The Korean wedding ceremony is literally the best special occasion i've ever seen. Not only the best wedding ceremony, like the most beautiful, intricate and impressive ceremony E V E R.
You should look at different cultures weddings, Indian and Arabs have intricate weddings also that last up to 7 days!!! it's so beautiful to see how different cultures interpret marriages. Maybe it's cause I grew up in the western culture, but we have the lamest LOL it's like the vows don't even mean anything cause people just go off and cheat or divorce after and marry again and again to other people. There is something so beautiful about how much culture plays a significant role in other people's cultures.
The majority of Korean weddings are not like this these days. I've been to a handful and they last like 3 hours tops. You watch a quick ceremony, have a quick meal and leave.

If you’re talking about Megan, she is like the DEFINITION of cultural appreciation, not appropriation. Are you a Korean? Is she being offensive by ignorantly disrespecting your culture?? I doubt it. If she were actually being problematic I’m pretty sure one of her countless Korean friends, her Korean in-laws, or the Korean she was getting married to would have stopped her. Sharing and admiring other cultures is not a bad thing and if you think it is, please refrain from ever eating pizza if you’re not Italian, tacos if you’re not Mexican, sushi if you’re not Japanese and so on.

Out of her respect for our culture and deep history, she happily obliged in this traditional Korean wedding, which unfortunately isn't practiced to this extent any more in a lot of Korean weddings. But people need to relax with this "cultural appropriation" criticism which is taken totally out of context. Cultural appropriation is taking another culture's activity, foods, history, style, etc and then claiming it's their own. Sort of what Italians did with Chinese food when Marco Polo visited China, took many of the recipes including dishes involving noodles and flat breads (like Spaghetti, pizza, etc), then changing the names and minimally altering the recipe and calling it their own. Thats cultural appropriation. All this other nonsense about cultural appropriation is so blown out of proportion it's seriously ludicrous.

Im sorry, I disagree with just doing one wedding or ceremony when you are an interracial couple. Where ever you come from, you need to celebrate your wedding in both cultures and not just one. All cultures have something beautiful and magnificence about them. And people from the other side of the world needs to grab hold of that. I would have loved if she would have incorporated some of the American traditions in there and some African American traditions in there, as she is half white and half black.

Many Koreans in US have western weddings and then traditional Korean ceremony(pyebaek) afterwards or the night before, but not this entire extravagant traditional wedding.

It used to be. Nowadays people have such grand weddings and breaking the bank to show off the grandness rather than the meaningful aspects. To each their own. How they display their affections and union is for the couple to decide, but I would hate to see divorce happen after someone spends thousands of dollars on a wedding. Personally, I like a smaller more intimate wedding since it showcases the couple and becoming family.
@@Rinsuki yes exactly! my wedding was small, only the people that were closest to us were there and we wouldn't of wanted it any other way. We don't believe on divorce, to us once you've committed to one person it's for eternity.

@@lemontree6686 I am not a religious person at all, obviously if you're living in a house with someone who doesn't respect you and you didn't see that way early on then yes of course divorce! cheating is complicated there's many circumstances that can lead to that but I feel like counseling would be my first step not divorce. Now as far as "falling out of love" that's one of the biggest problems in this era. everyone is so quick about making life altering decisions without thinking everything clearly, I'm not saying it can't happen but when you're in a long mature relationship love changes, it evolves into something way different than when you're in your "honeymoon stage" but if you TRULY loved that person one day why not try everything to fall in love with that person all over before jumping into getting a divorce? I don't believe in divorce because i feel like there's so much you can do first before undoing a commitment that should not be taken lightly. Marriage is sacred to my husband and I :)
