Best guide there is! One thing missing is more details on how insertion depth affects frequency response, as this can definitely make or break an IEM for an individual. You can tame bright IEMs by using tips that allow you to insert deeper, but this also lose some bass. In my experience basically shallower insertion -> more V shape, deeper insertion -> more flat (or mid-forward). This is all on the precondition that you get perfect seal.
Great point! I didn't want to get too deep (heh) into insertion depth, because I feel the variables with personal ear canal resonance and acoustic impedance are outside the scope of this basic guide.
Man you did such a great job. I mean keeping it as simple as you did. You taught me a lot. So thank you so so very much for Making this video for everyone!!!
One of the most useful guides on the platform, great job! I have really huge and deep earholes (sounds dirty) that even Dunu S&S size L is too small for me😂 perhaps I should try the XL.. but yeah this guide helped me especially in the skin department. I noticed that Sancai Balanced eartips rough texture is quite irritating for my ears. So I think my earholes are from the dry side. Been liking the Spinfit W1 the best for now but I got to try more different ones in the future.
Great video very informative. Just bought my first pair of IEM the QKZ x HBB can't get a proper seal with any of the ear tips it came with,im sure this video will help in choosing the correct ear tips 👍 thanks.
I recently bought my first multidriver IEM (The FIIO FH15). Because the nozzle is wider than I'm used to I have been on quite a journey to find eartips that work with my ears. My ear canals aren't the same size on both sides and my ear canals curve upward immediatly. I have trouble finding tips that seal without the opening sitting against the side of my ear canal. I'm now using the SS spinfits W1 for my right ear and MS spinfits W1 in my left ear.
For me also the IEM/Earbud makes a big difference and how deep they go into your ear shape wise. For example I use L sized tips with my Airpods Pro, M sized Tips with my IE600 and SS sized tips with my Mega5est. My earcanal seems to have a weird shape :D
@@leopotim862 thanks! Alcohol wipes or lukewarm water with mild soap, for grippy tips no alcohol wipes. You can also use boiling water, just turn it off when it boils, add tips, wait some seconds, rinse with lukewarm water.
For some reason I hate comparing ear tips. What sets would you recommend to someone to help narrow options? What types come with common IEM, such that I could swap to further decide what type fits and what doesn't ? Like KZ Castor, Tangzu Waner SG, Truthear Zero Red... I might try the W1 MS because I'm often between the two sizes. Are the tang san cai tips included with all Tangzu?
@@zmmmzmmmz a lot of sets come with the basic clones of Acoustune's AE07 eartips, almost all other budget IEM eartips are worse. And 07 clones is what you get with most sets up to 100 usd or even 150 usd. Tangzu is one of the few who include better, starting from the Xuan Ji at 50 usd. So narrowing down eartip options by buying IEMs isn't the best route. I'd recommend just picking up new popular eartips from sales here and there. Eartips are incredibly personal, so there's very little other people can do to truly help 🥲
Thanks for the in-depth guide on ear tips. What are some of the softest stem eartips could you recommend? With JVC Spiraldots, Spinfit (not the W1 or Omni as far as I can tell), symbio foam silicone clones and stock ear tips that feels medium soft, I get some soreness in my ear in less than an hour or so. Just an excellent and comprehensive video on this surprisingly important subject! Some talk about cables and burn in but l suspect this is the quickest way to improve sound quality, especially in the budget range of IEMs where i dwell 😊 I rocked the Clarion tips for quite a while and have just discovered the Kbear 07s which are very inexpensive and work great for me. Great for bass especially. The cylinder shape of the Dunu S&S don't fit my ears and so far I've not found a pair of foams that work for me either. So, as you say, it's very personal in terms of what works for who. Again, great work on the video!
