That generation of swingle singers were the best. The elegant joyfulness yet with full spirituality, beyond words. As it is more general problem with the present whole generation, later ´swingle-generations´ have become more sort of narcissistic.
At 14 years of age I received as a birthday present one of the first albums of the Swingle Singers and fell in with their sound! It's nice there's a revival and groups continuing the Swingle Singers traditions for new generations to hear and enjoy!
Let's be very clear about this: Here is artistry at the highest level. Impeccable intonation and astonishing memorisation of part singing. I've been a fan since my teens.
This group is the great-great-great grandparent of Pentatonix. I bought their first album in 1962. Singers have come and gone, but the institution has continued under the direction of its founder, the aptly named Ward Swingle. Some percussion shows up in some numbers, but most of that is actual vocalese as well.
Wow - I didn't know this group lasted past the early 70s! They gave all of us an appreciation of classical music which we would have otherwise not listened to. Makes me think of Post Modern Jukebox which puts an old school spin on more recent music music which some older people might otherwise not enjoy.
@@briseboy, Ward Swingle was an American, born in Mobile, Alabama. He was living and working in Paris when he founded the original Swingle Singers, the rest of whose members were French. He later moved to England and created a new group of British singers (with which he also sang for a time); that group was variously known as Swingle II or the Swingle Singers. After much evolution, the current group-called the Swingles or the Swingle Singers-is based in England but has some international members (German. American), and Swingle himself served as a mentor only (he’s now deceased).

I've been listening to them for 61 years. They never get old, (But I do!) My absolute favorite group.
I loved listening to their album in 1962 when I was in seventh grade and am glad it continues for future generations to hear so clearly .
it converted in stoupe instrumentals , epic shit!
I'm smiling as I nod my head. Beautiful
Vocal perfection. One take, no mistakes, as smooth as a glass of French Red wine. Beautiful!
I had a friend who gave me their LP for my 21st birthday back in the 60’s….love them so much xxx
Astonishing ability, virtuos singing, beautiful voices. Great arrangements! ❤ Thank you for these treasures!
Magnifique...et dire que je n'aimais pas trop ce style...mais je les remercie ..pour m'avoir fait changer d'avis !!

Maravilloso espectáculo de estos principes de la musica barroca
It is so thrilling to see them performing live! The joy and delight and togetherness! So wonderful!
I have heard there music from time to time over the last 60 years but this is the first time I have found them on TH-cam and they are incredible.
They even have their own TH-cam channel (Swingles). 😃
Just brilliant! It's wonderful to see them singing 'Live'. I've loved the Swingle Singers since the 1970s!

French culture. When it comes to music and the arts in general, the French are so cool.

Ward Swingle was English, Johan was German, Dvorak Czech. Stop posting inaccuracies.
@@briseboy "The French group, directed originally by Ward Swingle (who once belonged to Mimi Perrin's French vocal group Les Double Six),"
This isn’t the French group. This is the English group that was founded shortly afterward and has been continually performing for decades.

Wonderful! 😁Are they still going in some form, The Swingle Singers?
I believe so. I heard they recruit every year.

ich bin hin und weg
such amazingly talented singer.. such accurate pitching and dynamic control..
such a pity they could't find anybody to write any lyrics for them.. ;9)
Har har
Super ! but where is the drummer ?
the drummer is the singer located at the far right (for us)
@@lorrainedubuis8495 actually he's on our far left (coté jardin). They always had basses there...
