Bought the X01 new yesterday. The jump from NX was incredible. The shifting is so much tighter and more precise. Going to mount the nx on my commuter/gravel bike and use the x01 on my expedition build. The mounting bolt is something Sram really needs to revise for the next generation of NX and GX derailleur.
Hola Diego estoy en la misma situación que tú, tengo un nx que ha ido muy bien durante dos años peor ahora no hay forma de conseguir regularlo. Realmente se nota el cambio? Gracias y un saludo
@RollinRat I use TRP Mechanical brakes... SRAM eagle drivetrains are exceptional. You have your biases that have developed over the years. Shimano is excellent too mate.
Been using my gx eagle for so long now I bought it since it was released been through many crashes that even hit my rear mech but so far it hasn't bent nor twist but has plenty of scratches though.
the lower jockey wheel was updated on more recent gx mechs to combat the chain falling off of it and getting stuck - it's the same as the x01 in this video now just got a new bike with a GX mech
Yes i have a gx on my hightower my19 and lower pulley is same as X01 on video. I think that shifting quality is better with X01 cassette. I replace my gx cassette by X01 and install X01 chaîn. That's more précise, fastest and less noise when I shift.
Had constant shifting slop on my Whyte G-170 because of the oem GX mech, went nuts with my store loyalty points and put an XX1 on it, the difference was incredible. 👌🏻
Never is too late to destroy a go rear derailleur, last weekend it happened to me, but the complete gx stuck into the wheel spokes, broke one but had to remplace the derailleur, the curious thing is that i don’t find any signs of hit from a rock o something, so watching your vid, may the spoke was the faulty piece? Anyway, the credit card save me, at least for this month 😅
Having gone from GX to XX1 last week...HUGE difference in shifting feel and shifting under power. Wish I had moved up far sooner. I also got the shifter and XX1 cogset as well, so, more than just the rear der.
LoveMTB Can’t say for Shifty only because I made several upgrades to my GX. I have replaced shifter with x01, GX cassette with Garbaruk 10-48 and GX derailleur cage with Garabaruk cage, cable with SRAM SlickWire Pro and of course Shifty pulley. I am very happy with shifting performance, and don’t want to upgrade to X01 eagle anymore.
LoveMTB Actually, I saved plenty. I got 11 speed X01 shifter at discounted price, Garabaruk cassette is more in line with XX quality wise, also it costs much less here in Ukraine, only $200.
LoveMTB You’re welcome and thanks for your videos, always very helpful. I’m still considering upgrading GX derailleur to X01 but not sure it it will improve shifting performance further with all upgrades applied.
Great Video LoveMTB. Quick question for you. I have a 26 x 4.8 fat bike with NX SRAM components. Drivetrain is 1 x 11. SRAM RD NX 11SPD LONG CAGE derailleur KMC X11SL chain SRAM PG-1130 11-42T Casette SRAM NX 11SP Shifter My shifter just broke. I am not sure if I can fix it. So I am looking to buy a new shifter to begin with. I am looking at the GX or the X01. Will I have any issues with the other components or would you suggest any additional changes? I think all the components are interchangeable. I wanted to have some spares just in case and I was going to start with the derailleur. Also, do you think that an SRAM chain should be installed at some point? I was think to start with the X01 shifter and X01 derailleur By the way, Is the 1 x 12 even worth it? Thanks in advance for your help.
Especially considering how substantial that price difference on whole drive train. I would pay 100-150 more for XO but more then twice is not justified.
You were lucky! My Eagle GX was sloppy, and never quite changed perfectly. SRAM swapped it under warranty, but the replacement was nearly as bad. My LBS reports many GX and NX are the same, though some are good. Anyway, the supplier gave me a generous credit for the GX, and now I have an x01, not sloppy at all.
@@angusajm5545 Yeah I hadn't ridden in years but got a new Norco Range and the GX drivetrain is crap compared to the X9 or whatever I had 4 years earlier... It used to be so smooth. Did you try the X01?
