  • Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody PPF 🚘 Paint Protection Film Installation - Full Hood
    Every hood tells a different story, and some stories can be more challenging than others.
    ➡️ Each installation is a fresh journey for Brent, and with hundreds of vehicles and hoods under his belt, this Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody throws a unique twist. It’s not just any hood; it's the Hellcat's emblematic facade. But in our world, challenges are met with expertise and finesse.
    Ready to witness mastery in action? Let's dive in!
    The tutorial utilizes the NexGen material by PremiumShield, now under Eastman's domain. Note: this material's journey concluded at the end of 2022. For inquisitive minds pondering our current choice of material, shoot a question in the comments or touch base directly.
    Brent's footprints in the automotive tinting realm since 1998 have crafted a legacy, further enriched in 2004 when he ventured into the PPF world. His relentless commitment culminated in establishing ENCORE Window Tinting and Paint Protection Film in Stockton, California.
    Brent faces a myriad of vehicles annually, yet some stand out, like this Challenger's hood. This installation isn't just about applying a film; it’s about embracing challenges and emerging triumphant.

    This is awesome I'm going ti check it out today thanks so much I'll follow your channel. I have been wrapping and installing graphics basically absolutely anything with vinyl for 13 years I'm at the top of my game with vinyl. I only started PPF this year as my boss wanted to add it to the shop so I decided I would learn so I am very new to it but I'm definitely starting to like it as much as vinyl

      You've been doing vinyl for quite some time. PPF should come easier to you as you already understand a lot of the techniques that are pretty similar. No doubt this channel should help with learning PPF. With your background you'll be able to understand and pick up on so much more someone just starting out. 👍😁

      @EncorePPFtint it definitely helps me out having so much wrap knowledge I'm able to understand the film and the xpel guy said I will get the hang of it no problem with a little bit of time he said the same thing you did and I'm definitely able to do most installs now just some of the harder stuff I'm still learning the process

    You’re so awesome! Great videos!! You’re saving my life right now. I’m a paint correction guy, done it for over 10 years on exotics and classics and my PPF guy just went MIA on me and I have a LC500H sitting in the shop needing PPF so time to learn a new art.
    Will be watching your videos all night, appreciate you for taking the time to make these. I’m about 10 videos in and I have the confidence to nail this in the morning, you do make it look easy though 👏🙏😅

      I'm sorry to hear about your PPF guy bailing. I understand that position.
      Well, we know you've got great attention to detail. That is a huge help. I know that my window tinting before I started PPF was an assest.

      @Encore Window Tinting and Paint Protection Film No, I Bulk the whole front but the bumper was a little challenging ngl. I don't have a good relationship with my platter and pre cuts 🤣 always something goes wrong

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get that. When I got my first plotter it literally sat for a year before I put any effort into using it. Now it's used almost daily for one project or another. Once you get them dialed in they are workhorses. We edit every pattern in the computer that we plot out. Plotter cut patterns are a different install compared to the bulking. We do both. 👍🏻

    Great job! I personally have never done this hood, but seeing you do this I already in my head was like telling myself “oh yeah I would’ve done the same. It’s also one thing to see it in a video but I’m sure it can be more intimidating having the vehicle in front of you.

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the feedback. You are right about that, this hood can look more intimidating than it is. The good news is that it's only a process to get it done. There are way harder installs that can go wrong so easily. It's also interesting how we (us installers) do so much of the installation the same even though we were trained completely differently. Or in my case, not trained at all. 👍🏻
      How long have you been installing PPF?

    • @erick77dp7
      @erick77dp7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EncorePPFtint of course! I’ve been installing for 5 years now an it’s funny because I was never trained or took any classes. I taught myself for the most part. How long have you been installing? I Received a couple tips & tricks along the way. Have you ever tried a reverse roll? It will make transferring the film from your table to the panel much easier and also avoid high risk of contamination durning transfer vs holding in open air and having to fold it over the hood.

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been installing tint since 1998 and PPF since 2004. 3 days of hands-on training for tint and self-taught from there. I'm self-taught on the PPF. I've gotten some tips, tricks, tools, and info from reps and such over the years. I have tried the reverse roll but stick with my install method as it's what I know best. We also do not have a weeding table. So I'd be sticking it on the wall either way with my setup. Both techniques seem to have their advantages and disadvantages. Once perfected, I'd figure contamination is negligible with either method. 👍🏻

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      🤣😂 Too funny. It is a fun hood. 😁
      I do use a steamer on smaller pannels that need a lot of stretch. I have a couple videos on Harley Davison where I use steam.
      Back in the early 2000's I used steam during every installation. PPF was much more difficult to stretch and conform back then. PPF has gotten a lot easier to install over the years. 👍🏻😁
      What kind of steamer did you use? I have a Jiffy steamer and another one that I use more for PPF that only puts out steam when you push the button.

    Do u have a video for how you ppfd the mirrors? Did you pre cut or bulk them? Or mix of pre cut on the bottom of the line and bulk on top?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried to bulk them but the car had a ceramic coating on the mirrors and the PPF wouldn't stick. They opted for no coverage over having the ceramic coating buffed off. The front end had just been repainted after a car accident. These are Definity a 2 piece mirror if you are looking for full coverage.

      @motor-addicts I've gone back and looked at the time on this video and I had a total of an hour into it. That's from laying the film on the hood to final heat sealing the wrapped edges and installing the vents. This time does not include waiting for the edges to dry before wrapping them, prepping the hood (wash, clay bar, edge prep with rubbing alcohol), and removing the vents.

    I’m actually starting on this hood today. I haven’t done a hood like this yet but have done a few challengers/hellcats.
    Any words of advice or tips now that you’ve done one or something you would change the next time?

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @atdautospa I'm glad I could help! I wouldn't change much. This install went very well. Make sure to mix up your slip with a little extra soap. Also, make sure to clean the surfaces in (behind) the scoops really well. That way, when you wrap in there, they stick and stay down. I've had a couple of these hoods that the plastics vents would bunch the material up after a couple of weeks. On those, we just trimmed the ppf away from the plastic vent, and that fixes the problem. I like to hide those edges, but the plastic vents rubbing is out of our control. 😁

    how do you set up your soapy solution? even when parts of the hood are drying, you doest seem like you have issues with soap lines or anything

    • @EncorePPFtint
      @EncorePPFtint  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So.... Correct slip solution is an integral part of a seamless installation. I would definitely do some research on your slip soap and on the PPF you are installing and see what others are using for ratios. Start with what you find and then you can add or remove soap as needed until your solution is just right for your style. I wish everyone would share their slip solution ratios publicly! Let's help each other out. :) We use PremiumShield Shampoo for our soap and mix it at 5-7ml (depending on the shop temperature. Higher temperatures in the shop require more soap) per gallon of water. On this Hellcat hood, I knew my working time was going to be a bit longer than normal and I didn't want any of the areas pre tacking before I squeegeed them out. I added two extra ml's of soap in a different spray bottle (so I didn't affect the normal ratio in my keg) in order to keep the adhesive from tacking to early on this hood.

    • @SantiAragon
      @SantiAragon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EncorePPFtint bad ass dude…I am going to try that ratio the next time and see if there is improvement. Never took into consideration the temp at our shop. We are in Texas so it’s dry and on the warmer side. Thank you for sharing!
