I used to watch him in high school and this kid was special. I’m glad to see him killing it in the league
My son played pee wee ball in Vegas with Puka. The thing that stood out about him even at 11 years old was how hard he was to tackle. So fun to see him killing it in the NFL. Thanks to Cooper Kupp for taking a time out and giving him a chance.

He is a football player: run, catch, block,… When he played at BYU he was a difference maker. Problem he missed a lot of games.
Heart and grit is an intangible that is worth more than pure talent. It's just very hard to see in an NFL that is made with immediate gratification picks. Tom Brady is the ultimate example of being passed over and becoming great. Hell, Kupp is another example of a great player that wasn't projected to do well. So props to the Rams for finding intangibles.

I played rugby in NZ and had a mate who wasn't the fastest but he just seemed to have all the time in the world when he has the ball. These type of players have something else, something better.

It's pretty simple for me. Chargers spent a 1 round pick on a man because of his athleticism, even he can't catch the ball. Rams spent a 5 round pick on a man because of his hability in catching. Wow, receiver is basically catching the ball when it comes to you. Puka is a lot better until this moment.

this is proof that the NFL scouts have no idea what they are doing.
He was supposed to be a 1st & 2nd round pick but his knee caused him to drop in the draft.
NFL evaluation process is flawed. They place a premium on athleticism rather relying on film and placing a premium on just being a football player. Scouts probably thought he was the wrong color as well. It will get better over time.
@Davbaldwin1 Color had no influence on his draft position, it was his injury history and combine data. Pass catchers have historically existed in all hues, i.e. Welker, Kupp, Hines Ward, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Tim Dwight, Calvin Johnson, etc etc. There are hundreds of examples of all "colors" playing WR.
Plus, Nacua is Samoan and, in case you're not familiar with Samoans, they're brown people (which, by the tone of your comment, I believe you were implying that he was not "brown" or "black" hence not considered a strong WR candidate.)

Just shows how terrible the combine is at measuring a players ability to play football. How many times do we see some player with an amazing combine just tank in real football situations and then you got guys like Puka who's measurables weren't great but when he gets on the field he's a monster
The 40 and all combine drills should be done in full football gear. That said competitiveness on the field is a different animal than competitiveness in a drill.
