OOOOHHHHH WOW Bethany!!!! I had to stop your video and go listen to that song!!! It is just AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL how Heavenly Father works!!!! That song tells my story! This is EXACTLY how I feel at this point in my life. I had just lost my youngest son of 4 children, June 5th of 2020 just 5 days after his 29th birthday to colectoral cancer. What an ugly year and 4 month battle that was, but at the same time...what a beautiful outcome sprang forth. Among all the pain of watching my baby suffer and then dealing with such a painful loss, I have been blessed. I have been taught strength that I never thought I could or ever would poses. I have overcome the obstacles that stood in my way of growing closer to my Heavenly Father. I call this a "Painfully needed blessing" & though it hurts tremendously, I am grateful for this lesson. I KNOW I am not alone in this...I KNOW he, my father, my Heavenly Father and now my mother... are walking beside me, lifting me up when I think I cannot go on any longer. I AM GRATEFUL FOR MY SCARS🥰

I am learning to use my Cricut Joy, wanting to make stencils to use on T-shirts for silk screening, your videos are about the the best I have found as far as EXPLAINING WHAT TO DO IN DESIGN SPACE. I get really frustrating not knowing how to do all of this, but I'm trying to watch your videos to know what to click on, maybe I will continually watch them over and over, and hopefully I learn.... but thank you for your video. I hope you make more that explain what to actually click on and where. To make stencils for the CRICUT JOY, THANK YOU SO MUCH, am gonna watch this again to learn.

I just ordered a Cricut Joy last night but have been watching videos for the past week. What I am doing is making "future" projects in design space using what you are teaching. Then when I get the Joy I can just start right in. I am getting familiar with design space while I wait.

I ride a motorcycle with confidence and yet, my Brother Innovis 1500 embroidery/sewing machine gives me panic attacks. I didn't know what I was getting into with Cricut and had thought about getting into it for a long time but didn't want to increase my crafting anxiety. Surprise! Watching your videos has not only helped me with my embroidering but I have no fear at all with creating vinyl embellishments for every blank space in my apartment! And my motorcycle has a few little add-ons as well.

I just got my Joy. Thank you so much for your informative videos. For some reason my design page only goes from 0-13 grid. Yours goes to 34. Can't figure out how to change this? Also, when I insert a shape, there are no indicators to allow me to unlock, move, etc. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Your info is exactly what I am trying to learn because I want to make a sign just like yours for Xmas. Thanks for your help.
I am waiting for my Joy to arrive, I love the fact that it is small because I don't have space for a big one, and I will be making smaller decals for my watercolor boxes
If you leave the transfer backing on, you can position it without it sticking . Then tape it at the top onto your wood. Peel the transfer tape upward with the vinyl attached. Remove the backing then spread the transfer tape into your surface. 👍🏻

Hey Erica! I think the main question would be what you want to use it for. It obviously cannot do as much as the Maker, in materials and size of cuts (expect the long length, yay!). But if you were only doing small and basic things on your Maker, then you may find that the Joy meets your needs. Maybe look through the materials the Joy can cut and see if that will meet your needs! I personally have both and will still use my Maker as my main machine, but find that the long lengths of the Joy and the matless cutting were intriguing to me and I am finding that I really love the Joy! I hope this helps!
Hello Jo! Wonderful question! This was my very first time working with the Cricut transfer sheets so I definitely should have kept it and re-used it because the stick was still there! Usually I try to re-use my regular transfer tape that I use, but forgot this time in the excitement! Definitely will in the future, if it looks like it could do another project!

If I were to make a banner for the front of a car with this, I know I could make the length since it prints longer pieces with the smart vinyl, but how would I curve the words for the windshield?
For this tutorial, Cricut Smart Vinyl was demonstrated. I don’t know of an off brand vinyl that does the continuous cutting for the Joy machine. The materials I use are in the description box below the video.
You sure can! You'll just want to be mindful of your size. Here is tutorial I did on cupcake toppers, but with the Maker. You can do the same with the Joy!

If you want to use your own SVG file, you will simply upload it into Design Space and then you'll remove the background if needed! I know this sounds a little complicated, so if you search for "uploading images to Design Space" or something similar, there will be video tutorials to help you with that. I don't have a video on it, but there are many out there!

I am debating on getting this machine and stumbled on your videos and am so happy! I was wondering if you are able to make Die cut stickers on the joy? I’m debating on what machine to get and I will primarily be using it to make stickers but it seems like this machine might not be able to.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my channel! I think if you’re primary purpose is stickers, I would recommend another machine. The Joy can only do basic vinyl stickers, which the Explore Air 2 or Maker can print stickers on sticker paper or vinyl to make detailed stickers to be cut out. I have a planner stickers tutorial that you may want to watch, to see other stickers that are possible with the bigger machines.
@@Bethadilly Okay great. And does it automatically set the machine to cut vertically when you set dimensions longer than the 4.5 width that the machine is set for?
The Joy will automatically place the items on the mat to fit! And if you are using continuous cutting, without a mat, then it will most likely auto it to a vertical cut! You will always see a preview of your cut before it actually cuts, in case you want to rearrange or make any corrections!
I do, from time to time. Honestly, I find the transfer tape to be very cost effective so I don’t stress about tossing it but that is personal preference. Also, when peeling transfer tape from painted wood, it sometimes leaves a residue on the tape that I prefer tossing!

Strong transfer tape is used with the Shimmer and glitter vinyls.

I do, but I do not use Design Space on it because I don’t prefer designing on my iPad and enjoy using a bigger screen and mouse. :)

I personally pay annually, but yes I believe there is a monthly option as well!
How do we group with the iPad. It looks easy with windows, with a mouse. But fat fingers are different.
I don’t use the iPad or phone version so I don’t offer tutorials on that. I only use desktop, as the layout is much better. :)

I am debating on getting this machine and stumbled on your videos and am so happy! I was wondering if you are able to make Die cut stickers on the joy? I’m debating on what machine to get and I will primarily be using it to make stickers but it seems like this machine might not be able to.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my channel! I think if you’re primary purpose is stickers, I would recommend another machine. The Joy can only do basic vinyl stickers, which the Explore Air 2 or Maker can print stickers on sticker paper or vinyl to make detailed stickers to be cut out. I have a planner stickers tutorial that you may want to watch, to see other stickers that are possible with the bigger machines.

Parchment paper on the transfer paper will help you place it righ without sticking

What about non-cricut vinyl like siser? How would you do this with a different vinyl?
You would just need to divide up the design and cut it in multiple sections and then reassemble it on your project!
@@Bethadilly Okay great. And does it automatically set the machine to cut vertically when you set dimensions longer than the 4.5 width that the machine is set for?
The Joy will automatically place the items on the mat to fit! And if you are using continuous cutting, without a mat, then it will most likely auto it to a vertical cut! You will always see a preview of your cut before it actually cuts, in case you want to rearrange or make any corrections!

Why don’t you reuse your transfer tape? I use mine over and over.
I do, from time to time. Honestly, I find the transfer tape to be very cost effective so I don’t stress about tossing it but that is personal preference. Also, when peeling transfer tape from painted wood, it sometimes leaves a residue on the tape that I prefer tossing!
