I have to admit I didn't get it until I went to a Band Maid concert. It was a blast then . I saw it on Miku's Birthday. She sings one of her lead songs afterwards. At the show she sang all 2 of her songs. They are good songs. Thanks for giving it a shot.
Miku has more than two tracks where she is lead vocals: - Summer Drive - Big Dad - Beauty and the Beast - TIME - Rock in me - Sayonakidori It is often (not fully) one track per album she gets her own song.
Yeah, I was curious as to how you'd react to this. The "Omajinai Time" goes back to Miku's days working as a waitress in a Maid Cafe. The waitress engages you in a magic spell chant that is supposed to make the food better. Miku simply decided to incorporate that in their live shows. I don't know why this one was chosen. There are much funnier ones: Like when Kanami feeds Miku a Pocky stick (Japanese candy stick), then reveals that Misa had stuck it up her nose. Miku goes ballistic. Anyway, I can see where you'd feel it's a "you had to be there" moment. It has become a thing that Band Maid fans expect and look forward to in a show. I suppose the point was to show you the extent at which Band Maid engages the crowd.
They had about three such chatterbox periods in Atlanta last Friday night. Receiving gifts from audience, accusing each other of being the "drinker" (nobody has to "out" Misa as a drinker), Akane eating Bananas (seemingly whenever she puts down her drumsticks), and of course, Omajinai Time. These were great fun, and crucial to their connection with fans!
quite often in larger venues all the band except Miku will leave the stage to pee, grab a drink whatever then wander back on. sometimes they will mess with Miku or just mess around in the background. Omajinai time is basicly the "magic "spell they cast on food in Maid cafes and they have incorporatied into their shows, every one is a bit different and depending on the show length will normally lead into a Miku song or instumental to give Saiki a longer break.. and as you already kinda guessed its to keep the crowd entertained and hyped up. its a great moment during the shows that gives audiance and band alike a break before they start up again.. can totally understand your confusion and the null score especially since you have not experienced it live for yourself
Where most bands WOULD exit the stage entirely, Band-Maid has a connection to it's fans like no other. So why not goof around on stage while taking a breather. The fans DEFINITELY don't mind. We love it! Doesn't look good?? They're showing us that they're just young women having fun, doing what they love, without the big rock star haughty attitude. We love them for that.
Requesting this for a reaction is very odd. However, being in a B-M show before and experience this first hand, it's a fun experience. Having view it on it's own, it's really out of place and not to be viewed as is. You need to be in the show to appreciate this. Like you said it gives the band a break and at the same time it entertains the audience. It's always been a part of their concert and it is adored and appreciated by the fans.
Just go with the flow- it's what they do and you can see the crowd just love it. It's a small window into their world. There often real gems in these MC moments- Kanami hugging Saiki, Akane eating a banana etc. Moe, Moe and Kyun, Kyun are magic spells put on a serving of food when the maids deliver them to customers at Maid Cafe's. Don't worry you will recover- have a beer. Sometimes you just have to chillax. Band-Maid are different in so many ways and this is one of them. I liked it!
This is a staple part of every band-maid show that all the fans love. The girls come and go as they please and usually get up to silly shit either in the background or getting bullied into shenanigans by Miku. You always put so much of an emphasis on crowd interaction I thought you would "get it" I was sorely mistaken and can promise such a misunderstanding will not happen again. Extra apologies to all the "fans" that loved to give me mad shit for every request I paid for because it wasn't the one you wanted. Your safe now, I literally left the country. You do you, just request whatever you want David to react to, doesn't matter what everyone else says 🙂 It was still entertaining to watch, nothing wrong. Take care, Po 😉
I personally enjoy these a lot, but I can see why it's not for everyone. The first time I saw one I wasn't feeling it either an actually disliked it. That said, as far your requests go, you paid for them, you choose whatever you want. Don't feel bad about the people complaining, if they want something else, they should choose it instead. Thanks for requesting Band-Maid anyway and I saw you were going to one of their concerts in an other reply, so enjoy the show!
