Great job making this video. It was short, simple, and to the point. You saved me some money by teaching me how to fix my dryer instead of calling a repair man
Same dryer and problem I'm working with. I will be changing mine asap. Shout out to the other women that are also diy's. Lol. I've fixed a lot of things on my own. Now to add this to the list.
Nice video thanks. My only comment is while you have it open take advantage to use a vacuum cleaner and get rid of any dust or lint (prevent any getting close to that heating element).
Is there anything else I could check? Dryer is not heating. I’ve changed the following: heating element, dryer thermostat, thermal fuse, and thermostat kit.
I was going to test for resistance but after I saw the part. I knew it was bad. I should have shown that in the video! Hope you are able to fix your issue!
Over time, they do change components as new models are made. Were you able to test it to see how it works? Where did you order it from? And were you able to match up the model numbers to ensure it's the correct part?
I also have a Maytag Continental slightly newer than this one buy about a year or so and I'm wondering if the heating element model is the same as this nonetheless this video is extremely thank you so much for making this video 👍
Most likely, but I'd make sure by putting in your units number into the search feature and ensure it's the proper part. Sometimes they change drastically between years and sometimes its the same thing they've had for years. So be safe and find out which part fits exactly for your unit. Best of luck on your fix!
Is there anything else that would cause the heater element not to work before buying another one? Like that fuse? Or electric piece you had to remove? Thank you. Very helpful.
If you electrical connectors are not fully seated in their clips then they could definitely be an issue. I did not see any fuses on my drier. I’d check all electrical to ensure it plugged into their clips correctly and if it’s not that then I’d try the heater element. Does everything else work besides the heat? Have you removed the old element? How does it look? Is anything broken on it?
@@MCFIXIT The element does have two broken coil connections. Would you have a source for genuine parts? My dryer number is MEDC216EW1. Would you know if your part number would work for this dryer? This video helped so much. Thank you! You have a new subscriber.
1) no troubleshooting. What was the meter for? 2) stop calling things "this thing", show in closeup and describe what it is. You pried "something" off the old element and put it on the new one. I'm going to have to find another vid.
Sorry you did not find the video helpful. I was going to use the meter to check resistance but I could tell by looking at the element that it was the issue. Hope you found help somewhere else.

You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Super appreciate this video! It really helped and I was able to successfully replace my dryers heating element.
So glad it was helpful!
Many many thanks from the bottom of my heart. Carl
Hope it helped! Have a great day!

Great tip! Thanks for adding this!
What was the small part you transferred from the old heating element to the new one? Was that a fuse?
Yup
Sorry, thermostat
Wow ,good simple repair
Thanks 👍. I appreciate the watch and comment!
Is there anything else I could check? Dryer is not heating. I’ve changed the following: heating element, dryer thermostat, thermal fuse, and thermostat kit.
I get a volt meter and make sure everything is getting power correctly. Sounds like it be something unplugged, not fully connected, or a burned wire.
What was the multimeter for - you didn't test the old part
I was going to test for resistance but after I saw the part. I knew it was bad. I should have shown that in the video! Hope you are able to fix your issue!
What happens if the parts aren’t identical but fit perfectly?
Over time, they do change components as new models are made. Were you able to test it to see how it works? Where did you order it from? And were you able to match up the model numbers to ensure it's the correct part?
Is the process similar for a gas dryer?
No, sorry. This process is for an electric heating element.
What was the point of taking out and putting back in "that peice"?

I couldn't have done it without watching your video .. thank you again
That orange and red wire where does it go too? Seems like it goes to the dryer vent or em I wrong?
Mine has 3 plugs!! 😩
Were was the other plug? Were you able to get it fixed? How'd the repair go?
Mine too. The new element came with multiple options, one with 3 plugs. I replaced to fit and still doesn’t work.
Thank you for the video
You are welcome! I hope it help you fix your problem!
