Well sadly, if laptops can get away with it (different model numbers with different specifications with the same marketing name) then the phone manufactures can do the same too (e.g. the S20 Ultra in U.S. has a model number of SM-G988U while the other is SM-G988B).

I have to say, I bought an S20 with Exynos. And although I am really happy about the general Performance, and fine about the battery performance I'm kind of pissed just because I know that it could be even better. It's kinda unfair I feel
I was running a OnePlus 6 and am now on the Exynos S20. I feel like it heats up far too much for what it is. But apart from that I think it's a very, very solid device. Most of us won't notice anything major in terms of real world usage, except for maybe the battery. Knowing it could be better sucks however.

Yep... Not mentioning the ethical side of it... And now I really don't know what to do... My mom's s6 is dying the fault on the battery that drain to fast and she's really reluctant to take anything else than Samsung (she's used to it and most of all she's the one that always help his mother on his Samsung and need to have the same menus structure...) But when have exynos in France and lot of average users are saying it's crap on battery and heat even if they aren't aware of this exynos situation... But it seems an impossible choice for his next which she'll need very soon.....
you missed one more thing in battery department,that is battery standby,exynos version tend to lose more battery percentage over time than the snapdragon version
What bugs me is that there still isn't any meaningful tool for testing battery life. Everyone tries to actively drain the battery to establish battery life. Some report the screen on time, which is even more absurd.
HSP565 to see the excat battery life we have to use the mobiles through out the day,so that we can clearly observe what is going on with our mobile battery,in day to day use i observe standby time is more important for good battery performance,all youtubers just try to show the screen on time,but that is not excatly what we observe in day to day use,if standby of battery is good then it will hold the charge much more longer,iam also wondering why there is no battery testing apps that shows exact battery life..!

The s7 was like that i think, the s8 almost equal , s9 equal, s10 snapdragon better and now its a totally diffrent level like a next generation diffrence

Ah I remember now, the fiasco named Snapdragon 810, I think that year Samsung decided not to use the SD810 on its S6/S6e altogether because of the overheating issue. That year the Exynos truely shined.
Sorry, but that's a poor theory. Even the guy running this channel doesn't know what he's talking about, deliberately of course. He says the camera sensors are the same, but they aren't. He also thinks Exynos SoC's are cheaper, but they are not. They use more silicon, so are more expensive to manufacture. Plus, the Exynos custom core team was massive, compared to anything Qualcomm have.

You dont need to be an profi engineer to see biiig issues overheating, unpleasant to hold hot device in hand,hard to use for gaming, not same battery time. And as what was confirmed not only cameras but sound chipset is not same good as Qualcom Snapdragon. Well, I don't think Exynos is as expensive than Snapdragon 865 which is $500 a piece including the mandatory X55 modem. It's a product produced by them, sure it's a lot cheaper and economically viable for them to use their own instead of buying from competitor. Problem is though, their own Exynos is a piece of turd.
We need more youtubers like you to ROAST Exynos. This is a shame really. I live in France, and I'm paying 1009€ (=1090$ US) for the S20 5G Exynos while in the US you get a 22% faster phone equiped with SnapDragon for 999$ (=924€).
In Portugal we get it for around 920€. One of our carriers actually has a 100€ sale on it so I could get itfor 820€ but considering I would still get a Exynos chipset.... not worth imo

Was looking to buy the S10 when I came out but the fact that it has the exynos, not the snap dragon stopped me. I have always been a Samsung fan till this came about, I won't be buying another until it's put right,same phone high price but inferior chipset to other countries feels like we are treated as a second class country
Exynos gets better with software updates, but that might be too late if the battery is damaged.. buying an exynos s10 now shouldn't be a problem since it's way cheaper and has all the updates already

