Superb video! Nevertheless it makes me feel sad to see you fishing for Grayling in winter. Here in Switzerland we have fished for ages in winter with special kind of Centre pin reels (much more filigran but bigger than the ones used in the UK), but our great tradition fishing for winter Grayling is gone by the world wide heating effect. We lost not only our our extraordinary good Grayling but also our trout stocks only within the last 10-15 years due to water temperatures in summer up to 28.5 degrees. It‘s very depressing , because I was born and grew up from early childhood with Grayling trotting in Winter on River Rhein, Reuss, Limmat, Aare and many more Rivers, but this is now over for ever, the Grayling stocks as plenty they was in past are gone ….. and only big Chubs and Barbel stocks have left behind which, becoming recently a new predator on their sites …. The big catfish (up to 2 meter 50 centimeters tall) It‘s like a bad movie where the Story is about an Aliens invasion!😢

Good way of getting a fly out ,purist fly fisherman in theory want to present a fly like a bombardia can but make it difficult for themselves by using a thick plastic type line !! 🤣🤣 ,iv'e done it ! I find a Sea Trout very fickle ,never had much luck with them, both Salmon and Sea Trout must feed on shrimps but find it strange that a salmon will take a preserved shrimp in the freshwater but a Sea Trout will never look at one ,never,If i heard someone took one on a shrimp it woud be a first ,in my 66 years i have never seen it,ive had plenty of Salmon on them but not Troot !!! strange !

Hi Douglas. I feel glad for both you and Steve to see that your trip went so well. Just that little bit of challenge and adversity when we climb cliffs, hang out on beaches at night and wade close to our tops is perhaps enough to teach us about the confidence that comes with self reliance and independence, but also the value of kindness and friendliness. I actually feel very proud of the fishing community in the UK. Our social media interactions have not been polluted by nonsense and acrimony. And we are a very large community. Let's take our wins where we can find them. I'll sithi after! Dave.

Just picked up on your videos whilst searching, to learn sea fishing techniques. as a complete novice to sea fishing, i want to learn. Not sure what the negative comments were but hey !! Stuff em ! I saw fish jumping at Bamburgh ,Northumberland.i had a chuck at them with a Toby but no joy .I was thinking Sea Trout or Salmon ,is there many other seafish that show themselves ? Did you mention once that Mackerel would ? Cheers. Lovely fish. Would love to catch one in the sea. Are they residents or moving fish. Cheers. Good vids 👍👍

Below the houses well I never, nice fish!That rock bar is the Muckle Carr your referring too.,I see someone brave suggests fishing on it at low water..at your peril -the swell covers it in blink of an eye.,most rock hoppers go up to the castle where your casting into 60 foot plus of water.,I fish the area by boat been a hit miss year.
