This list should've been top 8. The size difference between 5, 6 and 7 are negligible. The golden eagle is also the heaviest of all the aquiline eagles, meaning that it outsizes the martial eagle in terms of maximum size. The bald eagle outsizes the golden eagle by like 1lb in terms of maximum size as well, but has a shorter wingspan. There's also some inbetweens like wedge-tailed eagles, who have large wingspans, but don't weigh as much.
I met a stellars sea eagle during an aviary show. There are no words for it. Video, pictures, none of that prepares you for the size and sheer might of the bird in real life. I saw that thing and I knew right then in my heart of hearts, if it wanted me dead, it could make it happen.
Great to see the white tailed eagle in this video. They were extinct in Ireland but reintroduced to the south west of Ireland and seem to be doing well. They were initially killed illegally by suspected sheep farmers but that problem seems to have been sorted now. I've never seen one in the flesh so I didn't realise they were that big. I could be wrong but I think there was a nesting pair spotted up in Donegal recently too.
If we wanted to look at the largest wingspan (not necessarily weight) the wedge-tail has the largest recorded wingspan of any eagle still alive at 284cm!!
Great video as always Tsuki! You're editing skills are unreal, really dynamic! Where do you get all the footage? You seem to have brilliant footage for every topic you speak about
What about the wedge-tailed eagle? I always thought that was the 5th largest eagle. It has a wingspan of up to 2.8 metres but I guess it is much lighter than all the other eagles on this list
Iam from Northern Sweden, growing up on the coast where the swedish-finnish border meets the sea. For some reason this area was marked in grey for the white tailed eagle map, but i've seen them here pretty much every summer all my life. Might be me missunderstanding the map, but otherwise it's not correct. They are currently planning to build a massive windpower park of the coast in the area, and there is some worry that it might result in damage to the eagles, as they tend to glide on the coastal winds
In Nz we had the Haast's Eagle which hunted the Moa, and when the Maori settled in Nz they were hunted too but in the end the Maori won the war and both Haast's eagle and the Moa are extinct

Stellar might be the largest but I still consider the golden eagle to be the true king of the eagles. They are hands down the most adaptable species inhabiting almost the entire northern hemisphere. not just that even the indigenous people also hunts them out of believe that Philippine eagle hunts their children. Problem is authorities can't arrest them for killing the raptor. There's one time a tribe killed a male eagle with tracker but the tribe doesn't comply and surrender the killer because it's in their custom to kill the eagle out of fear.
