I stay up late just to see Bright Eyes perform. It was AMAZING!!! When they started playing, i scream with excitement and woke up my parents, they got scared..lol BRIGHT EYES ROCKS!!! BEST BAND EVER!!!
THEY ROCKED THIS PERFORMANCE. IT WAS AWESOME TO WATCH AND LISTEN TO. WAY TO GO Y'ALL. BRAVO! And so glad to see Conor feeling what he's singing again. Bravo Bravo
Oh my, I spy with my little eye one of the (brand spanking) new Vintage Vibe electric pianos! It's the stunning silver-top looking wurlitzer, and it sounds amazing! I am so excited to see one of these in action.
In my English large group at school the teachers played this song for the poetry unit, they didn't check the sound first so when it came on it started LOUD, and everyone jumped a little. Made me proud to be a Bright Eyes fan Also, LETTERMAN YOU'RE HOLDING IT UPSIDE DOWN YOU IDIOT!
So dope that spiderman managed to get 3 talented musicians of his exact same height to join him in the front of the stage. (just playin Conor, love u thank u)
Amazing performance everyone killed and i loved the fact it just the core pppl of bright eyes on stage the ones hes been touring with for years i love the shirt too !
This reminds me of "old" Bright Eyes so much: the song, the lyrics, the "jam" feeling that comes with a big group, even the way Conor is dressed and coiffed, haha. Don't get me wrong-- I love just about everything he's ever done-- but "The People's Key" also has that added element of nostalgia (at least for me). Can't wait to see them in June... I scored pre-sale tickets in Philadelphia. Totally worth the 6 hour drive, as I've only gotten to see him with the Mystic Valley Band. :)
I'm guessing that this is the national television debut of the new Vintage Vibe electric piano, which is based on Rhodes tine/tonebar engineering. A beautiful instrument, it's a shame that its sound wasn't featured more prominently.
@PULCHRITUDINOUS actually we're both wrong. the inside part has just been printed upside down.. the cut out flames are the right way, it's just the actual album artwork that's upside down. No need to be so hostile, friend. We're all here for the same reason.
@missxcaliforniaa I know she isn't playing much in this song but they are a band so I think it's cool that she is there and play her little thing in the end. I don't think she is the one who wants to be there because it must be kind of awkward being on stage when you don't play anything most of the song.
@leighxcore11 excuse me for the incorrect terminology. the "vinyl" the "special edition lp" the "album", and everything else everyone responded with, correcting me. yeah, i've owned the "CD" since feb 15th as well. and as for being a dIe hArD BrIgHt eYeSs FaN ~*~*~* and not knowing which way to hold the album,cd,vinyl, special edition LP blahbla, look at 0:42-0:45 in this video saddle creek posted, then tell me he's not holding it upside down
@pokerbabe779 are you not a musician? i'm just curious, because if you are you would know she doesn't need to be the most dominant sound, it's the balance of her voice against conor's. it's a tone color thing.
Andy LeMaster, Clark Baechle, and Laura Burhenn in the backing band?!? Hell yeah, that's like a Saddle Creek all-star cast. If only Jenny Lewis and Jason Boesel were playing with them. Then they'd be unstoppable.
People asking "what is the girl for!!?!?!?" are dumb. She's part of the touring set-up of the band - she plays/sings on other songs and adds a bit of vocal depth to this one. She's part of the band, that's why she's there.
mike mogis is the unsung hero of bright eyes...always in the background hiding but laying down crazy shit
gold mine gutted @ paradiso, amsterdam.
Man, we could really use Bright Eyes again in this world.
ye
Gordon Maskell you’re in luck...

Let there be music!
Mike Mogis' guitar in this song just amazes me. Always in the background and at the same time, giving Bright Eyes a beautiful sound.
I stay up late just to see Bright Eyes perform. It was AMAZING!!! When they started playing, i scream with excitement and woke up my parents, they got scared..lol
BRIGHT EYES ROCKS!!! BEST BAND EVER!!!
Real hero is Mogis laying down some fine guitar
always there
Conor never underplays Mike's contribution to Bright Eyes.
Actually, great riffs here
Conor Oberst was about the last person to give up emo bangs. I should know, I followed his example
and thank God he finally did...
Master class
Rocks so hard
Such spacey spiritual existential lyrics
Luv it
His live performances have really improved through the years.
Improved?
He's always Been amazing
this was the one time i watched letterman and i discovered a new fav band
THEY ROCKED THIS PERFORMANCE. IT WAS AWESOME TO WATCH AND LISTEN TO. WAY TO GO Y'ALL. BRAVO! And so glad to see Conor feeling what he's singing again. Bravo Bravo

I'm going to see Bright Eyes tomorrow night! I'm so excited! Conor, his music, his mind, everything about him is just so damn beautiful.
This is ridiculously great... I wish they'd perform anywhere near me!
In my English large group at school the teachers played this song for the poetry unit, they didn't check the sound first so when it came on it started LOUD, and everyone jumped a little. Made me proud to be a Bright Eyes fan
Also, LETTERMAN YOU'RE HOLDING IT UPSIDE DOWN YOU IDIOT!
cant believe how famous hes getting... gives a great performance.
Their keyboardist is amazing
So dope that spiderman managed to get 3 talented musicians of his exact same height to join him in the front of the stage.
(just playin Conor, love u thank u)

I don't know if anyone has said yet or not, but the keyboardist is laura burhenn, she is playing with them on this recent tour

