I'm surprised he didn't mention Doom 64. An N64 exclusive ported to modern consoles with the 64 still in the title. So it's weird seeing a "64" game on other platforms with the 64 not removed.
Now I have to look up if the original video came out before that happened.

This was something I suggested back when he had the google form for suggestions, nice that it made it into a segment
I think my suggestion on that form was basically the same - "Nintendo on non nintendo consoles, sega on non sega consoles (when sega still made hardware)"
I suggested licensed games for some reason.

It really is the biggest and best example. All the Sony and Microsoft games are coming to PC now. Hell, even Xbox games on PlayStation, and a PlayStation game or two on Xbox. Apart from something like Bayonetta, Nintendo stuff is just NOT coming to other consoles or PC. So these examples are extra crazy.
In Fortnite, you can play as Kratos on an Xbox, and Master Chief on a PlayStation. The Samus Aran skin fell through.

Back in the early days, pre-NES era, companies used to port their games to competitor's platforms all the time. Atari made the Atarisoft label and made games for the Intellivision and Colecovision, along with loads of computers. Coleco ported its best stuff to Atari and Intellivision, and Mattel Electronics made the M-Network label to port their games to the Atari 2600. They made extra money off licensed arcade games, and put their stuff out to wider audiences, to kids hoping to play that cool game that wasn't on their system.

Wondering if the Shield deal was why we only go Galaxy 1 on the Mario 3D All Stars pack. They simply already had it running on the chip (on another platform) and threw it into the set.

Defending console exclusives is like defending polio: although its technically not wrong in a legal sense, you will definitely get stares from others
Console exclusives are the only reason to pick a console. For the record, I don't mean to defend console exclusives here, I just mean to point out that, if there weren't any console exclusives, we'd all be on the same machine because there'd be no reason to actively compete.
Yeah mostly XB fanboys who "hate" exclusives so they think they shouldn't exist but then get so damn excited for XB exclusives like Starfield and brag and hold it over PS lol

I recently picked up the castlevania collection that has super castlevania 4 on ps4 and after having it originally on snes back in the day, still have the cartridge but don’t have the snes any more, but love replaying it on ps4 and being able to save after years of restarting from the beginning every time I wanted to play it on my snes
that placebo effect comment is spot on, ive had a steamdeck for a year , when i got it i put emudeck and a few thousand games on it and then never played it lol, got my miyoo mini plus a week ago and already put a few hours in on various ps1 and super nintendo and gameboy games, coolroms has anything you need, the miyoo comes with a lot of games but if you like particular ps1 games you need to get them yourself as those are the biggest games on the console, i got 26 ps1 games right? and about 4k other games lmao so there it is

When I was young, my brother and I would go to the arcade to play Mario Bros. The Atari 2600 version looks pretty bad but is actually fun. And the Atari 5200 version of Mario Bros was surprisingly close to the arcade. And there was a Super Mario Bros arcade game which had some changes to the NES game. 😮

Technically Pokemon came to mobile phones back on the Gameboy Color, but that is mostly lost media and was Japanese exclusive, I believe.

The 2600 version came out before there was even an NES. It was an attempt to copy the arcade version.
This has nothing to do with the content of the video (which is a great video) but the N64 game at 2:23 is the same game Kurtis Conner made a whole video on trying to break the world record for
the craziest part about Nintendo games on mobile is still Dragalia Lost....an amazing game and completely new original IP, which they only put on mobile and shut down after a few years. The game didn't even get so much as a single Spirit in Smash Ultimate

Oh Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. My favourite game in the whole FF series.
An expensive and somewhat annoying way to play coop 20 years ago got patched into straight killing couch coop with online only. They intentionally locked the physical release to only support Japanese language and servers to stop people from importing it as well...wish I had known that before buying mine.
At least Dolphin supports GBA emulation now so the best way to play it with friends is legit the PC, whether locally or online. Thanks, Square.

The problem isn't about playing *every* game, it's about not being forced into a corner where you either forget about a game that is right up your alley or pay a ludicrous amount of cash for a console you don't give a shit about. In the modern gaming era, that's a problem for me. It's hard to find games I'm interested in anymore, especially understanding how my brain works and how I have to play what I'm really interested in at that moment or everything else seems dull by comparison, no matter how much I might love it otherwise.

I keep seeing this unsubstantiated claim that the Atari VCS port of Donkey Kong was intentionally bad and it’s just not true. Garry Kitchen made it and worked his ass off on it and did a great job given the circumstances.
The difference is he had a strict time limit and the Atari Cart was only 4kb, whereas the Coleco version had 24kb of space. No one on earth could have made a comparable Donkey Kong and fit it onto a 4kb Atari cart.

If it shows Nintendo with a copyright symbol (Fatal Frame does) then Nintendo owns it. W101 doesn't have that anywhere, so I imagine Nintendo transferred the IP to Platinum.
Nintendo does not own Fatal Frame. There was a partnership (similar to Koei & Sony for Nioh 1 and 2) to co-develop and publish Fatal Frame starting with Mask Of The Lunar Eclipse on the Wii, however both games proved to be unsucessful on Nintendo platforms so I guess Koei Tecmo didn't see the point in this parternship.
If Nintendo really owned it, they would just tell Tecmo to touch grass or perhaps they had temporary"owner" rights for a few years until those contracts expired which was the case for Nioh, Sony "owned" it for a year.
@@Manic_Panic They co-own the copyrights to Lunar Eclipse and the Black Water. That means they co-own those two games along with the characters in the games. I did not say they own the Fatal Frame series.

I am still really pissed about how FF Crystal Chronicles Remastered was treated. No local multiplayer options? The game was literally designed with it in mind. Even just same-system coop would have been fine so I didn't have to deal with lag while playing a game with my sibling who is literally two feet away from me.
People always point to the GBA screen feature... but who cares about that? Why do we need secret screens for info? What does it matter? Toss it on a shared mini-map either player can toggle on or off and call it a day, idgaf.
The overpriced DLC is just one more reason I hate it. Square Enix is so damned greedy and you just know they'll never discount any of that DLC. Trust me, I've kept the outfits DLC on a wishlist ever since release and it has never once gone down in price.

Why don't all 3 companies make there online game services cross platform. Seems like they'd make more money with more subscribers. It's not like you'd get all of there games and never buy the consoles again.
Because exclusives makes people buy your console instead of the competition's console, and THAT makes way more money, specially for Nintendo, probably close to half of the sales of the Switch are just because of exclusives
