Original Morrowind looked good on my old 17" monitor at 800x600 that I was barely able to run it at, but it does not scale well to 1080p (or higher) displays that well, textures look too blurred out, etc. This mod (collection) makes it look amazing.

This makes me nostalgic for a game I've never played and barely seen. I cannot fathom the amount of nostalgia this must spark inside the people who grew up with the franchise.
I did grew up with this franchise. My father used to play Daggerfall with me sitting on his lap, and Morrowind was my first TES game, I was 8 years old. At first to be honest I didn't liked it, but my father eventually taught me how to play it properly and I felt in love with it. As I grew up, I played all the TES games, now I'm enjoying Elder Scrolls Online 😁 Sometimes I come back to this soundtrack and yes... I can't even describe the amount of nostalgia it sparkles. It's unbelievable.

Stepping out of Seyda Neen, a whole world out there for you to explore, this theme swelling for you to set out on your quest... and then the mood is broken when you hear a scream and an expensively dressed Bosmer plumets out of the sky and pancakes into the swamp.
I still love this music because it never succumbed to the need to be "epic". It has a slow buildup that gives it a feeling of mystery and a climax that promises something great to come instead of simply blaring something loud and heavy at you. And hell even the heartbeat like drums play into the plot in the end.
DPHGSSBWXYORAS 1911 Back then Bethesda wasn’t this well known Game developer like today. Because of that the game was published by Ubisoft. It was a huge success, and Bethesda published their games on their own later on.
Morrowind was such a success that Bethesda become a giant game developer. Morrowind becoming arguably the greatest RPG of all time put Bethesda into legendary status and made them the sole ones in charge. No need for Ubisoft anymore.