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video! And you'd be very much correct in suspecting eartips matter a whole lot more. I'd go as far as to say burn-in and cables basically are margin-of-error stuff. I say this, because frankly there's no hard evidence for them, just listening experiences that can't be replicated (it doesn't matter that there's a few special cases, where a near-zero impedance driver is affected by different impedance cables etc. when pretty much all cables are vaguely around 1ohm and drivers somewhere around 10-30 ohm.) Burn-in does nothing. If it did, the drivers would come out sounding worse at least some of the time, but as we know, the claim is the sound is better, 100% of the time, makes no sense. And it's actually a really bad thing, if the drivers would change in sound after just a week of listening, that would mean they aren't durable at all. So rest easy, save your money for exploring different IEMs, or save even more by exploring EQ tuning :)
@@Jaawaudio Great points. I'm definitely not an audiophile so those elements are better left to them. Thank you for making the best eartip on the market, and also including full sets of both types, even with sets priced like the Xuan Nv, generous of you! Also, what is the 3rd type of Tangzu eartip you teased some months ago? 😅
Another factor I'd like to add which is a big one for me is ear canal opening while your jaws closed. I've had trouble with IEM fitment for years at this point and I failed to nail down what's causing it till eventually it hit me. My left ear canal becomes narrower more towards the inside compared to my right. It becomes more problematic since the opening on both of my ears are about the same. Need to test how you feel about different sizes and shapes, and when you find your comfort and fit, the next step is to look for similar shapes but different bore size etc. Eartips are far too personal, depending on your own ears, and your own experience and preference, that I could recommend any eartip, and I could be very wrong or very correct :)
I'm still struggling with eartips. The best experience I have so far is the Spinfit CP100+ extra small (XS) size. I haven't tried many of course. I've had Divinity Velvet, Spring Tips Moondrop, and KZ tips. Something about my right ear is weird/different. When it sealed perfectly, the sound entirely disappears as if there's no room for the air to resonate the sound. So I push in deeper and that somehow solves the problem (but it does get a bit uncomfortable. But that means I have to push it deep. At times, when I move it goes back to losing sound entirely. I don't know why that is to be honest. It's like there's a wall inside my ears that when I insert IEM, it gets stuck there. But when I push deeper, it gets over the wall and it sounds good. Any suggestion what eartips might fit in this case? (And this only happens in one ear. My left ear is just fine).
Unfortunately most eartips only come in Small Medium Large, some like Final TypeE come in 5 sizes, having ExtraSmall and ExtraLarge. Only very few come in 6-7 sizes. For example Hifigo store has Azla SednaEarfit Series eartips, that come in 6 sizes, SS, S, MS, M, ML, L. Currently Hifigo and Linsoul are the only stores I buy from, all my eartips are from them.
Right on time i found out your channel brother done subscribe.i have an issue where the eartips always stuck in my ear holes whenever i pull them out.after i double check i found out the eartips stem is loose not suitable for my tanchjim oxygen and i usually use L size eartips.could you recommend any L size eartips that fits my tanchjim oxygen nozzle?i prefer bass sound eartips.
Damn thats a crazy collection lol. I just got some Dunu S&S tips and smh wow they are trash. I thought the CP155 were awful but these are even worse. They only sound good if you push the IEM in with your fingers and hold them in but once you let go they just spring back out like a trampoline and then youre stuck with this distant flat thin treble only sound. I think I might have to cut them with scissors or something. I dont see how anyone can use these, all three sizes dont work and I usually only wear L size eartips. The best ones that always work on every IEM is the yellow ones KBEAR07 (or whatever size/color fits your ear canal), they come stock with some IEMs like the Waner.
@@Jaawaudio You might be right. I didnt even know what type of eartips those were but they do have a weird shape to them. Im gonna go for the Tangzu eartips next time tho.

Eartips are far too personal, depending on your own ears, and your own experience and preference, that I could recommend any eartip, and I could be very wrong or very correct :)
Which eartips should I pair with ew200?
