Failure to Identify is ALWAYS a SECONDARY charge
In Texas it is even more strict as a person would have to be lawfully arrested before they are required to identify.
And for the millionth time the public has to educate the police.... That I D is like heroin..

This is a good start for the new officer. He was able to witness a fellow officer trying to obtain an ID unlawfully and his demeanor suggests he will be a good officer, which means he will have a difficult time getting promotions.
Probably going to get a bad mark and reprimand for not holding true to the Blue Wall.

In Texas, the law is, you don’t have to identify unless you have been lawfully arrested and a cop asks for your ID. Other than if you are driving and get lawfully pulled over , of course. Evidently most TX cops don’t know that or just don’t care…they try real hard to get that ID and run it.
Asking for ID by cops is like crack is to Hunter.

They can always "ask": they CANNOT DEMAND or threaten "charges" if refused though.

Unfortunately they don’t have to know their job, they have qualified immunity. You would think they might accidentally learn some of this stuff but I haven’t seen any proof of that. Only type of job that I’ve ever heard of where you can break all the “rules” and get a few extra days of paid vacation as punishment. It’s disgusting and we have got to get this stopped.

You're spot on about female cops. I live in the UK and the vast majority of female cops push for ID and won't let it go if your refuse. The male cops ask but the majority accept if you refuse.

If a supervisor shows up, talk only to the supervisor. And tell them one time and one time only "I DON'T ANSWER QUESTIONS". One time. That woman keeps asking for ID. Already been told no. She's the example that you don't want to even talk to.

Wait a minute they’re coming out to find out what he’s up to and they tell him that he needs to show ID and find out he really doesn’t then they wanna know if he has any weapons. Do they think he has a weapon on him? Is it illegal to have a weapon on you? No, so why are they asking these questions? Because of bullies, and they get away with it. 3802 is a real thing. At least her superior officer knew. Now she’s explaining that there was people that called in on him because they thought he might’ve needed a ride. Doesn’t DISPATCH screen these calls? So you can call dispatch or 911 and say there’s somebody across the street standing there and I don’t know whether they need a ride. Would you please send a patrol car down there and ask him. Is that their job? Chasing down peoples whims? The female officer doesn’t know her job. All she had to do is drive up stop roll her window down and say hey is everything OK? And the guy says yes and then problem solved drive off.
What crime has he committed? He needs to be suspected of a crime. If not, they need to turn around and leave him alone.