+Top Kek Same for me... I know that if i play it again, it won't be the same. I rather like to keep my child memories of this game, because they are so beautiful.
+Top Kek Only three games give me this level of nostalgia. Morrowind, Mass Effect 1, and RunScape ala 2006-2009. Thinking about any of these gets me far more emotional than any other game can.
Morrowind was a game so influential to the series that it shot the series into mainstream popularity and it’s theme basically became the theme of the entire series
When I was a kid I played Morrowind... When I was a teen I played Oblivion... 4 years ago I played Skyrim... Now on these days Morrowind will be the best RPG game EVER!!!! For it's time... And for all time. The Elder Scrolls is the best of all the franchise of RPG games!!!!
+Radionatix fuck this shit! I'm going in! The Elder Scrolls serie is not the best one, there are plenty of RPGs better than any of the TES. Sure, they are good, but here are exemples of better games: Baldur's Gate Vampire the Mascarade Bloodlines. Mount&Blade Warband Arcanum of Steamworks and magick Obscura Planescape Torment The Witcher 3 Fallout
This theme fits for a peaceful adventure. Oblivion's theme fits for the beginning of a fantasy-adventure story. Skyrim - Song of the Dragonborn fits for an epic battle.
The changes they make to the theme also reflect the cultural differences between the provinces the theme is made for. Morrowind is more whimsical and mysterious compared to Oblivion’s and Skyrim’s; the Dunmer are more reclusive and foreign compared to the Imperials (Roman) and the Nords (Scandinavian).
I do love how each version of this song perfectly conveys the spirit of the game its with. Morrowind is embodying exploration and discovery of things ancient. Oblivion is like an imperial march or parade, full of boastful power and glory. FInally we have Skyrim which is telling of the coming of a warrior of lore who will face epic threats.
Where it all began musically speaking. This is undoubtedly the anthem of TES. I wouldn't be surprised if TES6 has another incarnation of Morrowind's theme song.
This reminds me of playing Morrowind as a 10y/o with my grandad! Time has soon flown by. Now I play Fallout 4 and my grandad plays Morrowind Online... some things never change :))
the problem i have with morrowind is not the fast travel, thats fine. It's that there is no quest log and markers. Markers aren't even a big deal i wish i just had something telling me what to do
*listens to Skyrim theme song* "this is pretty epic!" *listens to this* "...ES3 players, forgive me, for I have been introduced to gaming too late and am now not in possession of this legendary game..."
@@dornek01 Morrowind, oblivion and skyrim all have very similar if not the same melodies. Performance is simply different. But yeah. Only this theme gives me the adventurers call to the road . . . Others dont.
@@lordjzargo7940 I must've lived under my trusty rock during that time. Whoops. Also, this comment is like 3 years old and I'm already cringing at it XD
This theme always captured the grandness and wonder that The Elder Scrolls series is really about. The Skyrim and Oblivion themes sound too militant. This one captures the feeling that you've just walked out into the sun and seen the world for the first time.
I agree. It also has the touch of sadness that I find underlies the whole Elder Scrolls storyline: living in a silver age, a diminished and diminishing world.
I think each theme shows its own cultural. Oblivion's theme shows the strength and glory of the empire. Skyrim's theme shows the Nordic's cultural theme. While Morrowind takes place in an island, and the home of the Dummer/Dark Elves/Less violent than Men. Morrowind's theme is peaceful because of the story line: reunite the Dummer. Oblivion takes place in the heart of the empire. which is why it sounds militant. And Skyrim, a dark place with its own dark event: Civil War and The Return of the Dragons.
Parthurnaax Alduin Less violent than men ? The storyline is a bit less violent, and much more based on adventuring, as you are not set on some epic quest right on. But hell, Dumner are sicko. You don't remember that bar in Balmora, do you ?
Parthurnaax Alduin "Morrowind's theme is peaceful because of the story line: reunite the Dummer." It's part of what I miss in the later games and main themes, along with its mystery, beauty and sheer emotion. It's not fast or bold but it retains epic without having to shout in draconic or break out the brass section. Oblivion's theme is bold and grand at the start before it starts repeating the same refrain up and down several times (grand old quest to "relight the dragon fires" by going into the plane of Oblivion more times than necessary). Skyrim's is strong and very Wagnerian but bogs itself down in its own importance (the "civil war" is polarising but trapped in generics; Alduin's return is dire but also a bluntly Whovian - he was merely "put off" for a thousand years).
Guard sees you running around naked. Guard: "Oh, you're naked, spare me" " Oh, I haven't seen one of those in a while" " Someone with your good looks needs more clothing". To this day, those kind of reactions are why I love Morrowind so much.
Now don't get me wrong. I like the later Elder Scrolls versions of the theme and over all the music of the series got better all around over time. But... Morrowind's version of the theme is just better.
It was 15 years ago. I was looking to buy some RTS games when the game shop's attendance recommend this game to me. I was skeptical at first. But I was hooked almost immediately after I started playing. I barely eat, I barely sleep, I even barely relieve myself.
The 3 variations on the main theme reflect each game in a nutshell. Morrowind gives you the feeling of a grand adventure in an unfamiliar land. Oblivion is the tale of the war that is to come and the fall of the septim empire. Skyrim is about the struggle to overcome a legendary force of nature.
This song brings me so much peace , a cool summer evening in the living room watching my older brother play this game when it was all we had at the time ,
Takes me way back... Way back, my friends. It's like an epic journey to the very core of the epicness itself. Makes the skin crawl and the cheeks blush... Makes a man wanting not just to play the game, but to LIVE it... Ahh...
You finally did it, you completed your quest and killed every evil that dungeon has, now you looking at your reward recourses, thinking about your next move, opening your journal to see what else is interesting to go to, getting out of that dungeon and man it's like you have been forever since you last saw the sun, walking to the path of an old joy village to set up your things, you know that this is only a warrior break before another big adventure that you cannot wait to begin again
I just realised, after years of listening to this theme almost obsessively that the really heavy drum you especially hear during the start and end as well as throughout represents the beating of the Heart of Lorkhan, also often refered to as "the doom-drum" probably just me being a dumbass to not realise it sooner but it's amazing that there are still secrets hidden in plain sight.
