I received my Cricut Joy for Christmas of 2019. Since I'm a seamstress, I used it to cut out initials from fabric. That worked fine. I have purchase and Easy Press 2, the pressing mat and a smart vinyl bundle to add the names of my grandchildren to a blanket for each child. So far, I have 3 done and 3 to go. I love your video because I did try to use my leftovers on a mat. Now I know how. Thanks again.
I've really been appreciating both you and your tutorials very much. This might be a total overshare, but after losing my mom I had such a hard time with church and God, partially out of anger and partially because some of my fondest memories are of going to church with my mom. It's been a struggle. But your tutorials like this and the ones where you use scripture have brought me back in such an unexpected way. My church does livestreams of services and I plan on attending those now. And I look forward to having my joy and making a cute mug like this to enjoy and use while I attend service. Thank you so much for your lovely demeanor and helpful tutorials!!
Faith, thank you so much for sharing this with me, as one of my main reasons for starting a channel was to try and be a light for others. Thank you for centering me and reminding me of why I started. Also, I believe God works in the craziest of ways and I’m so glad He was able to use me to encourage you. I’m so sorry to hear of you losing your mom. ❤️
I am loving your videos/tutorials. You make great projects & your voice is lovely to listen to (I'm in Australia). I only just received my Cricut Joy on Friday for my birthday. I am on a steep learning curve never having owned anything like this before. Thank you for walking us through Design Space - I am lost & haven't been able to work out how to navigate it properly just yet. So keep that info coming please. So glad you've shared how to use leftovers. Every tutorial I've watched so far has made me think "so much waste". Looking forward to lots more from you. Thank you.
Congratulations and Happy Birthday, Patrice! I am so excited for you! You are dong the right thing by watching tutorials and learning, because it will help build your confidence as you practice with your new Joy! I can't wait to hear about your first project! Have so much fun!
I have only recently purchased a Cricut Joy and was wondering what to do with the smaller left over scraps. This has helped me so much , glad I saved them now 🙂 thank you for all the tips also 👍 Lisa from England 🇬🇧
I love your videos, but..... the stark white desk background washes everything out You might try laying down some white woodgrainnn B paper or poster board You can get at hobby stores and Joanns
Bethany, I have not used vinyl yet. I'm preparing to use it for the first time this Labor Day weekend. Thank you for this easy to follow video that has inspired me to do something small first (Pray).
Love your videos. Your craft area is always so prepared with all your tools and materials ready, that takes great planning. I would love to be this organized :).
Im so glad youre making these for the cricut joy. Im new like brand new to the cricut world and i just purchased the cricut joy since im not very artsy. You given me great ideas and i love it. Keep doing more videos! Thanks :)
@@Bethadilly thank you! I made a mothers day card for my mom and it was extremely easy. Im so excited to print labels for my spices soon! I look forward to more videos from you. 🥰❤
What are you using and how did you make it as your crafting work surface. I just got my Cricut Joy a few weeks ago and love your videos. They are really helpful!
Your video was helpful for me, I am new to the joy and I can't tell you how much vinyl i have thrown out because i didn't know what to do with it. Went surfing on TH-cam and found your video thank you thank you for posting this!!!!!
How do you ungroup a design. I have octopus tentacles that are three separate ones in the design but I want to cut them separately to go on my sup board? Great Joy videos!
I can’t believe this video popped up in my notifications tonight. I cut something earlier from smart vinyl and had a piece left over that I did not want to get rid of. But then I looked and it only had the margin on one side. I thought to myself that I need to get in touch with Beth to ask her how to use leftover smart vinyl. Thank you so much for this video. Without my even asking, you answered my question. Do you mark the back of your leftover pieces so you know what they are? I have some pieces in a container but I’m not sure what they are.
Your videos are very informative. It would be really helpful if you use darker materials when you demo. Thank you for your time, knowledge and sharing.
Glad you’re enjoying my content! My style and eye gravitate towards lighter colors because I like them best, and I’m just sharing projects that I’m currently working on. So happy you’re finding my videos informative!
Really nice tutorial. Have one question - Did my first labels with the cricut smart labels and was kinda disappointed because there are about 3 places where the ink kind of either dripped or barely just touched the white vinyl. Seems like it did it when the pen was moving around going from place to place. Did notice that the smart vinyl is really curly, so maybe I should have flattened it better. If you could make any suggestions, sure would appreciate it. Think I'm going to redo it because I got brand new cannisters and know I'm not going to be happy with it because I will see it even if no one else does. Thank you Bethany.♥
Hi Teresa! Funny you should ask because I just filmed a SmartVinyl tutorial this morning and it will be live later this evening! One thing I was very mindful of was to unroll my vinyl and allow it to lay on my table or drape off my table because it looks like it potentially can bubble up and it made me nervous with the pen. Also, maybe try priming your pen on paper beforehand to make sure the ink is flowing smoothly out of your pen! I hope this helps!
I love your video. I am new with Cricut Joy. Do you have any videos on uploading free fonts or images? And, any Design Space videos please. Thank You. I am going to make a pray mug as well. 🙏
I am having trouble whenever I load the material on the mat and I feed it in to align it runs it through and then it unloads right away. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Can I use non smart vinyl scraps like Oracal vinyl on the cutting mat with the Joy? All the videos I’ve watched only show Smart Vinyl scraps being used.
Yes! I love that you can place Smart Vinyl and regular vinyl onto the mat for cutting, as it allows me to still use other vinyl that I already have. So great!
Hello Bethany! I have a question for you, and so sorry to ask, but I have a Explorer Air 2 and I was making with some Permanent Vinyl scraps a Plant Image for a Plastic vase I have that I was going to transfer my Christmas Cactus in. Well, my Permanent Vinyl would not stick to the plastic vase. I had used regular transfer tape, then tried Stronger Transfer Tape. I cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol before applying, but it would not stick. What did I do wrong? Any ideas? Thanks much!
It sounds like you did everything right! It’s hard to know what happened, but I also have had some trouble in the past with certain plastics. I tried putting some vinyl on some plastic bins and it was really tricky, as the vinyl didn’t want to stick. It may be a plastic issue, but I’m unsure because some plastics work just fine.
Thank you so much, Tammy! It is from 651vinyl.com and I also make sure to link all of my materials and tools within the description box below the video so you know exactly what I am working with!
Great question! Like anything, your mug will probably show wear after some time. I honestly have been putting my mugs in the dishwasher for quite a while and they still look brand new. Handwashing is recommended to get longer life out of your project. Hope this helps!
Hi! I'm new to cricut. Could you do a tutorial on how to recreate the cartridge labels like #M134C7983. Specifically, how they get the outline to wrap around the image? Also, is there a way to save your place in in "Images" when you want to click into a cartridge set and then go back to the list of cartridges and keep scrolling? Thanks!
Oh my gosh, I just looked up those labels and they are so neat! I think that would be a fun project, specifically for print then cut, if you flatten the file! When I am browsing for files in Design Space, I like to keep a project just for inspiration that way I can keep adding images to that specific project to "keep." I hope this helps in some way!