@DrivenBlack his "drummer bass kick stand" (kick drum head) is C&C for C&C Custom Drums
ALBUM IS UPSDE DOWN
This reminds me of "old" Bright Eyes so much: the song, the lyrics, the "jam" feeling that comes with a big group, even the way Conor is dressed and coiffed, haha. This is love.
this was so good!
I might have found my new favorite band.
I wish the studio version could have sounded like this. In fact, I wish the whole album had this kind of sound. It's great.
nice job
so good yes
Jeff Taargus And before the So. Good. Yes. emphatic existed (.)
wow he sounds good!
Bright Eyes was amazing at SXSW! Its too bad it had to end.
My favorite album of 2011 by far.
damn that was awesome!
i love this band lol
brillante
Conor, please play the Colonial in Keene NH!
ANYONE ELSE NOTICE LETTERMAN'S HOLDING THE CD UPSIDE DOWN WHEN HE FIRST INTRODUCES THEM?
I'm guessing that this is the national television debut of the new Vintage Vibe electric piano, which is based on Rhodes tine/tonebar engineering. A beautiful instrument, it's a shame that its sound wasn't featured more prominently.
@PULCHRITUDINOUS actually we're both wrong. the inside part has just been printed upside down.. the cut out flames are the right way, it's just the actual album artwork that's upside down. No need to be so hostile, friend. We're all here for the same reason.
@brightredrain everything. she is the queen of all.
Yay
Still Love you, conor~
@MrReverendgreen I think she's the lead singer of the mynabirds (sp?).
@MrReverendgreen Her name is Laura Burhenn from Georgie James
@missxcaliforniaa I know she isn't playing much in this song but they are a band so I think it's cool that she is there and play her little thing in the end. I don't think she is the one who wants to be there because it must be kind of awkward being on stage when you don't play anything most of the song.
It is.
I'm so glad Drake Bell got away from Nickolodeon and started doing this......
@PULCHRITUDINOUS That was an LP not a CD
@pokerbabe779 She sang some pretty rockin' solo work when I saw them last week. Seriously, this chick rocks.
@oitoy i didnt say that i didnt know what he was doing or i found it weird or anything like that. i said i wouldnt know how to RESPOND to it
Is Conor playing a... baritone Tele?
@dude999998 He's got it running through the effects pedal on top
@jordanhackney im not sure what u mean when u say he is 8 different people
@leighxcore11 excuse me for the incorrect terminology. the "vinyl" the "special edition lp" the "album", and everything else everyone responded with, correcting me. yeah, i've owned the "CD" since feb 15th as well. and as for being a dIe hArD BrIgHt eYeSs FaN ~*~*~* and not knowing which way to hold the album,cd,vinyl, special edition LP blahbla, look at 0:42-0:45 in this video saddle creek posted, then tell me he's not holding it upside down
The instrumentation sounded like The Bravery or something. Odd. I love how Conor still looks like a kid.
@pokerbabe779 are you not a musician? i'm just curious, because if you are you would know she doesn't need to be the most dominant sound, it's the balance of her voice against conor's. it's a tone color thing.
Is that CC on the drummer bass kick stand for Chastworth???
Does anyone know what guitar (the red one) Mike Mogis is using? Also, create performance.
I love when Paul says "Aww. Too Bad.." TehehehehehefhehehfeWIHJSADLKFpoot
@pokerbabe779 a bit of eye candy and for detail. whats your band called i wants to see if your any good
@314aloneinthedark314 what is he singing about that you think ppl are missing?
Andy LeMaster, Clark Baechle, and Laura Burhenn in the backing band?!? Hell yeah, that's like a Saddle Creek all-star cast. If only Jenny Lewis and Jason Boesel were playing with them. Then they'd be unstoppable.
So glad Conor's hair is back.
Makes Toronto a must. Not that it wasn't.
nice teleprompter reading Dave.
What is the actual name of the color of Conor's tele
Butterscotch
Is it possible that it could be Laura from the Mynabirds? That's my best guess.
People asking "what is the girl for!!?!?!?" are dumb. She's part of the touring set-up of the band - she plays/sings on other songs and adds a bit of vocal depth to this one. She's part of the band, that's why she's there.
@PULCHRITUDINOUS holy shit thats a big cd
That or he has a regular guitar tuned to B Standard. Most likely it is a baritone.
Does anyone else see Letterman wondering off to the side at 1:56?
@MrPohnpeiboy no it isnt, and the patterns are similar, but different
sound is off video yeah?
what kind of guitar is the dude in the back playing?
@THElluis1
favorite line
@mils0r Spot on
@whereartesteban Yeah. I don't know, he's just so tense it makes me cringe trying to think of playing guitar like that.
@mfwilkens that's a vinyl. wtf.
@ItsFlod can you blame him?
fuk yeh.
Diamond polka dotted shirt FTW.
That lady’s keyboard must only play if you stare down at it
does anyone know the chords?
This isn't their last album.
I didn't know emo Peter Parker started a band
oh man... letterman in 1080p?
no Bueno...
@PULCHRITUDINOUS
yeah that's not a cd, it's a record. But nice pointless observation.
CONOR AND THE KEYBOARDIST'S OUTFITS MATCH!
mike is so cute
@PULCHRITUDINOUS
It's called a record...
March 6th can't come soon enough.
Laura Burhenn is so beautiful. listen to her band Mynabirds
God.
