Purin is a creepy version of a Jigglypuff that's seemingly based a popular piece of artwork with an unknown origin. It fights Pico in its eponymous song. (Full walkthrough)

I like how it kinda subverts expectations at the start, showing that Pico is not just a BF skin, and he doesn't have to copy the notes of his opponent. Making this a really good song

I actually take it as Pico being freaked out by Purin so much that it doesn't want to follow its lead in the song, and so he sings his own thing.
Pico probably didn’t copy the Jiggypuff because he wanted to assert the fact that he would be the one to kill it.

This starts off all intimidating and spooky, but all that atmosphere goes out the window the moment Pico gets a turn. I kinda love that.

Personally i think it adds to it, jigglypuff sings slowly, and when pico picks up the pace, he doesn't care and just keeps singing slowly. And pico has a knife in his hand, yet jigglypuff is not even remotely alarmed.

Dude this was such a great song to end off the mod with! I love how Jigglypuff sings slow melodys and sometimes sings in a genuinely uneasy reverse, while pico immediately gets to it at a faster pace. They even used all of Pico’s chromatics, which is rare considering most mods just use one.
Aperntly it was supposed to have a different set of note animations for the backwards part but it's broken so it uses the normal animations instead

It feels like Pico is trying to convince himself to kill Purin during the whole song, but is too scared to dare to attack. That song is one of the slowest yet one of the most intense of the whole mod, I love it!
Not familiar with the creepy pasta but the poor thing looks in pain for most of the animations it's left reveals it has teeth I'm it's eye sockets and that one of the sockets is empty instead having the mouth holding that eye the right shows bloodied mouth and sockets as if the eyes had been plucked out teeth ruled from the gums down is same as right but has it grasping its head as if in pain and up has bone hands emerging from within it to try and peel back the skin of the louth and free itself revealing many other small white things inside likely bones or souls or something

It’s an image of jigglypuff that was famous with creepy pastas of her with bleeding eyes, however someone uploaded lavender town in reverse with her in a grey filter and it was deleted. There are reuploads however.

Jigglypuff's vocals at a point become reversed. Theres a video with this Jigglypuff with Lavender Town but Reversed in the backround, which is what it's most likely based on.
It is. I made a comment like this on an original upload on the song when the songs were leaked, however the og version of that video is deleted. There are reuploads but the original with a lot of views vanished.

I would love to know what the developers meant when they referred to it as the live action story with assets
You can see some remnants of unused events in the files. There's assets for a front facing Jigglypuff, sprites for Jiggly turning toward the camera, and assets for Pico turning to look at Nurse Joy's body before pulling out the knife from his pocket. There's also an entry of Nurse Joy in the Pokedex that implies that she was going to not be hanging out the entire song, but I'm not sure on the details behind that one.

The fact that Nurse joy is related to clafeble (to game theory) seems that jigglypuff is a cheap knock off to that pokemon and killing the clefable, it seems it tries to be cute to extermnate Other clafeble without any eyebrows.

Judging by the missing assets, i suppose that Jigglypuff is suppesed to look all normal and cute at first, then we reach the reversed part, where the backgroud changes to black, there's static and Jigglypuff uses the creepy sprites when it's looking at the camera. After the reversed section ends, Jigglypuff uses the "normal" gory sprites through the rest of the song
the missing assets also reveal that Nurse Joy probably would've been in this level, she has a Pokedex entry and all

Really great song here. The way Pico's fast-paced vocals contrast with Purin's slow paced, unsettling vocals is a very nice touch. Also really like how grotesque her sprites are, this is the only time I am genuinely unnerved by FNF sprites.
i would also like to point out that if you lose, you see picos face completly mutalated implying that this jigglypuff must be REALLY STRONG to be able to take pico like that

Banbuds really outdoes himself when it comes to body horror, The jigglypuffs sprites genuinely freaked me out.. So when Pico started singing I was really relieved to listen to something else other than that cursed jigglypuff.
If you really think about it,Purin is quite deadly. It sings its "song", to either damage you or KILL you straight up,as the pokedex says. And if you see the gameover screen,then uhh yeah picos pretty dead ngl
This song is actually somewhat connected to the canon story of Hypno. It's confirmed that Pico was out helping GF search for Boyfriend but ended up confronted Purin, when he reached the Pokémon center. It's also said that Pico's encounter with Purin likely happened around the same time GF battles Hypno, it's also possible that Purin and Pico's encounter takes place at the Pokécenter seen in the background of Safety Lullaby and Left Unchecked.

I think there was actually supposed to be multiple songs that take place inside the pokécenter with pico, since I think once I saw these grey looking professor oak sprites that fit in with the atmosphere, but they could've been fake or fanmade. I think there might've also been a mechanic involving Nurse Joy (seeing as she gets added to the dex after beating the song) that never ended up making in into the current build perhaps something to do with the reverse part?
Either way, an awesome song! Glad it made it's way into the final edition!
There was I believe an artist in the mod who showed off their work and from what I saw, if I could find the video.
There was supposed to be more after Purin, being both a second song with jiggly tuff and other pokemon with a similar color scheme, Wish I remembered which pokemon, but they were bloody and torn.
There was also an unused starting animation for Pico in which he pulls out his knife in a defensive manner, which I assume means there was meant to either be a beginning cutscene to the song which would explain the long down time until one starts singing.
And then was the unused death animation with Pico absolutely gibbed, which apparently was supposed to result in a jumpscare if you chose to quit the song and return to menu, there was nothing else that was shown if something different was to occur if you chose to retry.

