Brent, what is the thickness of the film you use please? I have tried your method of sealing edges by leaving enough to go around edge of panel and heat and stick, but it seams not to work and wondered if the film I am using is a little thicker. It is 7.1mil.
The thickness is definitely not the problem. 👍🏻 What material are you using? We have rolls of PPF that we use and can sell to you. All of our films are 8 mil. Any good film should stick under the hood as long as you are prepping underneath the hood correctly? What is your process? Are you making sure to let the film completely dry before wrapping it underneath?
@@EncorePPFtint It's a material made in France I believe, Bodyfence X. I think I didn't really pay enough attention to the underside. Thank you so much for your videos, they are so informative.
No, this is Filink. It's a white box (no name brand) film that we've started installing. This film is priced very well, and we are able to resell it to viewers of this channel. It's turning out to be a great film to work with!
This is going to sound crazy but I've never tried gel. 🤯🤦🏻♂️ It looked messy. 🤣 What brand would you recommend? I have a Porsche Macon coming in for PPF in a week. I get a ton of pretacking on these hoods because of all the stretching and time needed for working areas down. Do you think that gel would be a game changer on a huge hood like that?
@@EncorePPFtint absolutely. I wouldn’t use it on the entire thing but I like to use it on ridges just to keep the pre tacking to a minimum. Using it for the whole install would just make a mess. Any install gel should be fine, they’re all basically the same thing imo but if I had to recommend any of them CarPro has some and 3M has some.
I'm going to buy some Monday so I'll have it ready. Might even test it on a different hood. It sounds like you are saying to apply it (full strength?) directly to the areas I'm going to get pretacking. Is that correct? I love learning new things. Thank you for bringing this up! Maybe someone has a video on how to use gel. 🤔
@@EncorePPFtint exactly. I usually just squeeze a line along the high points and give it a good rub around with my finger to spread it out a bit. If I have a pretty tricky bumper like most Toyotas I tend to use gel over slip just because you get probably triple the dwell time before you start dealing with tacking anywhere.
Can you make a video on the problem . Stretch mark, silvering etc. And how to avoid, fix it ?
I have made a video on silvering: th-cam.com/video/kInJQWDb3h0/w-d-xo.html
Please explain what equipment is needed, sir. I want to learn greetings from Indonesia gin
Welcome to the channel! Here is a video that goes over all of the tools needed to install PPF. th-cam.com/video/oQlGzV0AAF0/w-d-xo.html

Is it the same as installing door window film?
No, it's very different. This film is very thick (8 mil). Paint Protection Film is very different from window tint. 👍🏻
Is that Stek?

Instead of wax, why not try install gel?