@@LoveMTB I have the old GX too except X01 crank. Not as refined as Shimano XTR (9000 11 speed) by a long shot. Did you get around to trying the new RD or the new X01/XX1 (10/52) derailleur yet? I would appreciate your opinion.
That’s the pre-2020 GX isn’t it? The new GX is the lunar colorway. I have the GX lunar and I like it. Would really love to feel the difference between all the Eagle components.
I have owned the GX for 6 months now from new and mine is totally ruined. The clutch is broken and does not function as a clutch at all, every pivot on the body has play leading to poor shifting and overall the build quality is not that great. Riding in the UK during winter these components do get a substantial amount of abuse but they should last much longer than 6 months. I have upgraded to the x01 and hopefully will last longer than 6 months. after riding both I noticed a huge difference in shifting feel and the plasticky feel of the GX is really noticeable when you are shifting to high range gears quickly as you can almost feel the derailleur flex. Sram have said they will replace my GX under warranty so god forbid I rip the x01 off then I have a temporary back up.
I see there isn’t a big price difference between the XX1 and X01 rear derailleur. If I’m going to use a GX shifter and cassette is it worth the extra $30 -$40 for the XX1 cassette?
Help! I have a new SANTA CRUZ 5010 CC with Fox Factory 34 forks and Factory DPX2 shock, as well as carbon bars and carbon wheels, BUT the original owner put a full 12-speed SRAM GX groupset on it. I sure do enjoy my short cage rear mech. Cant count how many of these long cage mechs that people reported damaging. It doesn't surprise me why the industry pushes 29er so hard. Slap an eagle on a 27.5 wheel and its very close to the ground.
I have recently been pretty bumed. I put my bikes of for sale and planning to add my gear to a garage sale. All my buddies stopped riding and i just do t have anyone to ride with any more. I started hitting the gym 5 days a week and im just not stoked anymore. I started a new job and work from home so i dont see my wrk buddies any more. Im about to move to plano tx and there is literally nothing there to ride. I have checked all the trails o. Singletrack and from what i can tell they all look more like horse paths than mtb trails. I will be in tx for prob 2 years and i think i should just get out of the entire thing. Maybe circle back in a few years idk tx is weird, theres a lot of money there but the trails are pure crap from what i can tell. Idk what to do.
I have GX and XO1 on two bikes (trail and enduro) I notice very little difference but my gx does not have the clutch lock and it's a 2018 MY but my X01 does have a clutch lock. Weight is very similar and hard to tell. Only place where X01 really shines is in the cranks
I love my sram eagles feel and range, however I have come to hate srams reliability. My eagle was only a few months old and the plastic jockey wheels had play on the bearing. Eventually causing issues with dropping the chain, bending the cage and finally the jockey wheel bolt ripped out of the cage in the middle of a race run cause my chain to destroy the derailleur.. Never had issues with my shimano drivetrains. The sooner shimano make there 12speed more affordable the better.
My XX1 dallier wobbles a lot where it bolts on, at first I thought it was loose but I tightened it that much I stripped the bolt and it made no difference.
You have need to understand the terminology you are talking about. Forging is only used on axles of pedals normally it is the forming of metal in the very hot state than machining. Stamped metal is the thin metal being bent by a stamping die. Die cast is when the metal is pushed into a mold of the part shape.
yeah i noticed the ring on nx mechs and then i recieved my derailleur and i was like wtf did sram mess up with my unit but no. i like the ring because it clears all the gunk build up by itself
11g and some fancy graphics.. For 100$ ouch. For that kind of money they should come in to my place and lube those jokey wheels every month for me :D Checked my nx derail. even with full extension doesn't have any play side to side. I feel like this may be more of a placebo. If they are same dimensions, etc. I highly doubt there could be any noticable difference.
