Great tip! String is a clever idea! Everyone else is like "sensor alignment hack - just align it until it is green dummy!"

Thank you! I had already had a sensor replaced about two months ago, and I couldn’t believe the next one had gone out and why he wouldn’t of replaced both at the same time. After watching your video, I realized that it was just unaligned, but it wasn’t on the ground so I didn’t know.using your information I was able to fix it in five minutes and save myself a service call.

If only the manufacturers would have the common sense to integrate a small alignment laser, like the one we all played with, to drive the cat crazy.

Thanks my issue was the wire moved some. I agree with the comment about better sensors but my home is only 1 year old you would think new tech would have been included. This is the same as what I had in the 80s!

Thank you! The green light was off then suddenly turned on and problem was fixed. No idea what happened.

Thank you, I bumped it dragging a trash can past the receiving sensor and I cannot get them realigned so the string tip is what I'll try I was using a laser. I don't seem to have those little side glowy lights mine are glowing all the time orange and green I Believe they were installed incorrectly they should have been on opposite ends cuz there's a light that shines out of the garage instead of in. But the installer was another story in itself.

The issue is these garage door sensors are so outdated in their technology. Take a look at a sensor that can solve the sun issue, alignment issue, coverage issue and also help guide your car in the garage! Let me know if you want to give this a try?

Dude, you are the ONLY video showing *how* to align the sensors. Using string. Cool.
Now my wife can open/close the garage as she expects. Thank you for being attentive to details.

If the ground is level just measure with tape measure or you can measure from. Jam bracket … just another way

I have what sounds like this issue, but cannot seem to fix it. I have a sold red light on one sensor. If I put my hand over the sensor, on either side, it starts to blink, so it definitely sees the other side. I have tried moving it up down and from side to side and nothing seems to fix the issue. Any suggestions?

Does the door go down part way, then stop and come back up? What is the door doing exactly?

We have no light on either sensor, have tried to align as directed, no obstructions. We have power.
    Defective sensor?

Can i operate the door without sensors?

If you hold the button down usually you can still close the door. Just be careful as the door will not stop if anything is in the way. Make sure the door is clear. Do this at your own risk.

They are way to high my little gog would go right under that and you know what that means.

Yes, those were placed to high when installed. They should be about 6 inches off the ground.

Just recently, my door was coming back up … A friend & I, after spending time on TH-cam, fixed the problem … As the door moved down, it was hitting, moving a skinny wire from the sender, causing sensor to move & turn off … Moved wire out of the way, door comes down without touching, moving wire … Door works normal … Now I’m thinking, does wire have a bad connection, light on sender sensor should not turn off