Hey, man, don't feel bad. I totally get that with David making a big deal of crowd interactions in his videos you requesting this made sense. He's also never been to one of their concerts so you wanted him to see more of what their shows include. Your intentions were good and pure. The people in the comment section here with the mean comments are being ridiculous. I have gotten some unnecessary mean comments in a couple of the comment sections to my requests before as well. Just ignore them. The only thing I would've suggested to you is that you could've given a little intro to David for some context as to what the clip was about like where in the show this took place and that it's a part of every Band-Maid show. Other than that, you don't need to apologize to anyone because you didn't do anything wrong. One question: After the clip abruptly stops here, does Band-Maid right away start playing again or did the break continue?
@@DaRunningManSubs The part at the end where the band comes in with the note punch is where Omaginai Time always ends and they start up the next song. Majinai Time = Magic Spell Time. As they tend to play song after song (26 song set at this tour)without hardly a word spoken in between, this is an intermission. And a band break. You're right in that its more inclusive if you're there.
I love watching them. i hardly can understand what she is saying. But watching the fans is the best part. It's part of the concert. Fans connecting to the musicians. Every one is different. Misa is a drinker and it was a beer. Akane is known for eating big. It sounds dumb, but Akane takes a banana and loads her mouth and then they put the microphone to her. @@Hamish_Whitehaven David has said many times since he first started this very channel that he will react to anything people want. David never said his reaction channel is limited to music. Just a month ago he reacted to Abbot & Costello and several months before that he reacted to "Ric Flair and Jay Lethal Promo" which was literally a pro wrestler doing an imitation of another pro wrestler. Neither was related to music. There are many other videos like that on his channel. The funny thing is, this is related to music anyway because it is a band in the middle of their concert interacting with the crowd.
Please don't take this wrong David, but your considerable confusion as an outsider looking in viewpoint was hilarious. Miku's Omajinai Time is a longstanding tradition with Band-Maid and is quite humorous to most of their fans. It's sort of like a long-running gag and having the other band members hanging around watching her performance is only distracting if one takes it all too seriously. The Magic Time is understood by fans to be a lighthearted and entertaining interlude to give the audience and band members a bit of a breather. It's this very personal touch rooted in the Maid Cafe motif directed at their audience which is one of the things that makes this stellar group of musicians so endearing to their fans.
This is a bit of audience interaction aimed at the hardcore fans who know their background (Maid Cafes, Misa's love of alcohol, Kanami's meek persona, Akane's love of bananas, etc, etc.). It makes more sense once you get to know their personas. They are different at each show. This past weekend I saw them in Austin, and this time Saiki asked individual audience members questions, and Kanami was hamming it up in the background interrupting Miku. It's just a bit of fun while they take a small breather between song sets.
Please go see them during the fall tour. Omajinai Time is a fun thing to experience in person. This was not the best one to request. They had one in London in 2018 where the band broke into a drumming competition (Kanami was actually pretty good), and then there was the one in NYC in 2019 where Miku walked out into the audience and then Kanami tricked Miku into taking a bit of a Pocky Stick that she had previously stuck up MISA's nose.
This is a Band-Maid Tradition at every Okyu-ji. The band takes a break and Miku leads an MC. And usually Misa does her Opening Ceremony. She leads a countdown and pulls the tab on a beer can and chugs it. This time she had a can of Yuengling. Miku then leads Magic Spell time. This is a tradition from Japanese Maid Cafés: when the maid delivers your food she leads the customer in incantation that blesses the food and makes it taste "special', but at Band-Maid Okyu-ji Miku leads the crowd in her special incantation to make the concert 'special'. Yes, it's hokey, but it's fun, it engages the audience, Miku makes a fool of herself, while the rest of the band trolls her. Everyone has a good time and it's never exactly the same way twice; the rest of the band will toss Miku some kind of curve ball. They don't do this at festivals where they're given limited stage time, but at solo shows they know their fans expect it. BTW David: it's always fun seeing you totally bum-fuddled by Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things the Band-Maid way.