Samsung is a big company, Snapdragon chips would have shortage because of Samsung buying them for their all phones, also Samsung phones will expensiver, so better leave Snapdragon for flagships
@@TheXpresive nah, there wouldn't be a shortage, the galaxy lines are not very sold you know, most people buy midrange phones and samsung's best sellers are the a50, a20 and a10e. for example xiaomi sells way more flagships than samsung, and they use only the high end snapdragon chip
@@gobir_roz Some S series after 6th bought whole batch of Snapdragon, they're selling a hella lot of phones, they would need 4 times more SoC's than now if they wouldn't use their exynoss for S series global version. But they should put SD into their S series or make exynoss chip that is equal performance with SD, cause that is not fair for global version.
Bet you'll regret saying that next year when Exynos matches or possibly overtakes Snapdragon. They are ditching their custom cores to use the same as Snapdragon. And they are implementing AMD GPU technology, where the Exynos lacks behind.
I'm late to the party here, but I've got to say I think the photo samples on the Exynos look significantly better. Less noise and oversharpening, the colours look more true to tone too. The problem is that most people are tricked with high saturation and brightening into thinking that the photograph is better. When in fact, it looks more like a cartoon. Other than photos though, the Exynos SoC sucks.
I actually preferred some shots from the exynos and some from the snapdragon. But yeah, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless viewing them side by side.

These differences aren’t in any way slight. They’re the same as the differences between the S10 and the S20. If you’re on the Exynos track, you’re effectively a generation behind.
superchibiwings , you can try and erase your cache partition. Me and my wife are also Galaxy Note 9 users, and after the latest updates the phones were very laggy. The issue completely went away after booting in rescue mode and deleting the cache.
The Exynos is getting to be an embarrassment for a "flagship" phone ... especially since UK price is one of the higher ones already .... almost like we're getting an 855 performance but getting charged premium for it It's why I have given up on my Samsung upgrades
@@Feyzei i have s10e , i moved to samsung from sony cuz they axed compact line up , so i have high expectations for this phone . What i can tell xz1 compact sd835 can run pubg full max setting with screen recorder running in background without no frame rate drops or heats . But my s10e cant even run moba games at mid setting , unless u open it from game booster it will get stable frame rate for about 30 mins of gaming then it will start heating again . I have reconsider to get Xperia 5 but it doesn't have 3.5 mm jack . If they just make xperia 5 mark 2 wif head phone jack ill definitely leave samsung . Or sell this and import new one from US? I love the design and One UI btw

The low light selfie is actually the only one that looks worse than A the image is overexposed and has less deatails.The house one looks better on B just look at the road it has more detail the flower one looks better too on B look at the vase better textures ,the clock one I am not sure though B overexposed and A sorta underexposed Byt u can clearly see that B lost shadows there while A didn't.The camera picture one also looks better on B and look at the flower picture one there's a letter near it the text is almost readavle on B whioe on A it looks like a blurry mush
Using my s10+ that I bought last year when I was in the US. I will never use a exynos in Europe again. Even the cameras of the same phone looks worse with the exynos version. Wish people would compare the exynos from this year with snapdragon from last year.
I did actually. I'm using HTC U11 which runs on SD835. The details on the Samsung website are so misleading that I placed orders for 2 units of the ultra version here in India. But after knowing that they are shipping the inferior Exynos chipsets here, I compared Exynos 990 with SD 865. Samsung failed. Next compared it against 855. It failed again. You know what? then I compared it against the 835. It won against 835 but that's not a big deal. 835 is a very old chipset. Samsung should be ashamed of using mid-class chipsets on flagships. I canceled my order for the ultra. Happily waiting for OnePlus 8 Pro. 6 more days to go for OnePlus.

I'm coming up on contract renewal time in a couple of months and researching my next phone with the S20 being the lead contender but only now found out about this Snapdragon vs Exynos issue which would leave me shortchanged in the UK. It is an issue and is putting me off the S20 honestly. Great real world demonstration of how we're being diddled in the UK.
@@sierrachief117 Exactly. BTW I need only 2 units 🤣. I was quite impressed with the on-paper specs of the ultra. The lockdown in the country saved me from corona and the financial loss. The package got stuck in the way and I got enough time dig deeper in the Samsung's in house tech. Amazon was very helpful to get the order cancelled and refund the money on time.