Is there any kind of vinyl for the Joy that already has transfer sheet on it already, instead of using the transfer tape.
Hi. Can i do this with the iron on smart vinyl also??
I just have the Joy so I appreciate videos especially for it. You are so thorough-thanks

I don’t, but that is a good idea if you aren’t sure what your material is!
How did you make the stickers for your joy
Thank you for sharing.
How to maximize the vinyl from the top and left side? There is always a big margin when I try to cut using cricut joy. Thank you.
Thank you for this video! I was going to ask if we can use any of the vinyl. I’m guessing you can as long as you use the mat.
Can you do the text with the Cricut joy app? I can’t find design space in the App Store
Wonderful project and tutorial. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Thank you, Susan! I am so glad you enjoyed it!
I like your videos because you explain perfectly. I try to make it but the tranfer tape did work it. I dont know what happed.
Thankyou very well explained 😘

Hi ... nice job 💕
Mayra Rivera thanks so much!
Thank you for the tips on using my leftover vinyl - I am much more careful now to see what I can salvage before I weed because of you
Yes! Always save your leftovers!
I never got that mat with my CJ. After all, it's a matless machine.
Are you sure yours came with one? Thanks
Yes, I am sure. If you read the product description, a standard grip mat is included with the Cricut Joy.

Instead of moving each letter closer, can you change letter spacing to 0?
Yes, you totally can Linda! I have always just loved to manually do it!
Using a lint roller to hold your mug will help hold it steady.
Do you seal the vinyl on your cup or do you recommend hand washing only. Thank you!
I don't seal mine! It's recommended to hand wash only, and avoid the microwave! I honestly put mine in the dishwasher from time to time. :)

Totally! I use non-smart vinyl scraps in my Joy 90% of the time or more!
The cup cute, But..
Aww🙁 not dishwasher safe..
Maybe use the vinyl as a stencil to paint
directly onto the cup with dishwasher safe paint...lol
You can put it onto the green cutting mat as any normal vinyl.

Can you use the Brand Craftopia Vinyl with a Cricut Joy Machine?
Caitlin Richardson I have never used that brand, but I often use Oracle 651 vinyl and you simply place it on the green cutting mat for cutting!

When you're not going to iron the image, you don't have to mirror and you need to add transfer tape.
Correct. This video is demonstrating adhesive vinyl. :)
Could you zoom in a little so we can better see the project? Hugs
Definitely! My future videos are more mindful of getting a closer angle!
Really!? The vinyls can’t go in the microwave?
It’s recommend to avoid it to preserve the life of the vinyl.
I really like your videos but as others have said you do white on white backgrounds impossible to see.
My earlier videos were a tad bright but I changed a setting and all future videos are remedied.