Misa drinks whisky/beer when playing on stage, when they take a break time, they are all on the stage together entertaining their audients(Masters and Princesses)
Lol this takes some explaining, I have seen this live so it is fun. This has also been called Miku's Magic Time. Misa is known for drinking beer, whisky. This is a mid show audience participation time, where Saiki is basically getting a break. Miku leads this getting the audience involved and hyped. But not sure why the video cuts at the end. The end of this is one of the band maid songs Miku does the lead vocals for, which is why the band is on stage. Saiki sometimes leaves and comes back. So that is all this is, Miku doing audience participation and a song mainly to give Saiki a break because they usually do 22 songs in a concert. This is really fun live mainly because Miku is so jpop idol cute that you cant help but participate but really not sure how this works for a reaction, maybe if the song at the end was included it would make sense.
An odd request for review. For the "uninitiated" this is just nonsense. Other commenters will explain the backstory involving maid cafes, etc. For us madiacs, we look forward to this time with Miku, and the rest of the band wandering on and off the stage makes us feel like we're hanging out with them. Sometimes they get involved or do bizarre things behind Miku's back. (MISA's opening ceremony for her mid-concert beer break was just for this tour. If you want to be really puzzled watch one where Akane throws a banana peel into the crowd. Defines the concept of 'you had to be there.' You did a better job understanding this than I expected and, yes, a score wouldn't make sense. But..-crowd interaction-.
Shocking that the fuddy duddy that starts an internal count when Saiki turns her back to the crowd to make faces with Akane because after 15 seconds it's "disrespectful", doesn't get it. Hey Mason, it's your $100 per month but I suggest you stick to music requests dude. Wasted money unless this is the reaction you were looking for.
Honestly I’m just spending my hundo in other places. I sincerely thank you for your kind defense. I’m very over these self entitled “fans” bitching at me about the song I did or didn’t pick. I’m going to be front row at a band maid concert tomorrow so fucke’m lol. I completely feel I have the last 10000x laughs here lol
You should watch a video on Japanese maid cafe culture to understand what this is. It's something Miku incorporated into the band from her time working in one of those cafe's as a way to interact with the audience. It's something B-M fans look forward to during their live shows, that and Misa chugging her alcoholic beverage of choice
yes. It's so weird, isn't it? By the way, "moe moe kyun kyun" means something like "something is too cute to die for". Saying this out loud makes me feel like I'm missing something. If you were saying this out loud in your daily life, I think your brain broke down. perhaps.
Frankly, this request is not worth noting and I'm sorry someone asked you and caused you embarrassment. I mean that Band Maid is a unique rock band, first by its costumes, and its way of communicating with its public. In Japan, even some fans don't really appreciate Omajinai Time. But Miku doesn't care. This moment is pure entertainment and describes the whimsical spirit of this band like no other and their connection with the public who react enthusiastically as you can see, David.
Yeah, this was waaaay out of context if you don't know what's going on. Yet they're doing the MC's in ENGLISH on the US tours which is so impressive to me. Even MISA and Akane. If they just sat there and made each other laugh I would absolutely enjoy it. That's their magnetism for me. They can never not do their MC stuff. Then add the Awesome music and you'll know whey they are my favorite current Rock band.
My guess is the point of this request was to give you a better idea of the level of crowd engagement and relationship Band Maid has with their fans. It's a staple of Band Maid shows and their/we fans love them and the intermissions for it. I wouldn't have minded that someone requested this but now it's just another example of (*dead horse beating noises*) poor responsibility by requesters. I'm under the impression that not communicating with David on Patreon about something that isn't a song was the irresponsibility that led to a complete lack of info and details to go along with it. Either way any real entertainment value it could have had is lost for both David and us.
Normally, the rest of the band pranks behind Miku's back and she anticipates being pranked and make it into a "Comedy Sketch", which is the fun part. Unless you haven't gone to one of their shows, this part tends to be boring. It's a shame whoever gave you the request had to pick one of the more "lame" Magic Spell Time.
