Rightly said ,breathing is the most difficult part which takes lot of practice , consistency and patience. Kicks and arms movement is faster to learn n adapt but breathing skill takes time since we are not use to breathing in n out of water so it doesn't come naturally to us. But as wise men say practice makes one perfect, keep practicing....
Incorporating the "walk" stroke is a very helpful intermediary step before taking on a kickboard. Enables you to continue focusing on breathing before you move on to breathing with a kickboard.
Thanks, ma'am, for making this video. I started swim learning at the age of 36. I learnt floating, kicking and hand movement in 4 days. But unable to breath. 15 days passed, still unable to take side breath. When I take face out of water for breath leg sinks and I stop floating. As I open mouth for breath lot of water enters my mouth. I am struggling to take breath. I am unable to do all 3 task simultaneously - kicking, hand movement and breathing. Now I will try this in pool. Hopefully, I will be successful now.
@@voyger2561 yes, ma'am. It worked. But it took one month. After one month practice, Now I can swim without stop. I have learnt side breath. I am from Delhi. Here swimming pool are open April to September only. Now I will start practice again from April 2024. Thanks for your video.
I'm 55. I started learning swimming from April 24. It took almost three months to take side Breathing. Next problem is exhaustion. I use to go 5 to 10m in one go. Then the length increased gradually. In November 24 I am able to swim 37m in one go. My target for 2024 is to swim 50m in one go without break.
This is the best video of freestyle breathing. Precise and straight to the point. Beginner tip to look at the shoulder while turning worked for me. I might have watched countless videos on turning, breathing, etc.
Watching a dozen other videos and FINALLY someone did not just explain but demonstrated exactly what we needed to do. I can't tell you how life changing this is going to be for me. thank you.
I have seen many professional videos which explain that when we move our head to the side, we have to keep half the eye inside and breath. The best separator is having the half of your swimming gaggles in the water when you turn on your third, fourth or second(fully up to you) breathing turn. Not the full head turn. Other than that, very good video, very practical illustration of walk and drill practice
Always struggled with breathing in the front crawl and never learned it properly. Tried following the advice on TH-cam of "keep one goggle lens in the water", but I think that technique requires good forward speed to get a bow wave going, precise head angle, and maybe some other stuff I'm not aware of. All I know is that the "one lens in" advice ends with me swallowing water. Glad to find a video that for beginners that actually thinks about what a beginner needs to get started and iteratively improve their technique, not just showing the end product.
side breathing is so challanging that now i've just started & this is my 10th day & i'm still unable to do it correctly. -either while taking breathe, i lift my face up on surface & my lower body sinks. -even after taking single breath, my momentum gets lost/reduced that i'm not able to move forward & again due to panic..ran out of breath. -even while doing side breathing, i drank almost 100ml pool water within 30mins!! -mostly while doing all things simultaneously is really challenging, i sometimes unconsciously forget to do kicking while taking breath or stop doing hand movement & eventually sinks down with drinking hell lot of water!!
Such a great video, I swim 🏊🏾 but struggle with front crawl due too my breathing. First video I’ve seen which she demonstrates, how too breath in clarity. Will incorporate this method wish me luck 🥷
Thank you, turning to breathe is my challenge, your tutorial was very helpful and I like that you said it will take some time to get it right, I will keep trying
These two techniques are something I have not seen in any other instructional video * Having the ear flat in a way where you are sleeping on your arm. * Looking at the non-extended arms shoulder while taking the breath.
Thank-you so much! Your videos are just what we beginners need. I was nervous and wasn't landing right. Learned it from you. Now side breathing is taking time. In self doubt again. But like you said, it takes practice & patience.
Four strokes for one breath allows for a swimmer to see only one side of the pool whereas breathing after 3 strokes allow for eye sight on both sides of the swimmer.
What should also be mentioned is that exhaling is happening fully under water through both the mouth AND the nose so when you get your head out of the water and tilt it on the side you don't waste time exhaling but immediately inhale deeply this part is crucial as you got only few seconds to inhale.
Very well explained. Super flip turn at end of length. Please make a video about how to take a perfect flip turn for the next length to maintain the continuity of distance while doing freestyle.
I grew up watching Nisha mam in Olympics in doordarshan ! Today i became her student at 34 yrs because of decathlon and TH-cam !! Thanks mam..
How?
@@bharathigowda487 because of her tips i stopped sinking and started swimming !
That's the magic of TH-cam! It is truly a university.

Thank you. Really needed this.
Thank you i was starting to feel dejected & like something is wrong with me
If you're looking at swimming butterfly out of all is the hardest. Breathing is quite easy but when you're starting, yeah it's a little hard
When i do this i get water in my ears what to do ?
Practice makes things permanent. Not perfect. You have to be mindful of what you are doing.

As a beginner, this is THE best video for learning how t o breathe while swimming! Thank you!

i have just started my swimming lessons. these videos are crisp, short and address every issue a beginner faces. thank you very much
It's not easy I still drinking water each time I turn to the side
Same here
Me too
I was told by a friend when being observed that it’s because I’m not kicking fast enough
Me too
Try to rotate the head on both side , as per my self experience make it habit , water will not enter , your head will rise a little above water
simple yet most effective way of explaining tough things....great

Beginners cannot do the head turn you explained. They will end up swallowing water and panicking, What she is saying is for beginner learners
Exactly, cuz the video is just for beginners
