Thank you for your first impressions of the Modretro Chromatic. I got to hold it at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo last month, and it feels premium in the hand and the buttons feel perfect. When I drove home I ordered 1 for myself. I think you should definitely pick one up. I found out that the grey color one is exclusive to GameStop. I told my older brother about this thing and he picked up one for his daughter for Christmas and one for himself. 😊
Truuuuuuee, thats wild, I have no idea how I missed out on that! I would have loved to have that game on there. I kinda feel like it was the cover art that threw people off of what it was. Or I'm just dumb haha either way I wanna pick that up. Cheers
I already have mine pre ordered! I pre ordered the GameStop exclusive color! In the US it is only $199 and honestly i think well well worth it due to the materials used to make it! I am so excited for it!
its great for people who aren't nerdy enough to mess with a lot of settings to play with emulation. but there's a point, people who will play with old cartridges are less compared to those who dont. only people who were from that era and those who are crazy enough to collect retro cartridges on higher prices. and i heard somewhere that cartridges have a life because they have a battery inside them
For anyone who wants a GOOD alternative thats not worth the price of a new gen console. Buy MAZE HANDHELD, comes with preloaded games like sega, nintendo, gameboy, nintendo ds. AND ITS ONLY 30$$$
Honest Opinion. Trash product. These have been out for years and WAY cheaper at that. The games on this one look like cheap knock off's. At almost $300, this product is a joke to be released in 2024. Also each game costing $50 is also a joke when theyre cheap knock off of originals . I guarantee you they sell less than 100. This is also 100% emulation. Also cant run official cartridge games on fake/aftermarket hardware so its emulation. This is probably something like a raspberry pi custom fitted into that casing. cheap not worth it.
The Chromatic is a premium product and is intended to be the ultimate way to play GB and GBC games. Not only does it play official cartridges, it plays them better than they ever have been before. For $199, a brand new GBC with a sapphire crystal lens, magnesium alloy shell, premium buttons and with a brand new version of Tetris thrown in is an absolute steal in 2024.
@@danc3933 buy a modded Original Gameboy with updated oled screen, rechargeable battery, and memory slot with roms for a fraction of the price. Nostalgia AND upgraded to modern. For less.

Its small, smaller screen than an original gameboy. nothing else that they offer for $200-$300 is garbage. waste of money, only people buying this are youtubers, content creators, and about 30 other people. Its an overpriced emulator. Cheaper to buy a Nintendo Switch or Custom Modded GBA/C.
@@erokips there are no 'custom oled gbc screens' on the planet. They all are high resolution that can never match the pixel quality of chromatic's screen. You just havent seen the side by side photos yet. 😎

Porta Pros are great actually. Koss makes really good cheap headphones. Better than any gaming headsets for sure.