As much as I respect Miku for all her drive and determination and pure hard work in brining Band Maid to where they are today, Miku's 'Magic Spell' time aka Omajinai Time, has always been my least favourite part of their shows. Time for a toilet break, refreshments etc. I have not witnessed it myself and believe being in the crowd would make the experience better but it does not work for me having watched various fan cams of it. Fully understand your score. 🤣 It would be better if it was just Miku, as you say. The others look vaguely awkward and having seen Misa take her swig of a drink, many times, it does not really add anything for me. I should add Miku has carried out this part of Band Maids show for a long time so it is popular with many.
When I saw them in Dallas last year I thought I was prepared for how fun this would be ... I was soooo wrong . Seeing them take over the venue during this down time was just smile central . All of them are naturally funny, warm ,and personable ... Looking format[rd to seeing them again this year .
Band-Maid fact: Misa is a drinker and loves her alcohol. During the fall tour in '22, Misa would drink a local or regional beer from the area they were playing that night. She would have a beer opening ceremony where she would pop the top and take a swig and then tell you if she liked it.
I've watched several full concerts from Band-Maid. They continue to impress me, and I wish more bands would be more 'real' and interactive with the crowds. These ladies are so talented and humble, I think they have a really bright future. The Misa 'Opening Ceremony' is an ongoing event for her to open a beer between sets, Akane sometimes eats a banana during the break, and Miku entertains the crowd. It's not for everyone...many times they actually talk to people in the crowd. If you're not a deep Band-Maid fan...the video is not really interesting.
You were right about them entertaining the crowd during a break. They do this several times during each show, with another led by Saiki and Kanami. I think it would be awesome if you're actually there in the crowd.
Band-Maid is my fav band; I adore their music. But this magic spell time is not my thing lol; it's so not my thing that I won't even watch this vid lol. Just too much cutesy for my aesthetics (I'm' not a fan of the whole maid aesthetic). I'll sit thru it with a big smile on my face tho because I love the music and the real life members of the band too much.
I think I'm in the minority. I don't like Omajinai Time. I was looking forward to the live at Tokyo Garden Theater. You gave the live performance of “Alone” at this venue a score that was not high for BAND-MAID. Actually, I also felt that the performance lacked a sense of tension, not just that song. And the boring time like Omajinai Time was quite long. It was the most disappointing BAND-MAID live I've ever seen. I personally agree with your assessment of Omajinai and Alone.
The whole "Omajinai Time" Miku interaction with the crowd (while Saiki takes a pee break) thing worked a lot better in smaller more intimate venues, where she could work the crowd and make stuff up as she goes. There are a number of Omajinai TIme "best of" compilations out there that do far better justice. My personal favorite was Paris 2019 when she got the mostly male hard rock/metal crowd singing a Japanese children's song. The song was intended for 3-4 year old's. The other girls looked on in amazement that Miku managed it.
@@rockandrollrockandrollrock6930 The fact that you are here doesnt change the following facts a) This clip is not related with Music at all b) It was given "no score" by David which proves the point that this particular video was pointless and meaningless in terms of any pleasure and excitement watching it by the reactor c) If you have eyes and ears - you would definitely see that D had zero fun watching all of this for 7 minutes. All these 3 facts tells that it was a troll request. If you dont realize it yourself - then I am sorry, I dont see any slight chance to explain logic to the one who is not capable to see the logic.
They use it to rest Saiki their lead singers voice with Miku being the MC.
You always love crowd interaction and say how important it is, so I expect at least a 9.0..... po! 😂
Exactly
If you were saying this out loud in your daily life, I think your brain broke down. perhaps.
我花了十分钟看了些什么?这大概是女仆咖啡厅里对蛋包饭施展魔法的咒语运用到演唱会上了?只能说这不适合用来做reaction,更不用说对于那些Band-Maid没有深入了解的观众,不过还是respect
Hey. I’d welcome your reaction and analysis of Danko Jones - I want out. Cheers
Misa was drinking Yingling, a beer from Pennsylvania, I think?
Yeah, this was waaaay out of context if you don't know what's going on. Yet they're doing the MC's in ENGLISH on the US tours which is so impressive to me. Even MISA and Akane. If they just sat there and made each other laugh I would absolutely enjoy it. That's their magnetism for me. They can never not do their MC stuff. Then add the Awesome music and you'll know whey they are my favorite current Rock band.
