- In this episode you join me dry fly fishing for wild brown trout in the highlands of Scotland. Dapping Fly fishing is an old traditional form of dry fly fishing, when conditions are right this will catch more fish. I have made this video into a guide to dapping and hopefully it will inspire you to give it a go.

Nice one mate, great buzz watching them attack like a great white hitting a seal. This is why I love top water fishing for bass, it never gets boring. Thanks for sharing.

Used to Dap with the big fly rod with the true dapping flies when I was a boy up Loch Eilt, two in the boat one would use the fly rod the other the dapping rod had salmon and big big sea trout, seeing the fish take the fly in mid air was wonderous. If the fish missed the dapping fly, it inverably take the fly on the rod.

Whats the biggest approx size fish you would expect to see in that water you fish ?
Hi Troj, in the that wild water there is the odd few up to 3lb, which would be an awesome wild brown trout.

Hi Peter, thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply buddy. No kayak fishing since last year. I’ve just been caught up in other fishing interests. I’m at a bit of a crossroads with the kayak as I now have a different car with no roof bars and it’s proving quite difficult to find bars that are suitable. I’m reluctant to sell it as I know I will regret it but it’s just sitting there.
Dapping with Mayfly , wall fly , daddies is an excellent way to bring on the trout , i invented the #THEJODEA for just this job ,, nice video m8
