  • We show you how to properly operate the safety pull cord in order to open your garage door in case of an emergency or when servicing the door. We showcase both the LiftMaster and the Genie garage door opener system which are slightly different in operation, and both very common in households.

And you never disengage your garage door when the garage door is in the open position only do that if your opener breaks when the door is open because you never know if your garage door is not balanced or something else could be wrong with the door and you can actually cut your emergency release rope to the proper height so it does not get stuck in car wrecks or any obstacles that it could be in the way

Hello! We had an issue where the pull cord was getting caught in our skis and pulled the door down and broke our windshield. is there a way to shorten it?

Don't worry! The garage door opener is engaged now.

For safety reasons we don’t advise removing the cord or changing the standard 6’ length from the ground; however, you can cut or re-tie the cord at a higher level so it doesn’t catch on your car.
A jackshaft, also known as a side mount opener, is a great way to remove the overhead rail and opener to clear up headroom in your garage.