@@TxiskeCheesecake same happened to me, 3 months old, bike shop guy said I must have hit it on something, I swear I didn't but who knows what happens on the trails. Anyway still twisted and got it replaced with another gx. Feeling I should of upgraded to x01
Companies tend to put on higher RD just so they can claim to use a higher level spec. than they really do. It has nothing to do with better performance. Did you really notice better performance - I really doubt it. Try a blind test next time.
Hey can someone help me? I was searching on the internet which trasmission is the best between SRAM gx DH and Shimano saint. I know that the second one has 10 Speed but i wanted ti know which one is better by looking at the feel and performance(shift speed, reliability and features)
Comes down to personal preference and usually best to run same OE chain and gears to insure everything works together so consider the +/- of entire system. I like sram xd free-hub with one-piece cassette, thumb shifters, and x01chains last long and sram derailleur cage lock is very convenient for servicing. It's the little things. Shimano 10-speed cassettes with separate cogs would notch old HG freehub and were difficult to swap. I don't know if newer micro-spline is better, but still has separate cogs. This is a real bummer for me but I know guys who don't care.
LoveMTB yes but over time the gx will have worn which over time you will have got used too so a brand new one even a cheaper one would have felt better, I have ridden both brand new and there is no difference at all in shifting performance only a slight weight differenceI. the shifter itself makes far more of a difference
actually yeti does what all bike companies do, better derailer than rest of groupset. that way the new bike buyer thinks he getting something SPECIAL. people are gullible and that is how bike companies see it !!!!!! hey look at my new XT derailer coupled to an ALIVO or DEORE shifter. in actuality it should be the other way around
do they have bushings? have you taken it apart? on some pictures it looks like XX1 Eagle has bushings. on some pictures it looks like there might be metal bushings. www.maciag-offroad.de/sram-schaltwerk-nx-schwarz-11-fach-langer-kaefig-x-horizon-sid79214.html www.maciag-offroad.com/sram-rear-derailleur-xx1-eagle-type-3-0-black-gold-12-speed-long-cage-x-horizon-sid79908.html I have also been up close to a Eagle RD looks like there is something in the linkages. flic.kr/p/26tbYBn here is a good shot of the Eagle RD I found: flic.kr/p/YnhXmu unless it has bushings, so I can replace them and use the Rd for a long time without replacing it after few months it's not worth the money.

Wait, i don't get it. You said the spoke is "twiged" (hope i'm correct). So how come "as a result", your derailleur got twisted too ?
Ahh i see. Too bad.
LoveMTB I’ve just done the same to my x01 mech hence why I’m here.
Given the comparison here. Not worth the cost of upgrade. Maybe the shifter?
What's your opinion on upgrading to XX1 rear mech and shifter?
I saw a lot of negative feedbacks on GX eagle mech on facebook, it seems to be easy to bend/break
I see every derailer have same problem one side hit and it's bent
WoD STALKER GX derailers are super tough. You break one you’d have broken anything else x0 xx including.
Was going to go GX. But I think I'll do this instead.
Very usefull, thank you
dont the x01 shift use bearing and gx use bushing on shifter?
Identical shifters in every way except x01 has an adjustable paddle.
So your derailleur cage gets bent and you replace the whole derailleur? hmmm
got a small stick stuck in hanger wheel, bent derailer. shop cant get it straight so getting an x01
NX eagle has the same lower wheel as the X01,so maybe thats just an older version of the GX and the new ones have the same wheel.
I think so too, my gx has the newer wheel.
The side to side play will be gone with a new derailleur. Put some miles on it. It may come back.
@@LoveMTB there was something wrong with it. Mine never moved like that. My XO eagle or my GX Eagle. Not from day one. They both do now a little bit.
Can anyone give me some input? I just bought a gx rear derailleur. Upgrading from nx. Just wanted to know if theres much difference.
