Advanced technology is only as good as the person who uses it. It still takes a dedicated person with a set of skill and experience to make this technology work. In other words, anyone just can be put into a situation like this and still be successful. It should be another valuable tool, like any other tool, in his or her toolbox. Remember, we as people are in charge.
Just what we need, more consolidation of control of our food supply in the hands of international conglomerate corporations. I prefer small local farms & food production.
Imagine... there is a possibility with all the little "helpers", robots and all the software to have the "know how" of the farmers available one day as "big data"... what would happen then?
It isn't technology that delivers greater productivity but the net energy received from fossil fuels. The best farm equipment in the future will be powered by muscle given how quickly the net energy from fossil fuels is dropping and how quickly they're being depleted.

And with that older equipment you have the right (and probably the capability) to do your own maintenance and repairs.
