I was at this awesome show.....
Damn that’s dope
The song Free Bird was witten by Allen Collins and lead singer Ronnie Van Zant. It was inspired when Allen had a fight with hia GF Kathy. She asked him if he would remember her if she left.
Wow, you absolutely nailed it.Thank you.👏👏👏👏
I appreciate the love 🙏🏾
As of March 5, Gary Rossington passed all the original members of this band are together again. Fly free birds fly ha high… thank about this band I was nine years old when the plane crashed on October 20, 1977. My birthday is the day before. What a way to remember when it crashed. And what a way to remember when Gary passed. He passed the day after I had my stroke. Hell of a way to remember this band. Wonderful band.
One of the best reactions I've ever seen to this song . This song glues me to the screen. I remember the day the song came out. 68 now and still stompin my foot
Thank you I appreciate the love 🙏🏾
I was fortunate enough to see them 4 times ,each performance they gave the audience a 110% ! RIP my freebird brothers !❤
You understand it perfectly. Great reaction.
Thank you, I appreciate the support 🙏🏾
Yep. We had some real-ass music back in the day. The 70's were a wonderful time to grow up. Many reacters mention the one dude who is looking behind him, and question "what is he looking at? why would he turn around?" PERHAPS he wanted to see the thousands of scantily scad, california girls going mad wild. Just maybe. I would have turned around too (I am on my wife's account. I am 58).
Great reaction! You have an old soul and I appreciate that you felt how things have changed and things were more authentic back then without the cell phones and social media! I was just about to become a freshman in high school the year after that concert happened. Thank you man! You give me hope in younger generations! I was so fortunate to have grown up threw those awesome times and bands!
I appreciate the love fareal bro 🙏🏾
Unfortunately, 3 1/2 months later, the lead singer, Ronnie Van Zant and one of the three guitarists (in red pants), Steve Gaines, were killed in a plane crash. Steve’s sister, Cassie Gaines, background vocals was also killed. Miraculously, there were 26 survivors. They were the best.
There were 26 people on the plane, 20 survivors.
Ronnie would keep his eyes on the drummer and would let the solo go on until the drummer started to flag, then he would call a halt.
Not true. You listen to every live version of Freebird and Allen's riffs are the same. Ronnie was the master, but the mules knew the path. They never did anything halfway.
Great reaction and comments thank you.
I appreciate the support!
And about 4 months later, the plane crash that ended it all, killing 3 band members, including founder, and frontman/ singer Ronnie Van Zant, their new prodige guitar player (not that Gary and Allan weren't top dogs already,) Steve Gaines, and his sister Cassie, who sang backup vocals, plus the pilot and co-pilot. Those that lived were severely injured. In March of 2023...original guitarist Gary Rossington (seen here on the slide guitar), passed away. They're all free birds now.
The band dropped it where Ronnie said and not before or after. He was THE absolute leader. They had such discipline!
There were over 63 thousand people there that day. Only 3 months before the fatal plane crash. Us grandparents rocked way harder than you can imagine. And yes we were wild and carefree. Can you imagine paying $11 dollars to see this?
Damn $11 that’s insane for world class talent and entertainment of that magnitude
Cool show
Great job!
Much love 🙏🏾
Bro if you haven't yet. Check out acdc let there be rock live at river plate. Astonishing Angus young was 58 when he did that guitar solo.
Preach man! People today cant enjoy a live concert, like those a-holes that bring a camera (or even with the phone) to record the whole concert and probably will never see that shit again..
Excellent reaction, although I'm 12 days late to it.
I appreciate the support 🙏🏾
You're welcomed, and, thank you.@@juliussanders
Ronnie VanZant is the lead singer and was the leader of the band. Allen Collins guitar. Gary Rossington rhythm and slide guitars. Ed King bass. Bob Burns. drums, and percussion
Billy Powell piano. Thier last performance was South Carolina’s Greenville Memorial Auditorium on Oct. 19 1977 Free Bird lasted for 20 mins The next day boarded their plane that was unsafe the Fuel gauge was broke. The only way to check the fuel was with a stick. The plane ran out of fuel the engines were burning to rich and wasting precious fuel. One engine shut down then the other did. The plane went down over pine trees killing the members of the band, Ronnie Van Zant lead singer, guitarist Steve Gaines, vocalist Cassie Gaines, that day was the saddest day in Southern Rock. I was 20 when I heard about it on the radio. I cried like a baby.
Actually, that was Leon Wilkeson on bass. Ed did play bass on many tracks on the Pronounced album when Leon briefly left the band.
Thank you I have made the change@@Tuesdays_Gone
Also that's Artimus Pyle on drums.
Wow thanks again@@mikem8157 You are very knowledgeable on them.
@@mikem8157 yep. I didn’t even notice that.
This concert about three months Before they lost their lead singer ronnie van sand and great new And great no guitar steve gaines! # This the REAL Skynyrd!!!
You thonk Allen Collins play's a mean guitar. Check out Stevie Ray Vaughan live at El Mocambo Texas Flood. ❤ It will blow your mind 🐦 ❤.
When you trying to win never take your foot off the gas, if you do someone will pass you.
Three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd died in plane crash not long after the concert at Oakland.
Yea a few people mentioned that, such a sad thing to hear about
Play the baddest in the world even today 50 years later they the baddest in the world
Simply put .. don't ever pause during one of the greatest guitar solos in history .. Learn the law pal .. Peace .. I'm out

That actually is the number 1 rule.
You'll be droppin' viewers by the dozens.
The song is "dope" but you're not. Anybody who mumbles for two and a half minutes about how incompetent they are without playing any music is just unwanted shade. I couldn't stand it long enough to get to the music.
😂 another hatin mf that’s really a big supporter of mine…keep gaggin on me feels good 😂
