Eddie is a Legend in his own Right. He defines the Motörhead Sound. Not only Lemmy, Lemmy, Lemmy.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Eddie on one of the last things he recorded before his passing. He contributed a guitar solo to the Warfare song Misanthropy which appeared on the 2017 album “Evo - Warfare” which I also performed on and worked on the pre-production and engineering alongside Evo and ex Tygers of Pan Tang guitarist Fred Purser. I never met him in person, but spoke to him on the phone a couple of times and he was just a lovely guy and a great player. What a loss it was to rock and heavy metal when we lost him. Thanks for the honest review Phil.

Limited time price deal on Amazon UK today £53 and as I had a £10 Amazon voucher to use making it £43 was a no brainer purchase for me.

*61,99 Euro* here in Germany.... ( I did check the prize Phil mentioned, 57 Pound would equal 68,42 €) but 62 € in my opinion is way too much I would be willing to pay....so I am waiting for the book for around 20€ to get that since I have most of the tracks)

Just watched classic albums : Ace of Spades from about 1998. very poignant watch with lemmy, eddie and phil talking about the album. As you said Phil, sadly all gone now. The album really showcased how great a guitarist Eddie was.

Totally agree with what you said on the negative side of what looks and sound a like a great tribute to Eddie. & yes wiill hopefully get the book released as a standalone at some stage, Have a lot of unreleased tracks required over the years, & the original Muggers cd. So as much as a Motorhead afficenardo I am, may pass, but if it goes done in price may change mind. Another brilliant review Pete, &. as said before Keep 'em coming.

Hi Phil - I am not into Motorhead or Fastway etc , but what I did like was the honesty of the review. OK - we're all in it for a positive, great review but I want to hear not only the positives, but the negatives if there are any. I just want an honest balanced review, and I felt you achieved that without being negative - quite the opposite in fact !! That way people have a better idea of what you are getting for your money, and they can then make their minds up on whether to buy or not. Cheers Doug

First gig I ever went to , Motörhead on ace of spades tour at Deeside’s leisure centre north wales 1980 , I’d just turned 18 ,. They were supported by girlschool. We pushed our way to the front and it was a wall of sound , couldn’t really make out some of the songs but was a great first gig

Hi Phil, a fair and honest review I’d be interested in reading the book tbh never heard any of he’s earlier stuff only Motörhead not sure I’d want to purchase this on the strength of that and the price but hopefully it will come down in price, an excellent guitarist sadly missed.

Great review that, very cool box set. But because of the price I will wait for the book to be released separately. 👍

1979 Newcastle City Hall ( UK ) Overkill "All About Being Loud" tour ( Girlschool support ) . Also in 1979 Reading Festival . Then 1981 Port Vale FC - Heavy Metal Holocaust ( with Ozzy / Mahogany Rush and Vardis ) . All terrific performances . Love all of the Motorhead albums and singles with Eddie and Phil on board ... I think you're probably right about the price ( seems a bit steep although no doubt a great package ) .

I saw Lemmy playing slot machine in the pub near City Hall before the gig. Later I saw him being given some close attention by a groupie. My word.

I've been waffling on this one. I'd love the book, but musically it's rather bare. Admittedly, I don't have either Eat Dog Eat or his last solo album. If I did, though, it would leave a whopping 4 songs that I'm interested in (I managed to get a cd of Curtis Knight Zeus last year) - the 2 Continuous Performance tracks and the Pete Way demos.
If I had my druthers, I would've liked to have some full live Fastway shows (cd, dvd, or blu ray). Or a dvd of the music videos. Heck, even the Fast & Philphy ep. Most of the set as is, is fairly easy to acquire.

It does look great, but you are right about the price. This is not the only overpriced box set I've seen lately. Take care!

Looks good, but I wouldn't pay anymore than £45 for that. And as you say, we have most of those tracks anyway.

Like the look of this but yes Phil the price is very offputting. Should certainly be less than the Carl Palmer set.

I agree that it's a bit pricey. I also don't understand why this is only available in CD format. I would have purchased immediately if a vinyl version was available. I am not a fan of CDs so I'm not sure that I will purchase this. The same thing happened with the Blue Oyster Cult Columbia years box set, CD format only and I don't understand why that is. It's my understanding that vinyl LPs have recently surpassed CD sales so why not provide both formats.

I think this is NOT the way to go, I think the book should be hardback, and containing information more like a "coffetable-book", you know, like pictures of tape-boxes, tickets, facts about recording and stuff.
And then individual sleeves is nice.
Like the Black Sabbath-boxes, especially Vol.4 and Technical ecstasy is great!
Great video and thanks for the information which helps me to choose if I should get a box or not get a box. In my opinion I think you are the best on TH-cam on this, unboxing and information, don't change. Cheers!

£75 for that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced, that won't be heading my way any time soon.
Rory Gallagher at the BBC - 18 CDs & 2 blurays, £130.00. no need to say anything else.
