angle. I'm surprised that the park assist doesn't include the multi angle function. Maybe it does now bcos I had my car in 2016. He doesn't tell you that you must select parallel or bay parking, also he doesn't mention that if you have start/stop you have to deactivate it otherwise when it stops it also stops the park assist function. All minor issues to a btilliantvsystem though to be fair.

ack on Sir your third demonstration when you park frontwards ( Horizontal ) you can get stuck you said and why would i switch off the park assist i tried this with my VW T - cross park assist would not show as the steering assist disabled so i switched back on the park assist and worked showing steering is taken over enabled so why would i park at a right angle into the space which does not make sense? please explain this then!!!!
Sir if there are no other parked cars can the park assist function work by sensing the white lanes or must there be other cars parked i looked in my owners manual on the VW T - CROSS 2019 SURELY IT SHOULD DETECT PARKING WHITE LINES BUT TO NO AVAIL IN THE OWNERS MANUAL?
I don't think it can. I think there must be at least another car. That's what I found anyway, but maybe I'm using it wrong or missing something.
that's not diagonal. That's perpendicular (90 degrees).

maybe a stupid question... i bought a passat yesterday, it only recognizes side parking. is there a button i need to press for other parking positions?
I think there is only one button for this system.
@@svsv123 didn't know that there are versions with both park positions. some only have side parking. AND to answer my own question, a double click on the park pilot button changes to parallel park or side park. my passat has both options. 😁

A feature that most people use only once and just for fun.
Dude I'm using it everyday. It's really useful for tight parking spots and it also tells you if the spot is too small for your car so you don't have to try it

No mention of the need to select your parking situation on the main display before attempting to park my 2016 Tiguan with park assist. Read the book watched the videos, no help, it would only do a parallel park. No good in the underground car park. Finally found that I had to first select the required parking situation on the main display. Success!! I just stumbled on it. No thanks to VW. The official book spends most of it’s time with warnings with only a brief explanation of the facts you need to know and the symbols are so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass to make them out. Wonderfull car, pity you have to guess how to use it’s features.
That's right you do have to choose, which they should tell you on this video. When I got my passat in 2016, our local VW dealers didnt fully understand how the adaptive cruise control worked properly and none had the slightest idea how the car-net function was set up. I had to get onto VW themselves who sent me a manual on how to set it up.
My 2014 Tiguan does not need to do this, it automatically picks the situation by the space between the vehicles using sensor

That’s not correct, he didn’t take over the steering until the system prompted. That’s how it works, I know that as I use it often.
Oh well. If you are experienced driver this feature works so strange with all the onscreen instructions.. Its so much more effortless and automatic to park myself.
I’m experienced and can park. But for fun I use this sometimes, it’s worth it just for that.. a bit of fun which seems to be missing in cars today..
All videos about this feature do a terrible job of telling you how and when the car is telling you to brake. When it reverses into the space before moving forward, do you need to brake to a stop yourself to prevent hitting the car behind? Seems like doing so at the wrong moment could disengage the Park Assist...
Yes I believe you brake it yourself . it says on the video we determine the speed and the brake
You basically break to stop the car once the task bar on the screen runs out and it beeps.
It seems the system works only on one side of the road
no, you can use the turn signal to park on the other side.
Its just quicker to park yourself though

Hi! I own Tiguan in Russia. I don't like that progress bar on dashboard's screen right behind the steering. When steering spins it's hard to watch for progress bar. Why don't to put this progress bar to the center screen? Also, it's so stupid when car can find the space to park in unbelievable place between cars parked in random direction, but when I have a special parking place with white lines and 2 perfectly parked cars between it my car says me "f*ck you, there is no space to park".

So why didn't the parking system choose the least resistance way? Just pass all those cars and you have a sea of room with alot of free parking space.
It can't identify parking spaces. It can't read lines. It can only park between two cars. If there are two spaces between two cars, it will park right in the middle, i.e. double park.
@@lostn65 I don't think it needs 2 cars. I have found that just one other car is enough.
Parallel park is such a simple process...really! What's next, the car gonna drive up to the door and the seat come out so I can sit down without getting in.
In case you aren't aware, some cars now can completely drive themselves.
Very funny that it's a VW of 2016. I would like to welcome it to 2015 Opel Corsa 1.0T that does that from 2015 for both reverse and parallel parking, blind spot sensors, etc. I have it. The question is, does the VW Polo do that in 2018? The answer is NO 😂

What is "shitbox corsa", another way to see that you are the one that is cocooned bcos you call a B segment hatchback a shitbox, you are so uninformed and you must know that there are different segments of cars and levels, all have their names. If we talking about Audi A7 3.0, that doesnt make a Opel Corsa a shitbox bcos they dont not compare to each other except for the luxury features found in the corsa you can compare to big cars, and in its segment its definately not.

I cant believe all the sexist (disparaging to women) remarks here. Yes I can parallel park well but I use the auto park often as city parking where I live, is very tight and width of parks very narrow. I never totally trust it however. Once I found myself reversed up the footpath (previous Golf). The other stuff I have never used - reverse angle park assist, help getting out of tight parking (when someone else has boxed you in) but I would like to. The display on this car is totally different from my Golf 7 and, quite frankly, the user manual is shit. Finally, most of the bashed up cars in my area are owned and driven by men. And all the damage done to mine has been done by touchy feely male drivers.

More Junk to go wrong!! and adds more to the cost of the Vehicle. After having 2 VW Vehicles with problems with Stop/Start & Assist Braking and putting me in Danger! I will NOT BUY a new Vehicle again!! Till you can Opt out of these Junk and not have a vehicle that is connected
