    It would be nice to hear about differences in isolation between tips. Also, some idea of relative size would be super helpful. Maybe pick one common tip as a baseline and list others as running larger, smaller, or around the same size as that one. For a given size, obviously. I don't know if it's a ranking thing, but how they're sold is always important. I am much more interested in buy a pack of multiple sizes than a single size since there isn't really a way to know what size to get until you've already bought a pack of the wrong size, not to mention that often to get just the right fit I use slightly different sizes in each ear. The xelastecs are great for that, since they sell a lot of sizes in different packs.

    As someone who tip rolls very often, I am glad you are planning to do a tier list. Some recommendations: NF Audio MS42, Radius Deep Mount, 7hz white cylindrical eartips that comes with the timeless, BGVP W01, Tanchjim T300T, and Softears UC, as well as the many already popular tips loved by the community, like the spinfits, final E tips, azla sedna tips, and jvc dots, etc. My personal favorites are the MS42, Easytips SS20, Infiter Variety Dot Pro, E-Pro ep01 and the Dunu S&S tips.

      Have you tried various sizes of the Softears UC? I bought the Large some time ago and haven't found an earphone where they get me even a minimum sealing, maybe this has happened to you and you tried a smaller or bigger size and worked perfecto, idk if the medium size will work better for me or is it something about the material and softness.

    Criteria - comfort and isolation (duh) but also how well they stay in as you move and talk, and how much sound they make as you move your jaw.

  • @oijans
    @oijans ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Very interesting. But not only should they fit your ears but also the iem nozzle. When trying to find eartips for the Galileo's I had trouble finding a pair that fit the 6mm nozzle without being too tight and at the same time fit my ears. The 4.5mm inner diameter eartips sometimes were too tight around the nozzle and a pair of 5.5mm ones just would not fit my ears. I'm probably making too much of an issue about this but it got to be very important to me when fitting the iem in my ears. The eartips needed to be long enough too because of the Galileo's short nozzle. Another discovery was that my left ear is just a tiny bit wider than my right so it is difficult to have the same comfortable fit for both ears with the same eartips. So I found that the best eartips were those that were soft enough to slide into the ears, creating the best seal and that did not deform when fitted on the iem nozzle. Most of the stock tips are pretty useless. so I am really looking forward to you grading the various tips you can find. It would have been interesting to know if the tips actually also did change the iem frequency response when measured. Take like the Galileo's and measure 10 different responses with 10 different eartips. Is it possible to detect a variation large enough to affect the sound? I am just curious. Great job focusing on eartips though.

    Gotta say, I was not expecting the Symbios to get the ranking they did. These have been an absolute blessing for me in comparison to something like SpinFits. I have very odd ear canals due to damage from surgery at a younger age, so getting a good seal is very difficult. I struggle finding tips that do well that aren't foam. I usually use Comply tips, but after finding the Symbios they have been all I use. They have the sound of a silicone with the seal of a foam for me. I don't have to fiddle a ton to reseal them like with silicones, don't need to worry as much about degradation as foams, and the price is perfect for what you get. My biggest gripe with them has been longevity when reusing them on other IEMs. The foam separates from the silicone after removing and reinstalling frequently, so finding your size and buying a 3-pack is pretty much essential. Even with that, these live on all my IEMs at this point.

  • @ROFLWAFFLELAWL4
    @ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wait you didn't even talk about what makes the iReep 01 so different lol. It's shaped completely different from other tips. Instead of the dome being a mushroom top its the complete opposite where the side that connects to the nozzle is actually completely sealed and is actually opened up on the end that enters the ear. The idea is that it'll mimic listening to speakers in a room as the high (and I believe some low end) will bounce back into the crevice of the eartip rather than just direct.
    It's super comfortable but A:B comparison you can tell you lose some peaks and very minimal but some detail. If you have some fatiguing IEMs I could see these being a nice way to tame them while being comfortable.
    Have you tried the Spinfit W1? Grabbed them with some Radius Deep Mounts when I was in Japan an the W1 might be my favorite Spinfit. I still like a double flange style but the W1 fit felt much better oddly.

  • @Minebork
    @Minebork ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Super important criterai for me would probaby be : sound isolation, how big are the sound changes ?, seal quality, comfort, price, quality(as in if they feel cheap or not and how long they seems to last), how well they stay in your ear(if they're slippery or not). That's about it I guess. Waiting for the list.