I've played The Elder Scroll games since Daggerfall and this is still my favourite. Would love to start a new file again but these days I just don't have as much free time as I use to :(
I have 2 copies of the old folio big box Daggerfall. Also have Redguard and Battlespire but they really aren't very good. Neither is Daggerfall, honestly, it gets a lot of people that haven't actually played it talking about it because it's so big, but it's really not that good as a game. It's buggy, even as Bethesda games go (think about that for a moment), the UI is terrible, and its massive world is flat, empty and 99% uninteresting. Thousands of NPC villagers walking around that don't actually have anything important or meaningful to say. There's very little of important choices to make throughout the game. But Morrowind is something special. It was the last game Bethesda made before they started dumbing down and "streamlining" for a wider audience - in other words, selling out.
Little did we know that this song was the Recall spell and would take us back to a place that was, at times, more home than home... a place that had encumbrance but no burdens; a place that set us into the winds of tomorrow.
Oh,the memories i have with Morrowind......This was truly the best Elder Scrolls to date.I really enjoyed everything about it.Especially experimenting with potions.I remember once i made a potion and it made me blind.I was walking around crashing into walls like a fool and then i died like an idiot.:))))You could have any kind of crazy experience with this game. This is the open world experience i sought for a long time.....
You really sure about that? I was told that it's crap compared to Skyrim And Oblivion, but I doubt that.First of all it's a TES game.If it sucks then tell Bethesda to take over ESO because I'm still in the youth of my Elder Scrolls gaming history, and I want to play Morrowind. Also I'm going to take down a Skyrim Roblox video I just finished making 2 days ago for those of you that are still uncertain about if you should buy Skyrim. Yes, I'll forget about posting a 3 part review just because Morrowind was a fail in my eyes. I admit Skyrim's theme isn't as relaxing as Morrowind's because of it being the same thing except with deeper instrumentals and a Viking Chorus. Skyrim's theme is oh god, I can't think of the exact words, uhhh darn it it's there somewhere, oh yeah pathetic compared to Morrowind's layed back sound. I have high expectations for all TES games I have yet to play [Except the spin-offs because they don't have as much of a intresting sounding story as the main series and ESO does]
Ben Wiseman Morrowind has aged for sure, but it was the superior product for its time. Even mods don't make it justice if you place it side by side with Skyrim. Morrowind's lore was more complex, more interesting, more nuanced, deeper and at the same time actually managed to be more epic than dragons (believe it or not). Not from the start of course, but as you progressed towards the end of the game, you uncovered a tale of truly epic proportion that has yet to be rivaled by most games. Who you are as a character in Morrowind is more interesting than being a Dragonborn (although being a Dragonborn is quite interesting and epic to begin with). Oblivion and Skyrim did not come close to the cultural uniqueness and variety Morrowind had. From North to South to East to West, every geographical region was astonishingly different and had pure originality. Skyrim was still better than Oblivion on that front, which pretty much felt homogeneous from North to South with very few personality and culture imprint to cities. The political strives were far more complex, detailed and rich in Morrowind than in Skyrim. In Skyrim you pretty much have the Imperial vs the rebels vs the Thalmor vs the Dragon apocalypse. In Morrowind you had the Dunmer great houses Hllaalu, Redoran, Telvanni (3 major ones all battling each others with VERY distinctive culture), you had the Imperial Cult conflicting against the Tribunal who were also both fighting against Daedra cults and the 6th Great House of Dagoth Ur and also the outgoing hunt against Necromancers. I'm talking about actual gameplay-involved conflicts, with dozens of quests for each conflicts, not just book and 1-2 quest talking about it. Also the lost civilization of the Dwemer was more fleshed out than any lost civilization were in Oblivion (Ayleids) or Skyrim (Falmer) (although Dawnguard fleshed it out a bit more in very interesting ways). There also was a lot of questing involved with the slavery of Khajiit and Argonians which were outstanding, on top of the frequent encounters with slave in random mines and dungeons. The expansions were stellar as well, especially if you consider that the Skyrim expansion brings you to the exact same Island as the Bloodmoon Morrowind expansion, since it was so beloved by fans. The only sad thing about Morrowind, is that Skyrim/Oblivion made some convenience improvements in gameplay that makes it hard to go back to Morrowind, especially with the very aged graphics. Other than that, time for time, Morrowind was a stellar innovation and an unparalleled discovery adventure of totally foreign, complex and unique cultures, while Skyrim was merely a great game. As far as music goes, I can't argue with that. Music is as beautiful as the experience you live hearing it. Since for me Morrowind was and will remain the greatest experience, its music will always be the most beautiful to me. But I can't deny that someone who hasn't played Morrowind will prefer music from a game he actually thoroughly loved.
This music was really hooked on me but since TES 3 was my first TES game I got full potential much later when I absorbed the game in more detail. It still amazes me how they created such detailed culture, a complete new culture of never existing people (in real life that is) that brought so much to the immersion. Then when I listen to this music again, it really has this feel as if music says "Come to this magical place and (at 1:08) absorb the full magic of this imaginary detailed world". TES 4 and 5 were good games but as if the magic is going away with each sequel made. It makes me sad... Let me listen to this music once again.
I didn’t grow up with this game, I grew up with oblivion, but when I didn’t own a computer, this game is what encouraged me to save up, and I would listen to this song as a reminder of why I needed to be patient. This song is an instant dopamine hit, but not as big as when I first heard those words… “Stand up. There you go. You were dreaming. What’s your name?”
MegaHamster But this is much, much better than the Skyrim music. Skyrim is a rehash of this, only as a generic try-hard epic sounding nonsense, while the Morrowind music is just... magical.
It really saddens me to see having lost that time....every second of this theme is just pure nostalgia....playing it at my parent's house....this game...ohh god!

