@@vaibhavkhinvasara9926 why buy a set of pre lubed switches for a lube station you r probably not going to use because maybe you buy multiple sets of switches but many don t when you can just buy your switches and then buy a lube station for it
Welp you've talked me into buying yet another product. Can't wait to put these on my gmmk pro when I get it, and speaking of the gmmk pro I was really glad to see you on their breakdown stream the other day and really happy to see how genuinely excited about the product you are. I watched the whole stream and was really happy to see that there was someone there that was really one of us and was looking at it more from an enthusiast perspective. Love what you do here and can't wait to see you grow as a channel on here. You have a good day/night/whatever it is where you are.
Regarding the issue with switch orientation mentioned at 4:38, I just got some caps and there is nothing strange about them. They have the same orientation as every other switch I've ever seen, which means there will be no clearance problems with cherry profile keycaps on a pcb with south-facing LEDs. There will presumably be clearance problems on lower-end north-facing boards, but that's true for most other switches too.
@@SwitchandClickOfficial You could even try having a black mask or something wipe up once the camera isn't picking anything up or make sure that there are a couple of frames where the camera has no frame of reference for its orientation, might help you get around the feeling that there was a cut in that transition. It's a great idea, I'm just popping in some polish ideas for you :)
I am not sure if you meant to say this in 4:38 but usually north/south facing refers to the way the switches situated on the PCB. These switches can be south facing too if the PCB is south facing. Just a clarification I guess.
@9:52 "I'm surprised that the milky yellow actually sounds scratchier or actually feels scratchier than the milky yellows" Did you mean the cap golden yellows are scratchier than the cap milky yellows, Or that the cap milky yellows are scratchier than plain gateron milky yellows?
3:05 that is a HHKB thing and i hope more keyboards have the backspace closer to the enter key, since it allows a 60% kb to have a distinct tilde/grave key. Kinda like those kb with 1 unit backspace but actually functional since the enter key is like the ANSI key so you have space for a backspace
These are V1 right? I just ordered the Yellow Caps V2 and I'm pretty excited to get them. It seems they fixed the scratchiness problem of V1 by remaking the sliders. The inside of this switches look so alien to me, I don't totally get them. Did they do the cap thing for acustics?
These are a welcome innovation and I'm excited to give them a try. Mad overkill on that packaging, though. I'd like to see that as an option - the cases seem like they would actually be great if you have a collection to show off or as a tester - but totally unnecessary to ship the things in.
if possible, please make an in-depth tutorial on how to clean mech keyboards that are non hot swappable switches, I'm really scared on removing the screws
I was pretty hesitant on getting these because the first iteration of any product is subject to have issues. But it seems like KBDfans did a decent job with this switch!
I was using just Boya by M1 straight into the camera, then connected it to a Zoom H1n recorder. Now we're using a RODE VideoMic Go on a mic stand with boom arm connected to the Zoom H1n recorder, so it's dual system now. I just sync in post
Your setup makes these Cap switches sound pretty good! Some early Billibilli reviews I saw made them sound very plasticky. Been meaning to get my hands on some.
Hi Betty, am planning to buy these after watching your review. Do you have a discount code or something that gives you commission? I remember buying my k6 with your previous code but forgot it and can't find
I think there's a discount code but we don't have anything for commission. I'll see if I can find it, it might not work on pre-order products keychronwireless.refr.cc/theswitchandclick
Great review, thanks. I am looking for my first mechanical KB and your videos help a lot. Would you recommend these or the milky browns for a first timer? Also, why do I look at the package and think Viterbi? I would love to have a split ortho :)
So I'm slightly confused, At about 6:10 you said that the milky ones are better for rgb, and then said that the switches are really good for a deep thoccy sound. Wich ones are better for that thocc?
very nice switches, i have a keychron k6 with gateron reds (spray lubed) and they sound pretty good. I want to try some new switches soon tho and thinking about tactiles but more on the silent side.. Can you do a review of Outemu Silent Forest? :D
soooo... are they worth getting for christmas? :) So far using Durock L7's in my Drop ctrl but i'm still searching for my holy grail linear switch... sadly gateron milk blacks were not what i was looking for
I haven't used those other ones, so I have no idea. Holy grail linear depends on preferences, but I've heard Tangerines, Gat Ink Blacks, Vintage Blacks, and NK Creams are all good ones
I like to use plasticine clay instead of foam for dampening these lower priced hotswap keyboards. The weight is super nice and gives em a "less cheap" feel.
@@SwitchandClickOfficial thanks, I've been doing it for a while. It goes back to the early audiophile headphone days when we used to make custom wood headphones with cheap (but solid) studio drivers. We tried rockwool, polyfil, everything really. Ultimately, you just can't mess with physics. Sound really only dampens with mass, i think that's why brass is so popular in this hobby. That said, feel free to play around with it. I do a thin layer and leave a small air gap if I want a thicker sound, smallee gap for silent builds. If you don't like it as heavy, since the stuff is very dense, then do a thin layer and put foam or cork on top of that. Cheers!
i have a question will these fit a keyboard like the mk61 which is a gateron switch only hot swappable but for (optical gaterons) will these stil fit or no ?
Hi I was wondering which switch is better gateron red or yellow, can you type good with gateron red, and Which is better for typing and gaming at the same time because of the epicdemic so I got lots of work to type but I also want to game so which one is better for typing and gaming
In my opinion the gateron yellow is better bc it’s the fastest switch and sounds good especially when it’s lubed but there both a budget option but the gateron red has a very long history and is more known but I haven’t heard any problem for the yellows but at the end it’s kind of a personal preference
reds a lot lighter than yellows. if you like more resistance but still a springy/bouncy switch, go with yellows lubed and filmed for all purpose. Reds are a lot lighter and faster and may be a bit better for gaming
3:22 that transition!!
Thank you! Someone noticed
The blind sound caparison was nice. I see why ink blacks are so sought after, they’re sound has a very tuned tone to them.
But you can also use the switch case as a lubing station.
Yeah haha
Yeah but it s pre lubed so it kinda defeats the point
