i always use contact paper from walmart , you get a giant roll for $5 well worth it and it transfers alot easier

Yes, smart vinyl has a different thickness to it that is better with the proper transfer tape. :)
Ok the cricut joy is actually a lot heavier than it looks to be honest watching these videos made me think that it’s not that heavy at all but when I got it and realised how heavy it is I was like wow that’s heavy can you also pls do a full how to make a tea cup card with cricut joy without the card mat pls 🥺

I'm thinking of getting myself A Cricut Joy someday since its so smalll and adorable plus I don't a designated crafting room or anything so I think this little tiny Cricut will be perfect.
That's so exciting, Jillian! Yes, it is a wonderful machine if you don't have much space to craft or don't have a designated craft space because it is so easy to move around! This would be a wonderful fit for you!
That's basically why I want it I wantvto.expand my crafting boundaries but I don't have a craftroom or even any type of designated crafting space at this point in time I've been seeing all cool things that can be done with. Cricut machine but I have no room for either of the bigger Cricuts. If I do get this little machine one day it will be my first one.

I am brand new to all of this. I ordered my Cricut Joy from HSN on Tues. I have never used any kind of these machines. I own a Gemini Jr to cut my metal dies with. There is no compunter involved. I got my first Cricut ever for Christmas. 2021. My daughter and son said it was for beginners. That's me. I'm terrified I am going to do something wrong. I set mine up for the first time tonight. and I got as far in the set up to the access section. It didn't go any further. I can only imagine is because I didn't do the free month. So I started over and it still would not go past the access section again. So I didn't cut anything yet. Any suggestions.

I just purchase a cricut joy, black Friday, still in box I do have cricut explore air 2, easy press, 6x7 and 9x9. I do mostly cards, and sometimes I don't like working on the big machine, was it worth it by getting the joy machine. Help

Hi. I just got my 1st Cricut Joy. I just want to know how to get rid of about 1 inch margin everytime I feed the vinyl on the machine. It’s a waste of vinyl everytime I use it with that margin. Thanks!

The learning curve is the same for both, in my opinion. I’d recommend checking out Cricut’s machine comparison chart on Cricut’s website to see which machine works best for your crafting needs.
Hi Bethadilly... I’m new to Cricut and just got my Joy. Your videos are wonderful! I have a question about washing the mugs, glasses, etc. Is there a specific way to wash so stickers don’t come off.
Thank you Jane! It’s recommended that you hand wash them only, and avoid both the dishwasher and microwave to help them last longer!
The project came out great. Im just wondering if you put anything on the cup like mod lodge, so it doesn't come off while washing it?
Hi Marisa! I didn't apply any sort of sealer, and I haven't before. You definitely can apply a sealer, but so far I haven't had any problems with washing and upholding my vinyl!

Wonderful, Joann! I sure love mine! Yes, these would be amazing for a hubby too! I would say skip the scalloped border and either go without or use a simple circle border instead! You can also have fun with picking a color he likes for the vinyl! Happy crafting!
Hello. I am a new owner of Cricut Joy. I have watched this video twice to try to figure out the transfer tape & is it really needed? I assumed the vinyl was already to stick on products after cutting out. Am I wrong? Love your videos, very informative. Thank you. Marsha
Marsha Niemeyer hi Marsha! Yes, transfer tape is what takes the vinyl from the cutting sheet to the project (from the cutting sheet to the cup). I think transfer tape is 100% needed and it would be so hard without it!

I am very new to this and I have had my joy for a week now and have made a few things. My question to all is : would it be best for me to get a laptop to continue using my joy to be able to progress with crafts ? Or should I just tuff it out with my phone ? I find it difficult to mimic what crafters are doing on Cricut design using my phone
Congratulations on your Joy! I really don’t have an opinion on what device to use, as I’ve only used the computer version of Design Space. But I will say that I like the computer version a lot just for the pure fact that it is a bigger screen to design on.

Sheena if you are wanting to do print then cut, for detailed labels, you will want to get an Explore Air 2 or Maker. You may want to really look into the differences of the machines to make sure your getting the right one for your needs! In the video link I sent you, detailed images like the one I upload in that tutorial will not work on the Joy.

Making first cards with my Joy. The writing had some uneven spacing between letters. I did not filter for writing fonts first. Could that be the cause?
I would definitely use the filter first. I am sorry it is doing that, but I can't pinpoint exactly why. I wouldn't think it would be the filter issue if it looks good on your screen, but writes differently. I am sorry I can't be of more help, I just haven't run into this issue myself yet!

I’m debating between the joy and the explore air 2... what is the drawback from getting the joy instead? I want to make stickers, decals, labels and tshirt designs
Because you mentioned shirts and stickers, I would probably recommend the Explore Air 2 between the two. The Joy can still do shirts but the size is limited unless you get creative with how you arrange your material on the mat, which is doable! Also, stickers are basic on the Joy and you’ll have more options for how to make stickers with the Explore Air 2. As always, deciding the right machine is a personal decision but I think the Explore Air 2 makes shirts and stickers much easier!

Congratulations! For t-shirts you will use Iron On or HTV, not the vinyl used in this tutorial! I have t-shirt making tutorials with the Joy on my channel, if you’d like to see the process!

Hi Shayne! If your design isn’t staying on your material, be sure to double check the heat guide to make sure you have the right temp, pressing time, and that you’re peeling at the right temp. It may be that you’re peeling up the carrier sheet too soon. I have several Cricut Joy Smart Iron On tutorials in my Cricut Joy playlist! Be sure to watch those!

Hi Nancy! Yes. Personally, I wouldn’t be able to craft successfully without it.
Can you use a Samsung tablet instead of your cell phone?
I’m unfamiliar with Samsung, but if it has the Cricut Design Space app then yes!!

It is recommended to hand wash to extend the amount of time the vinyl lasts and looks nice. I honestly put mine in the dishwasher all the time because I am lazy with hand washing, and it does just fine. But I also have the ability to eventually remake my monogram if it shows wear. If you are making this for someone else, I would still recommend hand washing so they can preserve the vinyl for a longer time!
This is a great video! My cricut joy is arriving on Friday 😄 I want to try this project! I’m curious - will the vinyl eventually come off after using/washing the cup so many times?
Yay! Congratulations on your Joy, Alyssa! As for the vinyl, it will really depend on how you care for it. Avoiding the dishwasher, microwave and not leaving it soaking in water are all ways to help care for it. Handwashing only is recommended to help keep it protected. Honestly, it stays put really nice. I even put mine in the dishwasher (because I am lazy, ha ha) and it still looks amazing!

Do you subscribe to the Cricut Access to get all you fonts/designs?
Cynthia Hunley yes! You get most of the images and fonts when you pay for Cricut Access, but some of their items (like Disney branded items) you still need to pay for.
If you need a weeding tool, i wonder why it doesnt come with one
Yes, tools are sold separately and not all projects require weeding tools. For example, paper crafts and Infusible ink crafts can be done without a weeding tool.
