You can cut down regular vynil to fit. Regular vynil is 12 inches wide so you can just cut 4 inch strip and use that. You don't have to buy the joy vynil unless you want the smart vynil that requires no mat. I'd buy this machine but definitely use my vynil and accessories I already have
@@IanSparksRC Two things to understand: 1 - The US price doesn't include the UK's 20% VAT (sales tax is done separately in the US and varies per state) 2 - The pound can in general get you 8% more "stuff" for the numerically equivalent price (Purchasing Power Parity is about 0.7 vs the banking exchange rate at 0.75 GBP per USD) I.e. $100 (in pounds) spent in the UK would get you $108 worth of stuff, had it been bought at US prices (in the US). This leaves more money for "luxuries" like a Cricut, so although it's a little more expensive in GBP even accounting for VAT, it is also technically slightly more affordable to someone in the UK. The two taken together, VAT and PPP, bring the UK price within a few pounds of the US price. This is in fact exactly how regional prices are set (i.e. by "affordability" in the target market) - it's so close between the US and UK that they quite often just use the same number.
If you mean place it back on the adhesive side then yes! It is essential for sustaining the life of the adhesive and prevents material from catching on it. Don’t throw it away if you first get one
And the tote isn't worth it if it's that small! Tools as well as vynil and maybe at least one pack of cards should have a spot too, now you have to carry 2 bags one for you machine and another for supplies. Just buy a big tote bag at Walmart for way cheaper so you can carry everything together. It's not convenient or comfortable to carry those tall packages of vynil sticking out like that.
I swear by the Luxja bags at amazon. I have one for both my machines. The one for joy has a flap on the back for a ton of tools and accessories rather than a pocket like the cricut bag
Can you use the labels, the adhesive backed paper, and the writable paper on the Air 2? Do you need to use transfer tape with the smart vinyl because on the Cricut videos it looks like they just peel it off and put on the project.
I just got my cricket for christmas. I wish that the bag could carry more things so I could carry Vinyl with me too :/ maybe I can find a different bag to help my needs:)
I notice with blue card board being sold in multiples...after a lot of usage is it expected to replace the boards not just the card? I read a review on Amazon someone claimed there was no sticky residue (adhesive) on the green board that came with the machine to hold the "paper" material. I am considering but since I cannot purchase it at a store in my country, I would have to purchase online from official sellers. I really need to purchase everything I necessary to go with the machine at the same time. Just wondering is there anything I should keep in mind to buy especially if its recommended to get a replacement blade, extra boards etc. Thank you in advance.
Thank you for literally putting the joy in the bag and showing us how to do it correctly.
Going to pick up my Cricut Joy today at Joanns this was very helpful, thank you👍🏼
Yay I hope you love it and glad you found this helpful
Thank you for explaining the carrying case. I have it and didn't realize it could hold the mats, pens and tools!
You made me buy the bag. Thank goodness for JoAnn's coupons.
My Joanne won’t let me use coupons on any Cricut item.
I’m getting one this morning. I’ve been watching videos all night. 😅
Yay!!!! I'm so excited for you! Have you got a chance to play with it yet? What did you or are you making first
Hoping to have one🥺...for now just watching the tutorials about cricut
Yay! 😀 soak in all the info so you will be ready to go right out of the box ❤️
I want to get the Joy so badly so it is nice to know what I should maybe pickup for it if I ever do get the little machine.
Very detailed and informative video, I wish you could get this much help at Michaels. Well done.
Can you make stencils on the Joy? Would some info on this. Thanks.
So helpful! Will be sure to check all of these out!
Great video very detail and not too long, Thank you.
5:46. Can you use left over sections of the smart vinyl with a mat?
This has been my question on several of these videos..haven't found out yet🤔
Yes :)
yes you can :)
@@YouCanTotallyMakeThat thanks I'm anxiously awaiting my cricut joy delivery 🤭
@@lovingchange2761 your welcome! Your going to love it I just took mine on a trip to Houston
Thanks for such a awesome video
Do you have to use only the joy vinyl?

Thanks for sharing! i am new to your channel. Cheers
Thank you for this video
The card making mat can you use it more then once
Mention the price of those smart materials! They’re outrageous!
I’m contemplating on buying this, will it print on vellum paper?
Thank you.
Hi Crystal would this machine be suitable for hair bow making.
Yes, absolutely

You can buy it with it all, but it more expensive.e
It’s £179 in England, that’s around $250 US
We always get ripped off over here

I just bought a machine and have a question. With the black smart vinyl there is no white pen? If i want black labels with white writing what do i do?
Im thinking eventually there will be a white pen 🖊
You can also use the metallic pens
Hey , can you purchase the large roles of cricut vinyl and cut it down to fit in the joy ?xx
Yes sorry for the late reply I just seen this ❤️
Nicely done! Thank you!
With the Mats do you need to replace the clear film after you use every time please?
Yes!
If you mean place it back on the adhesive side then yes! It is essential for sustaining the life of the adhesive and prevents material from catching on it. Don’t throw it away if you first get one
Yes
I don’t care for the card and insert design. Can the Joy be used if you create your own cut files for the front of cards?
Thank you Crystal! My machine has not been delivered as planned (now next week - bummer). What is the largest size card you can make on the Joy? Bev
I think the max size of paper is 4 inches by 10.5 inches (I think)

I’m getting my Cricut Joy next week - my first Cricut. This video didn’t help me because I think it essentially told me to just buy everything. 😬
omg love you
Does the card mat not come with machine
The card mat is an add on. It does come the the green one

The adhesive backed paper can be used on any cricut since it goes on A mat.

Amazon has some great bags for the Joy.

Thank you in advance.
It does come with one small green mat I would recommend buying an extra blade and a blue mat and a card mat hope this helps
@@YouCanTotallyMakeThat Thank you I will certainly purchase the extra blade and relevant boards.
The only problem with the bag is that it has no space for materials such as iron-on and vinyls
Great information. Thank you!
