    I have 4 different complete drivetrain of Der, shifter, chain, and cassette.
    1) XX1 Eagle
    2) XX1 11speed
    3) X01 11 speed
    4) GX Eagle
    All are good, and function just fine. None of them are going to make us faster, but if I had to nitpick....
    For me, the GX is not as refined, and has mis-shifts here and there. Even after cleaning up the adjustments (b screw and cable tenision), the GX goes out of whacked occasionally. GX also seems to wear faster.
    XX1 Eagle is butter! very few adjustments needed over the longer haul, and the parts sill looks and functions brand new after about 500 miles. xx1 11-speed and x01 11-speed also quite flawless (both are over 1000 miles now). For me, if I have the money, then I am getting x01 or xx1. However, I have no problems using GX either.

    Great video.
    From my personal experience, rode GX for 3 years and no issues. Upgraded to X01, found a missing tooth on the 52T cog after 8 months. Replaced the cassette, a month later, again, same issue. The aluminum 52t cog does not seem to be able to handle up/down shifts well with the X01 chain. The material is too soft. No issues with other cogs, but they're chromium steel.

    • @LoveMTB
      @LoveMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Big jump to that 52t from 42, why I still use the 10-50 on all our SRAM bikes, no issues whatsoever with GX or X01 cassettes

    • @valmiles
      @valmiles ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LoveMTB: I think that is it, combined with a very soft material on the 52T cog. Unfortunately, SRAM does not warranty cassettes: "cassettes are wear items that are not covered under the SRAM warranty against manufacture defects."

      @@valmiles Hmmm interesting. How do you "feel" that missing tooth?

    • @valmiles
      @valmiles ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LoveMTB Not quite sure when it happened with the first cassette. While cleaning it, noticed the broken tooth. Stopped using the 52t cog until I swapped the cassette. With the second cassette, as I was climbing on a steep trail, saw with horror that my chain came off and got lodged between the 52t cog and the spokes. Freed the chain after some struggle. When I can home and was cleaning the bike, saw that one of the teeth had a crack and was bent. Not fun.

    Another awesome review..... complete with Cassette Cam®. For me, I won't be going to Eagle any time soon simply because of the out-of-sync issue on the two biggest cogs. Once SRAM fixes that - and they will, then I'll pony up my money.

      I upgraded to an xx1 chain and XO1 derailleur. Cassette has little wear so I kept it on. Cassette seems to be okay for now. i remain attached to Shimano 11sp shifters, and the notion (possibly theoretical, i've not owned a SRAM 12sp drivetrain, though i've demo'd) of easier adjustment and maintenance of 11 sp vs 12sp, not to mention cost. when my Shimano 11-46 cassette wears out, which takes a good long time, i'm most interested in the Garbaruk 11-48. if anyone has experience, do chime in.
    good video as usual BTW.

    • @topspot4834
      @topspot4834 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you replacing the whole drivetrain? I know Garbaruk is compatible with SRAM driver, not sure about Shimano though. I looked into it just browsing, and the common them was that is on par with SRAM's 1275 GX cassette, but not as crisp as the X01 and XX1 and it's louder. I think I read that on Pinkbike or MTBR and the comments mostly supported it. The Garbaruk is lighter, but it's main attraction is the aesthetics. Not my cup of tea but looks cool on Instagram.

  • @zyoungson215
    @zyoungson215 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would argue the gx cassette is more resistant to wear because the cogs are made from stamped chromo rather than being machined so will have a better grain structure and be stronger than xo1 ? (un qualified opinion)

    I would like to see a weight break down of these big cassettes. Some of these reach up to 650 grams. Yet claim to be xc oriented. Thatz an awful lot of weight. But then you look at carbon vs alu frames and the diff is about a pound.

    52 tooth gear is the same on all cassettes, GX thru XX1(other than graphics). If you ride and climb allot on the 52 tooth, they wear , sharpen, bend fairly quickly in about a year. Your getting GX quality 52 Tooth gear, no matter what level you pay for..

    • @BradSnakenberg
      @BradSnakenberg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LoveMTB I can't seem to find any other reports of this. Do you really think the 52 tooth gear wears quicker or is more prone to bend versus the 50? I put more than 3K miles on my X01 10-50 but I don't spend a lot of time on the 50. I'm thinking of switching to the 10-52 since I have AXS and an opportunity to swap.

      @@LoveMTB "all things equal" I would prefer the slightly wider range on my Enduro because I definitely use all of the range in the variety of stuff I ride, and anything that keeps me riding versus walking up climbs is welcome. I'm just trying to figure out if longevity or reliability is a factor since I love that the X01's (and the good hollow-pin chains) last forever and I don't want to give that up. Great helpful video btw, much appreciated!
