I'm working on an old house that was never fitted with a gas dryer and I won't use electric, so I started checking TH-cam on how to run modern gas line, using flex pipe, and your video was the first thing to pop up. Thanks for the tutorial!
I just watched this video even thought it's a couple of years old. The work looks tidy, but there are at least a couple of things that should be avoided. Twisting the fittings rather than the nuts is not the way they are intended to be installed (look at about 19:00 minutes into the video). The fittings should be held securely with a wrench or pliers, and then the nut should be tightened onto the fitting. If you do it the other way (twisting the fitting), you're twisting the end of the CSST against the inner seal, which can deform it and/or cut it. The CSST should be pressed against the seal, not twisted into it. There are other considerations, too, but those are the ones I wanted to mention -- don't twist, and hold securely while tightening. Viewers, keep in mind, too, that not all jurisdictions allow CSST to be used.
Good video. Very helpful. Maybe spend a little less time on your layout. Price update: Jan 2024 now the cutter is $38! The good news is the affiliate link still works. A lot of time they don't and I wonder if the YT'er even knows they're no longer getting commission. Big thumbs up!
Never used home or pro flex. Maybe it's better now, but when that stuff first came out nothing but problems and leaks from fittings. I would go to a customer's house because they smelled gas and sure enough it was from the pro flex. We wouldn't even repair it. We would either re do the customers entire house in trac pipe, or shut down their tank until the contractor who installed it came back to fix it. There's a reason that stuff is a lot cheaper then trac pipe! Also you have to be certified to even buy trac pipe/ counter strike where has home depot will sell it to anyone. That's how people get hurt or dead But the job looks clean, not taking anything away from the craftsmanship, just the product

Very nice video sir, when it comes to gas installation I only (company demanded) black Iron. So, I enjoyed your video, can you tell me though, what did you use for your 90s, I went to proflex website and all I found were male, female, manifolds and tees?!?!?!?! Also, I wish I could get my apprentices to assemble parts outside like you did, would make my job so much easier.
Thanks David! For most 90's you just bend the ProFlex, but if you have a real tight spot you would need to use an iron fitting and two ProFlex adapter fittings or iron into the fitting and one ProFlex fitting out. Ideally you would jus bend the ProFlex as I did. The whole object is to use very few fittings and plan the run to have gradual bends. Hope that helps 😊

I've always been afraid to run gas lines! Glad you're testing these!
I'll be testing these lines myself, but the propane company will be testing as well when they hook-up the regulator. Should be very safe 😊

At 16:11 it looks like you wrapped the pipe backwards. I thought you should wrap in the tightening direction to keep the tape in place.

This kind of gas plumbing would be illegal in New York City.
100% legal here.
I saw blue tape. Tape is only used on compressed air not on C3H8 or CH4. I have my gas qualification from DOB in New York City and also Medical Gas Qualification.
The tape is "Blue Monster" PTFE Thread Seal Tape. It is rated for all natural gas, methane, propane, butane, and petroleum distillates.
Interesting and expensive 1:10
Teflon tape not allowed on natural gas neither are compression fittings.
This is propane, and yellow propane tape is used on the steel fittings. The Pro-Flex lines are 100% legal, and were installed properly.
