    Swimming is unique in the sports world due to asymmetric breathing requirements.
    We have less than a second for air intake in Butterfly.
    In every other sport, breathing is symmetrical for intake and exhaust.
    I do hypoxic training drills whenever possible to increase lung efficiency.

    A good dry land workout I've found that helps is using the Concept 2 rower. Especially if you distances like 1,000 or 2,000 meter workouts. In rowing there is no avoiding using your legs so that helps build your wind. Also, when you're rowing which is a pulling movement so I've found it has helped my freestyle pull as well.

    I just ordered an Aerofit from the link. I grew up as a swimmer, but in my late 30's I was in a bike accident which collapsed both lungs. I'm now in my late 50's learning to swim again. I never went back after my accident as I lose my breath very quickly. Now I go really slow to get use to it again. I can do other excersises to raise my heart rate, but the breathing keeps me from swimming. I hope this helps. I would love to be able to do a flipturn again and not run out of air.

    I started to swim more intense in the last few months I swim mostly breaststroke. What do you think it's a good idea to breath only in every second stroke, this could help improve my time? The freestyle is very challenging for me so I would stick with the breaststroke until I don't reach a really good level on this.

    • @FaresKsebati
      @FaresKsebati  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Istvan! Breathing every stroke is a technical requirement for breaststroke, but it is your workout, not a race :) Check out this video for more freestyle breathing tips: th-cam.com/video/V1kdWWYdWEU/w-d-xo.html

    • @IstvanWeisz_logoby
      @IstvanWeisz_logoby ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't wanted to share this because it's a bit too personal but you're right to understand fully my question I have to tell that I got stroke when I was born and my left side paralyzed so a bit challenging for me to swim in strokes like the standard backstroke or freestyle where I don't use my both arms together. I definitely don't to compete with anyone, the only reason why I want to swim faster is that I don't want to spend 3 hours in the water every day. As far as I know 3000m can be done in 1 hour, so my goal is 1.5 hour for 3000m.

    Thanks for your videos. When I practice bubbling or breathing underwater, I have to stop for a second. But when I stop for a second umderwater, I am not able to start again. I am only able to breath out again after I gulp some empty air. Or I have to come out, gulp little air and do bubbling again. I don't know how else to explain this problem. Can you tell me how to handle this?

    • @FaresKsebati
      @FaresKsebati  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep practicing! You may just be running out of air quickly, so lifting your head and taking a breath should help! As you get more experienced, you'll be able to extend your exhale longer so your head stays under for longer.

    • @04611A0272
      @04611A0272 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FaresKsebati Thanks for your quick response. I know I got more air. I can still exhale even after coming out. But I some how feel like I am airlocked from exhaling even though my lungs are full. I stop exhaling underwater by using my soft palate(I think). Somehow, I am not able undo that easily. I am able to do that only after gulping even a tiny amount of air in my closed mouth. Again, I am not sure if I am explaining this correctly. But I will keep practicing. If you have any tricks for this, please let me know.
