Yep, Kanami Tono is the lead guitarist and plays a PRS. The rhythm guitarist Miku Kobato plays a Zemaitis and it's her signature "Flappy Pigeon" model. You just found the best and most fun band in the universe.

I ran into the ladies of Band-Maid a little over two years ago and was shocked at their huge catalog of great music. "HATE?" was song 27 in 33 song setlist during their 3-1/2 hour Tenth Anniversary Tour Final at Yokohama Arena. Band-Maid had been planning this concert while touring North America and Japan during the Summer of 2023 and still had songs that didn't make the setlist, so they held an "Overflow Concert" a few months later and played 20 more songs that did not make it on the previous set list. Band-Maid has a deep, deep catalog that any classic rock band would envy and they are brilliant live on stage. I saw them in Detroit at a small club in front of 800-900 people and they blew us away. I then saw them at an outdoor Metal Festival and they killed it there too. These ladies are gear-heads and know exactly what they are doing.
Just go to their TH-cam channel and pick songs at random, especially their live tracks. There is no better live band. Don't try to pin down their genre: they blend metal, punk, alt, prog, rap, classic, jazz fusion, and pop into their own unique Band-Maid style.

Miku Kobato, the founder of the band, is playing her signature Zemaitus "Flappy Pigeon" guitar. Kanami is playing her PRS, and is the main composer for the band. The bass player is called The Barefoot Assassin", her name is MISA. 10 years of musical excellence!
Miku is also the lyricist although this one was penned by Saiki (vocals) after getting seriously pissed off with someone. Miku's lyrics are generally uplifting and motivational

Welcome Masters and Princesses to the best rock band on the planet. These beautiful ladies are in their early 30s now and have been rocking for 10 years with plenty of Solo work from Misa (bass) and Kanami (lead). Drum fills and solos from Akane are killer. The great thing is they always look so happy.
Thrill the track that blew them up on the world stage, after a slow start it suddenly went viral outside of Japan after being shown on Facebook (the label was about drop them when this happened in 2015), Domination, Dice, Freedom, Onset, From now on, Without Holding Back, Hate? Are all great tracks and they have an extensive back catalogue (130+ tracks).
The 5 Band-Maid members:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. The youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions.
MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku), "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals and lyricist. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon. I believe she couldn’t play very well when she formed the band and was tutored by Kanami.
KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more!
AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa), "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Their Battle Gear as they call it with slight variations are standard French maid outfits for Akane, Miku and Kanami, MISA ditched the French maid outfit early on she started to wear a Chinese inspired maid outfit - in black of course. It's partly how MISA got her nickname 'The Barefoot Assassin'. Well, she always plays barefoot, and Miku joked her outfit was an “assassin maid”. Saiki's outfit is Spanish inspired. Any Maids track always ROCKS as they come for your soul.
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. Thanks for the fun reaction. I love these girls. Take a listen to a recent instrumental from them - From Now On. It really highlights the players. Especially the lead guitar/songwriter, Kanami, and the drummer, Akane. The two played together and were close friends even before Band Maid was formed 10 years ago.
The fifth member is Miku. She plays rhythm on a Zemaitis "Flappy Pigeon". She's kind of nailed down back by the drums because she sings the backing vocals and thats where her stand is.
She's also the band founder, primary lyricist, Spokespigeon, leader of the band, plays the ponies successfully, and is a Top Flight Poker player. Oh one more, per MISA she the bands producer.

The lady with the PRS is Kanami, one of the best guitarists currently playing! MISA is the bassist she was dueling with, and one of the best bassists currently playing. In the back is drummer Akane, also a virtuoso! The lead singer is Saiki, one of the sultriest voices in rock. Now let's talk about the OTHER girl with a guitar. Yeah, that one! That's Miku, the band's founder, rhythm guitarist, second vocalist, public face of the band, and the band's spokespigeon! She has her own signature Zemaitis model, the "Flappy Pigeon," although she is a rhythm guitarist. She's also an 810-year-old pigeon disguised as a human! It's a running joke because her last name Kobato means "small pigeon" in Japanese, and the Japanese characters that make up her name also represent the numbers 8 and 10, so she combined them to come up with the story that she's 810 years old ... and a pigeon, lol! When she speaks to the crowd, the punctuates most of her sentences with "Po!" That is short for "kuruppo," which is an onomatopoeia in Japanese that represents the sound of a pigeon's coo. If you love guitar players, I recommend a couple of nice colleagues of Band Maid, also from Japan, but from the heavy metal scene: Lovebites and Nemophila. 2 bands with 2 lead guitarists each. Band Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila are the best I've heard in the last 25 years.
These 3 bands and a few others from Japan have brought back the love of music to many of us western rock fans. 🤘🤘

Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26 last year and got blown away 😍. (You know? The concert was 3-hour-40-minutes long with 33-song setlist)
Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead.
Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition.
Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition.
Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music.
Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well)
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance.
And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD!

Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited)
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their TH-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill.
Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid.

And they started as a real band should - driving (kanami the only one with a licence) themselves and their gear around sketchy venues in Tokyo (booked by Akane) , lugging their own gear, posting their own bills and selling merch and tickets.
At this point they just had a basic record deal hussled for them by miku.
They've kept that kind of self reliance. They played songs written for them and produced by a freelance producer until they cut loose and now do everything themselves with a trusty team.
