Zod's wife also known as Ursa Zod, was using the Eye of Ekron which made her into the new Emerald Empress, this gave her mystic abilities and it's why she wasn't as vulnerable to magic as a normal Kryptonian would usually be since she herself was using magic.
@@coltonbell8284 Kaldur is nowhere near Zatanna's level of magic, Kaldur's magic is only shown to be strong enough to effect Superboy who is HALF Kryptonian so he is even weaker to magic than a full Kryptonian would be, Zod while despite not being fully powered up is probably already close to Superman's level and Kaldur isn't beating Superman anytime soon without using Kryptonite.