@@LoveMTB my b limit screw bent and I cant get it out. it's stuck in a setting that's acceptable. so for now I think I'll keep using it until it fails but I do have a shiny new gx coming tomorrow. Might be tempting to install it. We'll see how it goes.
Only place where X01 really shines is in the cranks
had 2 xo1 both failed as in a slight knock and the carbon failed, get next down................ all ali
LoveMTB now thats an interesting thought. A video worth making perhaps 🤔
My XX1 dallier wobbles a lot where it bolts on, at first I thought it was loose but I tightened it that much I stripped the bolt and it made no difference.
XX1 for the bling
You have need to understand the terminology you are talking about. Forging is only used on axles of pedals normally it is the forming of metal in the very hot state than machining. Stamped metal is the thin metal being bent by a stamping die. Die cast is when the metal is pushed into a mold of the part shape.
That play isn't normal. I work at a bike shop and have seen a lot of GX drivetrains. Never seen that play before.
hmmm. my gx eagle has the same lower jockey as the xo1 with the ring
yeah i noticed the ring on nx mechs and then i recieved my derailleur and i was like wtf did sram mess up with my unit but no. i like the ring because it clears all the gunk build up by itself
and btw i love your yeti!
Cost difference.
What’s the difference between the SX, NX, GX, X01, and XX1 apart from materials?
LoveMTB I agree, what’s the point in spending $300 for a 12 speed drivetrain?
11g and some fancy graphics.. For 100$ ouch. For that kind of money they should come in to my place and lube those jokey wheels every month for me :D
Checked my nx derail. even with full extension doesn't have any play side to side. I feel like this may be more of a placebo. If they are same dimensions, etc. I highly doubt there could be any noticable difference.
Excelente información. Gracias por los subtítulos.
Sucks that old GX derailleur lasted 5 minutes. Too bad it can’t be repaired.
Shit, the same happened to me. Is it worth the XO1?more durable? Or better buy and bend 2 GX for less price?
Maybe long term use better XO1
Betteridge's law

😢
try it with both a new gx and xo1 and then see if there is a difference, testing it against a worn gx isn't a fair test
LoveMTB yes but over time the gx will have worn which over time you will have got used too so a brand new one even a cheaper one would have felt better, I have ridden both brand new and there is no difference at all in shifting performance only a slight weight differenceI. the shifter itself makes far more of a difference
actually yeti does what all bike companies do, better derailer than rest of groupset. that way the new bike buyer thinks he getting something SPECIAL. people are gullible and that is how bike companies see it !!!!!! hey look at my new XT derailer coupled to an ALIVO or DEORE shifter. in actuality it should be the other way around
do they have bushings? have you taken it apart?
on some pictures it looks like XX1 Eagle has bushings. on some pictures it looks like there might be metal bushings. www.maciag-offroad.de/sram-schaltwerk-nx-schwarz-11-fach-langer-kaefig-x-horizon-sid79214.html
www.maciag-offroad.com/sram-rear-derailleur-xx1-eagle-type-3-0-black-gold-12-speed-long-cage-x-horizon-sid79908.html
I have also been up close to a Eagle RD looks like there is something in the linkages. flic.kr/p/26tbYBn
here is a good shot of the Eagle RD I found: flic.kr/p/YnhXmu
unless it has bushings, so I can replace them and use the Rd for a long time without replacing it after few months it's not worth the money.

Newer gx mechs have the upgrades jockey wheels
Pleased
bike corps be like :
consume , just buy .. when we release new product you just buy trow away your old one

and be sure to buy the next product next month
just buy new product , its the same product you already own just a bid different , never mind the old one could last you over 10 years buy a new one now.
Buy Shimano!!!
no !!!
This guy just seems like a MTB elitist. He spends money on an unnecessary upgrade and tries to tell you that the extra $100+ was worth the nominal change in shifting performance. I have both GX and XO group sets and I will do a video describing why the upgrade isn’t worth it unless you’re counting grams with a side by side performance
So where’s that video ?
