    Best way to prevent being tracked online: unplug your internet connection, and don't use the internet.

    I decided to cover Tor, Freenet, etc in another video...this video would have been an hour long if I covered all the areas I was wanting to. By the way, I wouldn't put so much trust in Tor...it's got a MAJOR security flaw. FreeNet is a better option.

  • @Tinkernut
    @Tinkernut  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you purchase a host and a domain, that means the host server belongs to the person you purchased it from. You're on the right track, but instead you'd want to host your own mail server on your own computer.

    Dont forget that most ISP's (my own do this) scan your local network to see what devices you have connected. Why they do this unless they can see the different brands are avaiding me. What i did to prevent this was replacing their modem / router with a Cisco Catalyst device. And blocking connections made from the world and in unless otherwise specified. This also give good opertunity to create VPN tunnels and send specific date to a specific tunnel. Or game traffic around the VPN. Kind reegards.

    I know this is a really old video but I'm surprised that nobody even mentions Peerblock in the comments. It's free to start. And will never cost you anything. But the free version only allows for updates once per week. The $9.00 a year is well worth it for all the blocked IPs in the list. And trust me...even if your not doing anything on your computer at the moment you would be amazed at how many server requests and IP addresses pop up just sitting idle that get blocked. I have been using Peerblock ever since PeerGuardian was it's predecessor. I believe in 2003 was when I first started using PeerGuardian. And then they switched formats and went with Peerblock instead. Anyways, to sum it all up, you guys really should check it out.I currently have 89 lists in my configurations and blocking 3.8 Billion IP Addresses. And yes I have seen some serious IP addresses come across that box.
    Anyhoo...Good video, Thumbs Up from me.

    Also private-browsing mode, which doesn't accept any cookies or log history that can track you. This can cause the we-sites to break, since web-sites are more/less designed to work best when tracking. I use no-script in firefox instead of ghostery BTW. It has more power features, and you can allow/deny a script based on the web-site that the script says it is from.

    ScriptSafe is also a good extension, blocks all scripts, removes any tags like noscript , webbug etc. Disallows all sites (by default) from executing scripts. Also blocks pages that have tracking cookies or anything else that tracks you, Its defiantly a extension to install.

    I am very scared because on my Windows 7 computer it says that my computer is being tracked. It says that people might be using it to make a account of me for something, so now I am scared that people are watching me, and coming after me. And now I am scared that it is in everything that I use us being watched, even though I have virus protection on everything I use. I am too scared to use my Windows 7.

    Very informative. I wonder though how "secure" some tricks like a VPN are, since behind those things there are, again, companies who know a lot about you and can sell your data on. Basically, if you don't want your personal data to be disseminated over the internet, don't put it there in the first place.... anything you put on the net, will stay there for ever

    I've been trying out TOR as a free worldwide vpn. As I understand it, I am vpn'ing to another computer somewhere in the world, and appear to be connected to the internet at that location.
    Interesting to see what language the Google homepage defaults to according to where I end up jumping out to the internet.
    I am concerned, however, because TOR is voluntary, I don't have any control over who sees my traffic at the other end of this vpn.

    Great video some great ways to TRY and prevent you data being accessed but i think you need to add something, all of the ways you have mentioned will HELP to keep your information private but it wont completely stop it. A VPN creates a tunnel between you and the site your accessing but if the government wants it all they do is go to the site your accessing and force them to give the details about what you did on their site, either that or the vpn provider can now do what the isp could do, track all your data as they see fit. Some great ideas and some stuff i didn't know like about using the settings in chome for not allowing sites to track but i think you should mabe viewers aware that if someone has enough power in the gov or enough skills as a hacker they can still get your information. There's always sum way to block things but there also always a way to get past it.