Depends what you want from the set, I like Dunu Candy, because they increase bass a bit and the brightness feels more controlled
I'm sorry I have no idea, sounds like should have someone look into your ears, maybe even an ear doctor.
could you recommend some for Jabra Elite 7 pros??
where can we buy eartips in 7 sizes to get best fit ? ( like there are on expensive sony iems) thanks
I can't unfortunately, I have M size ears and I also don't own the Oxygen 😢
@@Jaawaudio you disappointing me
@@Oriolus1 that is better than giving you a blind rec for eartips, I would disappoint myself
Yea sounds like tube shaped eartips don't fit your ear canal shape
@@Jaawaudio You might be right. I didnt even know what type of eartips those were but they do have a weird shape to them. Im gonna go for the Tangzu eartips next time tho.
there are XL tips, might redeem dunu s&s for you.
Hi, which ones reduce between 6k and higher frequencies?
@@shareclipsave narrow bore eartips 👍
Hey @Jaawaudio what eartips would u recommend for Thieaudio Hype 4's?
Eartips are too personal to give a direct recommendation, I can only say that Tangzu Sancai Balanced and Dunu S&S work for me on almost all IEMs.
@@Jaawaudio Okie thank you for recommendations
Do I have more if I’ve thrown away more than I’ve kept? 🤔
I was not prepared for the tip rolling journey I was about to embark on after buying IEM's 😂 I have three pairs of IEM and I've had to invest in around £180 worth of eartips just to find ones that are right for each IEM 😢 Final Type E on my Xenns Mangird Top is the best experience I've had so far. Loved the sound of Dunu S&S but only with my mouth closed tight, as soon as I open it I loose the seal which drives me crazy. Azla are just too stiff and painful, Spinfit are somewhere in the middle
Dang, that is some serious passion for the smallest nuances, but we do what we feel is worth doing :)
@@Jaawaudio I think I must have odd shaped ear canals as it’s a fine line between a seal/no seal/painful and not
@@0Metatron oh sorry I assumed you meant just the sound. That's very unfortunate, I wonder if flatheads would be a better choice?
✌
Lol mango dude u have them more than store :D
Haha, yeah it's becoming a serious thing, not just a hobby :D
Can you recommend eartips for zero red.i just bought one of W1 today is that ok for female voice music type 😂
TRI Clarions, for my ear by far the best on it.
@@Jaawaudio Thank bro. I will buy TRI Clarion M,S to try 😄🙏🏻
Delulu Allie: I can't buy anymore eartips, I spent too much
Delulu Jaawa: Just buy
*Few moment later*
*Brought tons of eartips*
Both: Fuck why did I spent so much on eartips
Both again: delulu time 🤧
No such thing as too many eartips, delulu go brrrrrr
Eartips madness
Can you recommend some wide or meduim bore eartips for my moondrop Katos as a replacement for my dying spring tips.
You can try Tangzu Sancai Balanced and Wide Bore, but eartips are super personal, I can't guarantee anything :)
yes your truly right , i like only tips fit good like those

@@chrismyers9951 I'm sorry the Soundcore P3i is a TWS and I don't know anything about TWS 😥

😅
No iem has been able to enter my ear carnals … they just hangout. It surprises me to hear people say iem enters their ears.
that's a lotta eartips...
@@prodigal99 unfortunately the amount has doubled in size since then 🤣
Have you tried Moondrop Spring Tips?
Yeah, I show and mention them also in the video, how delicate they are, and how careful one has to be when putting them on large nozzles :)
Gotta ask… are you Finnish? 😅
Yes, some think I'm Dutch, but no, just a Finn :D
LOL... never seen a table full of eartips..
wow all that tips what you do all of them ? man too many i dont like to try takes time also i dont like cheap silicon 😂😂 any way how long takes you too collect all , i like silicon elastic clear but i dont like foam too big for my ear canal make it feel pain
I have a lot of everything, need to test a lot of things compared to a lot of things, this isn't even half 🤣
With all of those ear tips...I hope you do not own a cat.
And I thought *I* owned an excess amount of eartips.
Hehe, "sad" to report this is about half, maybe a third :D
