    You know a documentary's going to be good when it feels like a Christopher Guest film.

    Perhaps none of this would've happened if he'd just been born with a different last name. Something nice, like Anthony Schlong. Pretty bullet-proof if you ask me.

  • @A_massive_wog
    @A_massive_wog 8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    His down fall is kinda sad, because out of all the politicians in the US, he was actually extremely principled, fought against the status quo. He fought for things like the Public Option during the Healthcare debate era, vigorously long after Obama dropped it.

      ***** And?

    • @A_massive_wog
      @A_massive_wog 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** I'm talking his actions as a politician. Nothing else. Obama is a better person then Weiner, but he's incredibly unprincipled.

    • @34thstreetman
      @34thstreetman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The thing that people don't get is that all of these politicians have skeletons. It is the ones who challenge the status quo or who are a threat to the establishment that hammered. The press is owned by wealthy corporations who have to answer to their bosses. Weiner just like Spitzer ( who was going to go after Wall st before the 2008 meltdown) was someone who the system didn't like.

    • @pipemartz
      @pipemartz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He is right, there is a difference between being a role model and having political principles. Weiner stood by his political principles, but I would never want any of my hypothetical children to look up to him.

    I'm honestly interested to see this. I mean for a politician to make a documentary and re-open his scandal is genuinely fascinating so I'm down for this.

    • @PeanutsAssorted
      @PeanutsAssorted 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MrBrenman21 the movie seems to be about Weiner trying to get a career back after a scandal (A stupid scandal BTW... seriously, he sent a dick pick, big deal), and judging by the trailer it's not going to hold back. You're entitled to your opinion, though honestly I'm not sure how what you said in any way links to my original post.

    • @PeanutsAssorted
      @PeanutsAssorted 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrBrenman21 Shitty politician seems redundant honestly, I mean aren't they all pretty shitty. Yeah he should've known, he didn't, but all he did was send nudes... if there was an actual legal issue I'd get it, but it was pictures. He's not the one making money off this. He's the subject of it sure, but he's not a producer, to my knowledge he'll make no money. At BEST he might have gotten paid for his time, but even that's doubtful. It's like saying Robert Durst made money from The Jinx, sure he's in it but that doesn't mean he's making money from it, documentaries don't tend to pay the subjects of their films.

    Here's a guy who has never been anything but a politician. His degree is in political science. His first job was on a senator's staff. He was the youngest city councilman in New York City history. How does this guy not know that there are types of scandals that could end the only career he has ever had? If you don't have a law career or a business career to fall back on, how do you even think about messing around with a sex scandal? Especially with a name like that.

    This was a film that evoked a SMH the more I watched it. What's really sad is that Weiner has a real passion/energy for politics, is smart, and has a way of connecting with people. I think those are the qualities that drew his wife Huma and made him such a rising star in the democratic party. I'm always fascinated by how really smart people do really dumb things. And as we've seen many times before technology allows smart people to do some really dumb things. Weiner is clearly in love with his phone and all the things it can do as the film illustrates. Sadly in Weiner's case he obviously has some deeper issues and I'm glad I saw this movie because it really gives a fuller picture of this man and his story. His smugness was a bit much and you could tell his wife was visibly confounded by his behavior. I think his wife should've just purchased a phone without a camera feature for him to use.

      The Death Tax is unconstitutional. So by definition it is un-American.

    • @nygiantsfan6
      @nygiantsfan6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congress has the power to levy taxes. Explain exactly what makes it unconstitutional. You think we should be an oligarchy like Russia? If you're all about strict definitions, then why don't you look to stare decisis? There is literally nowhere in the jurisprudence from which you can launch your basis for any kind of complaint.

    • @EGarrett01
      @EGarrett01 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      nygiantsfan6
      "The Federal estate tax is patently unconstitutional when applied within the fifty states because that constitutes a direct tax that is not apportioned to the states for collection as required by the Constitution under Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of that document, and this tax cannot be otherwise sustained as a legitimate exercise of the federally granted power to tax indirectly by impost, duty or excise under Article I, Section 8, Clause 1.
      The federal government has absolutely no constitutional authority what-so-ever to tax the American People simply because we die, nor does it possess the legitimate power to tax the estates of the citizens of the fifty states at death under the pretense of excise taxation. And believe it or not, that is the admitted basis and supposed legal justification for the federal estate tax."

    • @nygiantsfan6
      @nygiantsfan6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice job copying and pasting from a Tea Party website instead of, ya know, actually providing an adequate answer. There's no reason to bring up Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 other than that some guy in his basement has decided that the estate tax is a violation of it. There is currently no exact definition of what the estate tax is, but it doesn't need one. Most would say it is a duty or excise while others would say it can be classified as income and is taxable per the Sixteenth amendment. Again, if you really are some kind of constitutional absolutist and want a definitive answer, then the best way to try and get one is by looking to stare decisis, but there is no legal precedent for any of the claims you make. Maybe one day you'll take your case up to the Supreme Court, and the matter will be settled, but, until then, I suggest you stop peddling your baseless historical narrative.