  • @sasakijung
    @sasakijung ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Criteria for Eartip is most importantly are Comfort and Seal. Then it come to little gimmick that Each eartips will offer; Nozzle Lengh, Bore Type (Narrow or Wide), Space inside the Tip itself, Material both inside and outside and how it feel inside our ear (some feel plasticky, smooth or rubberize. There are so many things that I can list but it will be very long.
    Some may not know that, some Eartip can fix the comfort the default IEM, especially IEM's Nozzle with short like TWS, I have this problem myself on some of iem that nozzle is too small and short.

      Yes Clarion for me too. aful p5's took on another whole demission with no bass changes, really solid mids/vocals and a whole crapload of increased treble lift/details/technicals. This and the comfort seemed much better than many spinfits and on par with the W1's, dunu's and of course much better than the included aful bunch. No slippage no dirt just pure goodness.

  • @INTERNETDWARF
    @INTERNETDWARF 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The other benefit of the silicon-covered foam tips is in preventing irritation of the ear canal. Foam tips give a great seal, but I can't stand them due to how abrasive they always are inside my ear. If I wear them for more than a couple of days, it gets irritated and itchy.
    Tips like the symbio are easier to put in, and don't irritate my ears. And are *almost* as good as the straight foams seal-wise.

  • @JoseFerreira-zb7wh
    @JoseFerreira-zb7wh ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I actually like the symbios. You have to warm them up a bit and roll them between your fingers before inserting though. also press them like you'd do with foam tips. When the foam expands you actually get a pretty good seal. They've helped with iems that i can't get to really fit and seal properly. (apart from xelastecs and foam they're the best i have in this department) They don't cut the high frequencys and enhance the lower ones like foams. And yes, longevity is better.

    I find that I have to use different eartips for different IEMs. I've kinda settled on JVC Spiral Dots, the Azla Sedna TPE, Spinfit CP100+, and the Spinfit W1. It's a very subjective experience for me, and I have to try different tips with my IEMs to find one that fits and sounds the best for that particular one.

    i have been underwhelmed by IEMs for the budget range.
    Previously i thought stock eartips should be the best, but i was wrong.
    i never liked Moondrop Chu and i think the Spring eartips is overrated.
    However, i am glad i followed your advice quite awhile ago to get better seal for any particular IEMs.
    i used Stock eartips of TRN MT1 on Moondrop Chu and the sound blows my mind.
    it immediately became my most reached IEM, usually i avoid from using it.
    Then the Spring eartips seem to give better sound for my other IEMs such as KZ EDX, TRN MT1, QKZ VK4, especially Samsung EO-IG955.
    All thanks to u.
    Now i have been shopping around for more eartips from KBear, TRN T-Eartips, OSTRY OS Series and some alternatives to SpinFit.

      Its so hard to find reviews on this channel sometimes lol. Products are broken up into unboxing vids with other IEMs, dedicated reviews, non dedicated reviews, rankings lists where the IEM hasn't even gotten a review yet

    Where do you even buy the metal tips dude? Just searched it up and it seems like something you'd just stumble on in a corner of a thrift store that happened to have them in stock. They're not in stock or purchasable anywhere

    Luckily my favorites are cheapies or semi free tips included with various sets. The Grey tips with the 1/2 red cores included with Fiio and Jade Audio sets are #1. Then there’s the Grey and red NiceHCK for $1 a set from Ali Express. Those 2 work on 100% of my iems. I also have Spinfits CP100 but they aren’t an improvement over the ones I mentioned. So that works in my favor. I’m not spending $600 per month on eartips like some people.

    I’m more concerned for a detachable small piece of something that goes in my ear being made of metal. Maybe this concern is unfounded, but I have had iem tips come apart in my ears before and had to fish them out blindly myself

    Timmy could you graph Ie200 with CP240 since you have one. To my ear it gave monstrous bass rumble and slam while sacrificing micro nuance and some details, which might be liking to bass heads but certainly not me. I'm curious to see the graph data to spot the difference. And wishing you a speedy recovery.

    In my opinion AFAIK, there is no "best" eartips. Given there's many reviewer put AET08 on "S" Tier list, which in my opinion is mediocre. I personally believe every single IEM has different "best" eartips.

    My favorites are Spinfit cp360 and W1, Springtips, and finally Dunu S&S. I tried Softears UC and while the fit it good it seems to suck out a noticeable amount of bass and lower mids. I would love to hear your opinion on eartip sound, because to me each one has it's own subtle "signature" that it applies to the IEM beyond just fit and seal.
