Hello bud. You just made me very happy. I have a 1968 Jazz Fest, which looks like it had been repainted inside. The other thing that always bothered me was that, the butt plate straddles the inside seam, word is that Ludwig wouldn’t allow anything straddle the seam. Although I do not have a stamped date inside, the badge is definitely a 1968 (serial number). The strainer is a p83, strainer, badge and muffler are next to each other. The snare side hoop has the rounded snare gate (thank you for that info). The other thing that made me think something was off, is that, the silver sparkle wrap is inside the plys. By 1968, or so they say, the wrap was not put between the ply’s. So….thanks for the snare gate info, proving that my snare may be legit, after all. 🥁🥁🥁oh, my snare is between 5 and 5.5, that was good info too.

Hey thanks for taking the time to leave a message. I’m glad some of the information was relevant and that it gave you a bit of clarity. 1969 is where i thought ludwig stopped the wrap between ply method. But in the end know one knows for sure. That’s what makes the detective work fun. If you have any recommendations for future videos im open to it.

Dude! How the hell do you only have 64 subs? Just found ur channel and its truly excellent! Some great info. Got a couple modern kits but love the vintage stuff. Have always wanted a ringo snare but dont have 30 grand so got a reissue. I do have pioneer from 61 with a duco paint. Considering covering with black oyster wrap. Keep the videos coming .

Thanks a lot for the feedback. What modern kits do you play? Pioneer drums are so cool. The big downer with those drums is how much they sell for now. So if you don’t have one you better be ready to shell out 325+

@vazquez808 Actually, my main set isn't so modern. It an white 80s tama artstar 2. Great sounding drums. They just keep getting better with age. I newer gretsch maple Catalina 4 piece and a ludwig blue vistalite double bass kit with 22" bass drums. I got the pioneer and supras but the best sounding snares for me are the tama matching maple 6.5 inch and my tama imperialstar mastercraft 6.5. Steel drum. They sound great loud and at a whisper.

Hi ! I have a Jazz Fest with the throw off right next to the badge as you mentioned (the 3 things lined up). This is by far the most beautiful sounding snare I've ever used! The tone and sustain is incredible ! Mine has white marine finish, I guess the black oyster is even harder to find...). By the way, except for cosmetic change, why is this one (3 things lined up) more sought after than the later ones ? Is it only because this was Ringo's snare, or is it because they were made differently back then, and maybe sounded better than the ones they built after ? Thanks !

You my friend have a unicorn. Those were an in between run of snare drums. And the answer that makes sense to me the most is that they were attributed to Ringo. It should also be taller then 5” but not taller than 5.5” thanks for the info. I bet it’s awesome

@@vazquez808 I was very lucky 😊The seller wanted 250€ for it and I couldn't believe my eyes...I jumped on it 😂 It's a marvel! The sound is always deep, whether it's tuned low or high. Good luck with your channel, it's very nice !

    Hey hello
I have to disagree that they stopped making the 14x5.5 in 1960.
    I have a 1965 in silver sparkle 14x 5.5
Check the dimension of yours, unless it’s a the camera angle etc, yours looks like a 5.5 to me.
    Interesting channel, thank you, subscribed

@@jarrahdrum hey thanks for the feedback, yes my snare is the oddball sized one. It’s closer to 5 1/4. But good looking out, i appreciate the feedback
