@@pedroanardicross buy, the ability to buy a game on one system, and getting it for free on your other system (in this case the 3DS) They only did this with one game, a crappy Mario vs Donkey Kong game that barely anybody remembers
Tbf, I'm not. I mean, their back catalog is a break-in-case-of-financial-emergency stash to them and always has been so, if they were pulling them out-- it was because they seriously needed the revenue. After all, wasn't this the same time period when Iawata took a seriously heavy pay cut so he wouldn't have to lay anyone off?
I absolutely adore how 3 zapper games were made available. I feel like they could totally put those on NSO using gyro controllers. With how iconic duck hunt is more people need an easy way to experience it.
A lot of my time spent with the Wii U has been playing gba games. There was a lot of games I never got to play on gba and that allowed me to finally play them.
@@CrustyFox87 I think its poor sales and poor marketting is the real negativity people point out, not to mention that it kinda lacked unique experience since a lot of games got or are ports on the 3ds, or just used a similar engine to it, but games like Pikmin 3, Windwaker HD, Mario Kart 8, Nintendoland, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Captain Toad, Smash 4, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, are still hold up to this day. Another thing to mention is that the Wii U had streaming service before Playstation and Xbox ever did, which is pretty insane considering that Nintendo will always be behind them in terms of hardware.
@@iLoveBread260I mean if we’re counting streaming services in general then technically the Wii beat out the Wii U. Netflix was available after all if you bought the disc
We didn’t know at the time but the Wii Shop Channel made it so $20 from my grandma became hundreds of hours of classic era games and it’s sad that as I’ve gotten older that nobody has ever had anything close to that variety
I’m sure many will say Wii U VC is still good just because it is VC and we could still actually buy the games, compared to NSO blah blah blah. I mean sure that’s great but aside from the VC during the Wii U being rather laughable with its launch distribution…holy crap how did they mess up NES emulation?
I absolutely loved the Wii & Wii U Virtual Console and yes I transferred one of my Wii’s to my Wii U. I really wish Nintendo carried the Wii U over to Switch or at least retained the VC as it was on Wii U as it’s GUI was great and easy to navigate. Although it took a while for Nintendo to release games on the VC just look how long and how few games they release on the Switch most only via online services and not being able to purchase and it’s been out for 7+ years!!!
After the seventh-gen boom of cheap indies and mobile games, I'm still shocked they were selling $5 NES games that didn't even support cross-buy
Cross-what now?
@@pedroanardiIf you get in on one console (3DS) you get it on the other (Wii U)

Holy sh*t, they got TurboGrafx16? And the WiiU flopped?

My WiiU is plugged into an upstairs closet above my garage. Gamepad is in the garage and I use it as a retro game device. Love the thing

Press F for no "Yoshi's Cookie" on Wii U VC.
The Wii U is such an underrated console
I agree. I have (or had) one, and I never really understood the negativity around it.

Mmmm. Cool video but a sad subject. Wii Virtual Console looks great. I waited so long for GameCube and DS on Switch it’s probably on Switch 2 now.

I loved the Wii U despite the hate it got. You’re right the nes vc games were washed out and dark that was crazy Nintendo let that happen haha
Man, Scott really hates the Wii U, don't ya think?!
why'd you drop the blue screen?
this is his clips channel, this video is just a clip from one of the episodes on his main channel

The lack of GameCube releases for virtual console seemed insulting. Those games are still not getting the respect on Switch either ffs 👎🏻