I did grew up with this franchise. My father used to play Daggerfall with me sitting on his lap, and Morrowind was my first TES game, I was 8 years old. At first to be honest I didn't liked it, but my father eventually taught me how to play it properly and I felt in love with it. As I grew up, I played all the TES games, now I'm enjoying Elder Scrolls Online 😁
Sometimes I come back to this soundtrack and yes... I can't even describe the amount of nostalgia it sparkles. It's unbelievable.

I am Nerevarine Moon-And-Star, on my peaceful quest to slaughter all wildlife on Vvardenfell.

Parthurnaax Alduin
Less violent than men ? The storyline is a bit less violent, and much more based on adventuring, as you are not set on some epic quest right on. But hell, Dumner are sicko. You don't remember that bar in Balmora, do you ?
Parthurnaax Alduin "Morrowind's theme is peaceful because of the story line: reunite the Dummer."
It's part of what I miss in the later games and main themes, along with its mystery, beauty and sheer emotion.

Морровинд легендарный игра Я даже играл в арену ех било время:)
The best above all The Elder Scrolls games.
Still holds up after all this time. One of the best games of my younger years
It was 15 years ago. I was looking to buy some RTS games when the game shop's attendance recommend this game to me. I was skeptical at first. But I was hooked almost immediately after I started playing. I barely eat, I barely sleep, I even barely relieve myself.
True Elder Scrolls Chads knew immediately that Skyrim's main theme sounded strangely familiar from playing this game.
I personally think that the The Elder Scrolls' games have fantastic themes.
Born too late to explore earth, born too early to explore the galaxy, but born right on time to explore Vvardenfell

Who wouldn't have a fantasy movie about Elder scroll world with this epic music and scenography like lord of the ring?
I have high expectations for all TES games I have yet to play [Except the spin-offs because they don't have as much of a intresting sounding story as the main series and ESO does]
Ben Wiseman
i have no idea what you just said there......
Jk Shadow it still works with xbox 360
I didn’t grow up with this game, I grew up with oblivion, but when I didn’t own a computer, this game is what encouraged me to save up, and I would listen to this song as a reminder of why I needed to be patient. This song is an instant dopamine hit, but not as big as when I first heard those words…
“Stand up. There you go. You were dreaming. What’s your name?”
@@fudgepacker2858 lol I knew, I wanted a computer, this game stood as proper motivation. Also I hear it’s a little watered down on console
Happy 20th Anniversary to Morrowind
Every time this song comes on I shed a tear
Best music. Ever. Period.
if u like this music the you gotta hear the dragonborn song in skyrim
i consider them all the same thing, eve seeing some difference,i don't pick between morrowind and skyrim (i do not like oblivion that much,on any part)
MegaHamster But is The same music
MegaHamster But this is much, much better than the Skyrim music. Skyrim is a rehash of this, only as a generic try-hard epic sounding nonsense, while the Morrowind music is just... magical.
It really saddens me to see having lost that time....every second of this theme is just pure nostalgia....playing it at my parent's house....this game...ohh god!
без преувеличения,нетленый шедевр.