I like how this song has the slowest start of the mod like: you have to wait 43 seconds until your opponent finally start "sing"

It could be the sprites of purin, or maybe her vocals, but I think the thing that scared me was the setting, there’s a broken window, a hung nurse joy, and a terrifying husk of what you can’t even call a jigglypuff anymore, which leads me to think that this version of purin is a murderous Pokémon on the loose to sum it up, and I’m guessing nurse joy ended it all because she couldn’t bear to witness what had happened to what she once had known as jigglypuff, although the broken window could’ve been because of wear and tear or cause of hypno
I also have one more theory, and that is that purin still has some emotion because in her down animation she shows a facial expression that gives a sense of regret and sorrow, also, in purins down animation you can see her hands on top of her head in almost a stressed position as if she’s contemplating what she has done and can’t handle the thought
But again, these are all just theory’s, if you guys have any information for me, please tell me

EDIT 2: It has been confirmed that Purin is NOT based on this creepypasta and just has coincidences apologies for any confusion. However the story was described to have this exact Jigglypuff
The story is about a person revisiting an old copy of their Pokémon D/P save. They used to use a Jigglypuff they loved as a kid and wanted to use the same Jigglypuff again so they got it out of the PC in the Pokémon center. The Jigglypuff was sad and gloomy because it was abandoned by their trainer for so long and it erased the player’s memory of the Jigglypuff, haunting the player with wild Jigglypuff encounters, making them unable to leave it unless they close the game.
Other info that relates to the song:
-Purin is Jigglypuff’s name in other regions, however in the creepypasta said the Jigglypuff’s nickname was, “C%*WHY-“
-Location is a Pokémon center, the area The trainer got the Jigglypuff
-it appears to be implied that the center is the same one we see in Safety Lullaby and Left Unchecked as Pico was spray painted onto the front and the broken window in Purin seems to match up with the hidden but broken center window in Safety Lullaby. This center design is the one in D/P, the game that the story takes place in
-Jigglypuff is grey and has red eyes, looking sad or emotionless like mentioned in the creepypasta
-Reversed vocals, based after the popular reversed lavender town video that has the image
-Pico is unable to run away from the Jigglypuff, similar to the player
-originally if you were to quit the song after you die, the game would’ve closed itself. Similar to how the player had to shut off the game to escape the Jigglypuff.

@@freddykrueger1699 I didn’t either until I found that, I had to dive deep a little since a quick search didn’t bring it up. The creepypasta is called “Jigglypuff” and the original version seems to be deleted or lost because the Wattpad story that had it says it’s a re-upload. So I can’t really compare which came first, the image or the creepypasta.

But even with that, it’s still not out of the question if it was inspiration for the mod makers or not since The creepy expressions Jigglypuff makes, nurse joy hanging and Pico mauled in the game over screen look to be completely original

Honestly, this song always felt the most like “horror” to me. I like it a lot. Like the vocals and atmosphere always made this feel like it should be what a horror mod should feel like, capturing a similar feeling with Monster in the base game, where what he’s singing is scary and the atmosphere is creepy, but the character following (BF in monster’s case, Pico here) isn’t taking it as such. Works great for a game like this.

@@ryojoelofficial not only that but the scenery in general the fact that this jiggly puff once lived here peacefully based off the x'd off poster nurse joy being hanged in the background the place seemingly being abandoned for years the broken window as if jiggly puff just entered Pico's face of actual anxiety and jiggly puff showing the souls it has captured in it's up pose makes this song a very awesome, sad, and creepy song at the same time
It also feels like jiggly puff is basically accepting who it's become based off the tone of the song since it seems to be in joy from the suffering it has caused
Honestly using gore in horror just makes it gross rather than scary
Jigglypuff resonates with Pico's singing rather well. They make quite the duo.

@@mateinroblox Sadly no, A lot of people that contributed started pulling assets after the controversy started stating that they weren't wanting to support the mod anymore. Then another developer decided that all the work shouldn't go to waste and decided to leak a current build with all assets still in it despite being unfinished. (the one everyone is playing now)

@@Oli6906 somewhat. A lot of it was still unfinished. But what was left unfinished, if I’m correct, was later collected and or redone by creators of the mod. Then fans who began recompiling projects of the mod used those assets to compete songs (Like Final Escape I think it’s called)

to anyone asking where this is from, this isn't based on Disabled (thats Amusia) the jigglypuff itself is just a creepypasta image that's been used in a few different places. As for it's origins from what I can gather this seems like it's own original story for this jigglypuff. What that story could be is anyone's guess.
Honestly, this is a song I can REALLY respect! The Jigglypuff's vocals kind-of go well as a background/chorus while Pico lays down some bars through rap... such an amazing song! I'm hoping to see more songs potentially pulling this off in the future.

i can awnser question 1, in the main week with hypno, you can see the same pokemon center in the background, so maybe both gf and pico were looking for bf and pico serched the center just to see that jiggly puff
