How come some dv888s come in a nice small box with the two holes in them and the yoyo slides out. and then some of them come in a cheapo cardboard backing with plastic shell front? whats the deal with that?
Cameverard old dv888 was unresponsive and it came in an professional looking box but nowdays this yoyo is responsive budget and just like other cheap quality yoyofactory yoyos this comes in an cheap package
They recently (well maybe a year or 2 ago) made a responsive version of it. I accidentally got the responsive version myself. Basically all you need to do is get a dv888 unresponsive kit (5-10 dollars on amazon or eBay maybe?) basically you're just replacing the bearing and pads with the type that the original unresponsive model came with. I installed that and for the most part it's pretty unresponsive. Sometimes if I haven't thrown in a while I have to re-break it in to get it unresponsive again, but no actual parts need to be changed once you install the kit. Should be an easy fix. :)
I haven't thrown in while, but I'm thinking about getting back into yoyos. I can throw a sleeper, walk the dog, around the world, etc. but not much else. I like that you can switch from responsive play to unresponsive play so once I'm ready to get into more difficult tricks, I won't have to buy another yoyo. My only concern is that the DV888 is smaller than a regular yoyo. Do you think that size would cause problems for me in the learning stage, or would it be fine since I know a couple of basics? Thanks!
MILBReview the dv888 was my first unresponsive/"real" yoyo and once I got into others that are full size I was thankful for having the dv888 first. It spins longer than any of my other throws, and it's super stable. I actually just ordered another one since my other one, being my first legit throw is all banged up. I absolutely love this yoyo. Buy it. I would also recommend the Magic Yoyo N12.

This yoyo sucks, it performs string tricks very poorly Edit: It throws really bad too, when you throw it properly, its still slightly slanted so its impossible to do string tricks

Yes the “little confusion” is a mini version of the “confusion” it is responsive too. The “confusion GT” is a wider version.

Because the pads r thicker on the newer version so there is still more friction but give it a couple weeks of play and the pads will break in
