www.theaudioperv.com The Twilight Singers performed "On The Corner" on the Late Show with David Letterman on 4/26/2011. Follow us on Twitter / theaudioperv
This is probably one of the best rock songs of the next decade. Perfect pacing, passionate delivery, great lyrics, backing vocals, triumphant, unforgettable hook. Flawless execution.
I saw this live on Letterman that night on TV , this blew me out of the water. This was one of those songs that don't grow on you. Rather this song is on you from the first 30 seconds. They need to release this performance as a MP3 single and promote the hell out of it. The studio version is really good, but this version is the ultimate with raw emotion and intensity. 4 Stars for this
i had the honor driving them around when they came 3 years ago for a show in greece . Keep up the great work guys you were all amazing !!!! Your friend Aris.
i smoked cigs with dave rosser and scott ford after the band watched their letterman performance at the bar across the street following the twilight singers show @ webster hall that same night
When I turned just enough into my early thirties I dabbled in Greg’s music just enough to be like “if you can’t commit to appreciating this properly then leave it until you can” … Saw the Gutter Twins in LA with my American fling at the time and it confirmed things for me… one of my smarter moves. Over a decade later and every new damned song and musical project hits me like a tonne of bricks… I’m a little bummed I waited until now but now that I have and it’s making me think I wasn’t even ready to get ear fucked by this caliber of material. Like, it’s just as good and dark and has the bounce of any of the best the Stones wrote. How the fuck isn’t his work more popular?!?!?!
You've got to be in the mood for Dulli....you cannot casually listen.....it helps if you're depressed, or angry, or somewhere that isn't a great place.....then you crank it up....you grimace, you cry, you scream.....Dulli takes you to places that nobody else can. He is a master of the dark arts.
@whipchorus I saw them on the acoustic tour in SF. Rosser, Dulli, & Curley were very cool to hang afterwards & talk. I had a bunch of questions for him & failed to ask them all. My first was where are the Teles? Others questions was the irony of recording a lot of the same covers as another artist. Rosser was nice enough to show me his rig & Guild? archtop. Curley & I have a mutual friend. Surreal fucking night for sure.
Fabulous fabulous fabulous!! Nobody can crank it like Greg Dulli-one unique & eclectic guy! Reminds me of the old Afghan Whigs tunes! So thrilled to see Greg recording again! Last time I checked that tour calendar, there weren't NEARLY enuff dates in the U. S. Would love to see this performed live!!! xx
@teh1990dude Completely agree 100%. The guitars in the beginning sound so great on this live version. Plus the powerful raw driving of this song really shines on this performance. The lead vocals are perfect - even when he clips the last note at times to look at the neck. And the backup vocals blew me away when I heard them come in. Do we have to mention the solo... wow. To me the best part is how he bleeds out the last part of the solo after the vocals come back. Damn good.
saw them as the afghans early ninties in a club here in tampa fla and was a hard core fan up till now.just wish he'd take care of himself more so he'll be around longer.....we need bands like you around greg.....
This is the same song Greg has been writing for years. It could easily be a Whigs tune. The formula is even the same; start with a repetitive chord progression, build in intensity to the chorus, then turn the amps to eleven hammering the progression home. Add a few provocative, personal sounding lyrics over that same old melody, and there you have it; another Greg Dulli song.
Probably the greatest band at this time. They were on fire. Dynamite steps is a masterpiece
goddamn right
nailed it
I miss this band sooooo much! RIP Dave Rosser. ❤
Imagine being in that audience and having that blast your face clean off. Whew. Lucky bastards.
Everything Dulli touches just turns to fkn gold.. x

2:55 Rosser wraps it up with a bow on it. SWEET.

It sure is. The album version is good, but I like this one MUCH better.
Abso (fuckin) lutely...it smolders if you have no reaction to this your dead
I wonder at anytime did Dave ever ask Greg "How come we keep booking different bands and it's always you in the lead?"
Fuck. Dave was so good. RIP brother.
Rosser's solo 🙌
Dave never dies!!!!!
This live version beats the album version without a doubt, excellent band, as we could've expected from the presence of Greg

Most people just are not that interested or just too lazy to look beyond the mainstream.
This album is the best I've heard in 2011.
Thanks to The Audio Perv

Love Dave Rosser Playing... one of my favorites
Terry Monse I really miss Dave. I’m glad I got to see him perform with the TS, Greg solo and the ‘Whigs.

What happened to Dulli's rosewood Tele? He didn't just put it away forever did he? Can't believe that.

@slackjawed7475 Thanks for that info. Much appreciated.
I think Dulli's doing fine now.
Which Baldwin brother is the lead singer?
..end of the song...Letterman comes to shake Dulli's hand..Dulli barely moves...Dulli knows; don't know what, but he knows.
Greg got a deal with Gibson....335's now.
is this the manics in disguise
You mean physically?
Ok, everybody grab a guitar... And then they did!

hal9000lovesdaisy It definitely sounds like it could be a Whigs song.
He reportedly has an appetite for the same drugs, too.