Who thought he would get this?
My guess is the point of this request was to give you a better idea of the level of crowd engagement and relationship Band Maid has with their fans. It's a staple of Band Maid shows and their/we fans love them and the intermissions for it.
I wouldn't have minded that someone requested this but now it's just another example of (*dead horse beating noises*) poor responsibility by requesters. I'm under the impression that not communicating with David on Patreon about something that isn't a song was the irresponsibility that led to a complete lack of info and details to go along with it. Either way any real entertainment value it could have had is lost for both David and us.
David don't get it😂.
I understand that. The whole thing was off context.
Who suggest such thing?
Normally, the rest of the band pranks behind Miku's back and she anticipates being pranked and make it into a "Comedy Sketch", which is the fun part.
Unless you haven't gone to one of their shows, this part tends to be boring.
It's a shame whoever gave you the request had to pick one of the more "lame" Magic Spell Time.
This request and reaction are almost a kind of accident.......
It would be better if it was just Miku, as you say. The others look vaguely awkward and having seen Misa take her swig of a drink, many times, it does not really add anything for me.
I should add Miku has carried out this part of Band Maids show for a long time so it is popular with many.
yes it is different than most bands but nice to entertain during a break in a 2-3hr show
I like band maid but I don't understand this as a reaction request.
When I saw them in Dallas last year I thought I was prepared for how fun this would be ... I was soooo wrong . Seeing them take over the venue during this down time was just smile central . All of them are naturally funny, warm ,and personable ... Looking format[rd to seeing them again this year .
Why the hell would someone ask for a reaction to this? I don't get it.
Band-Maid fact: Misa is a drinker and loves her alcohol. During the fall tour in '22, Misa would drink a local or regional beer from the area they were playing that night. She would have a beer opening ceremony where she would pop the top and take a swig and then tell you if she liked it.
Misa always drinks 🍺 Beer on stage, just like Miho, typically for bassists! After the show Whiskey 🥃
Hahahahahaha..😂😂😂u so confius bro 😂😂😂
Lol. Omajinai time is essential for each band maid serving. It's not just a band vreak time. Haha
Truly you have to be there.
I am confused what was this
trolling level: off the scales...
I couldn't get past the first 20 seconds. Waayyyy too much cringe.
lol
You were right about them entertaining the crowd during a break. They do this several times during each show, with another led by Saiki and Kanami. I think it would be awesome if you're actually there in the crowd.
Band-Maid is my fav band; I adore their music. But this magic spell time is not my thing lol; it's so not my thing that I won't even watch this vid lol. Just too much cutesy for my aesthetics (I'm' not a fan of the whole maid aesthetic). I'll sit thru it with a big smile on my face tho because I love the music and the real life members of the band too much.
i hope you and Mrs. Heretic get to see them live on this tour so you can experience them in person
I was at this show
FCKN WHAAAA!
Another "troll request". Please ban the requester. Because this clip had zero relation to Music.
get the sand out of ur crack :D
If that's true. then he's paying $100 a month to be a troll. That's how much his silver tier costs.
@@billb.5183It doesnt matter how much does he pay. Some people pay 1000$+ to kill rare animals on safari.
@@vinograd74 well I’m right here and I’m a huge maid fan. What’s up? Your too cool for omajinia time? You don’t join po?
@@rockandrollrockandrollrock6930 The fact that you are here doesnt change the following facts a) This clip is not related with Music at all b) It was given "no score" by David which proves the point that this particular video was pointless and meaningless in terms of any pleasure and excitement watching it by the reactor c) If you have eyes and ears - you would definitely see that D had zero fun watching all of this for 7 minutes. All these 3 facts tells that it was a troll request. If you dont realize it yourself - then I am sorry, I dont see any slight chance to explain logic to the one who is not capable to see the logic. And by the way I am also a fan of Band Maid. But never in a million years I would spend valuable time of my favorite reactors to explore the material they are guaranteed to not dig at all. And if you think that such clips works for the better of BandMaid popularity - well that seems to me kind of dellusional.