Please if you want to keep the exynos chipset, use it as a "lite" S/note and any galaxy A device or just make it actually as powerful if not more than the Snapdragon version
Made the switch from Samsung GS5 to OnePlus 5 a little over two years ago when my Samsung started to lag like mad and resetting the phone didn't do much to solve the issue. A month after getting my OP5, I had a friend installing a custom ROM on my Samsung phone... and wouldn't you know it, all the lag was gone. And it even incorporated the latest Android version at the time. Now even though my Oneplus 5 still keeps up pretty fine with most things I do and still receives updates - still awaiting the latest Android OS promised upgrade - I'm now considering selling my OP5 to get the OP8 Pro, mainly due to the wireless fast-charging capability and IP68 rating.
I got a samsung a70 and it has snapdragon chip. The phone has a snapdragon chip and they are the same for every country, its just that i have to wait longer for the software updates considering I'm from australi
Why? New exynos 1080 (mid range) beats Snapdragon 865+ and top end will compete way better to 875, also to note they have have worked with amd for new gpus so things might change in 2021
If you can grab one from China but you'll have to make sure they open it and activate it with their sim card first before shipping.. since Middle East countries sell only Exynos version. Why the headache, just go with other brands choose from Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi etc..

You missed something important. In fact the sensor on the Snapdragon model is the superior Sony sensor while theh the ISOCELL in house sensor on the Exynos. That explains the difference in photo quality better.
It's all about the SOC's on board processing. Not the image sensor. An image sensor just collects light. (Photons) and sends it to the SoC to be converted into an actual picture.
@@waycoolscootaloo of course the sensor is very important. Not all sensors are equal. Sony's sensor are better than Samsung. The petition mentioned in the video asks also Samsung to give up on their SoCs AND sensors.

And I would hope their just as good as Sony's, since many top rated Android phones choose to infact use Samsung sensors over Sony sensors. The sensor isn't the issue. The Snapdragon version looks better, just because of better onboard image processing, as the video states. Also the Snapdragon S20 Ultra and the Exynos S20 Ultra both use a Samsung ISO Cell for their main 108MP image sensor. The Snapdragon version takes better pictures strictly due to image processing, as both phones have the exact same software and software version.
Not actually, they have distributed all the sensors completely random and you can't say which phone have got which sensor, and the image quality isn't different between them, it's just ao unscientific and unfair to say it.
I was about to buy s20 global for $650 on eBay new as USA cost about $850 on sale unlocked. The global has only 8 ram the USA 12 ram. The USA come with 1 year warranty and global none.. would it worth to pay $200 more for USA model? Also USA for 5g
The exynos version seem to do worse in battery life/throttling testing in my experience. Shame on all the reviewers who glossed over this problem until very recently.

Yes, the one above is the snapdragon. If you look at the cables the exinos version is attached to the white cable in the next shot too. You can also (slightly) see the colour of the phone around the borders
exynos s20+ is not bad at all - moved from iphone x, so far i am very happy with it - battery wise i can get through the day no problems, moving between apps is butter smooth inlcuding all notifications - fps in games could be higher this is where snapdragon does outstanding job but since i have decent desktop i dont play games on my phone - overall s20+ is still a good choice IMO
I think there is only 1 issue with oneplus which stops me from buying it that it is from a chinese manufacturer. I hate backing up my data to oneplus servers. There were plenty of news about them that they were stealing data.
I remember all the shit Apple got years ago when it came to light that they were using TSMC and Samsung to manufacture the A9 chip, and there was a very negligible difference in performance between the two. This Exynos/Snapdragon difference is pretty stark in comparison, and I think Apple would be ripped a new one if they did the same. Samsung need to step up their game or stop shitting on consumers just to keep their Exynos manufacturing game alive. Ultimately an S20 from the US and an S20 from the UK should be comparable in spec, and we shouldn’t be seeing all these differences. I applaud people like Thetechchap for highlighting this because Samsung know full well that most reviews are coming from North America, and very little consideration will be made for the Exynos variants in these reviewers’ final conclusions.
Can you please let me know your thoughts on: Flipkart Big Billion Day is offering a ridiculous 39% discount on Samsung S20 plus and the OnePlus 8 Pro is still stuck at the same price. Considering the comparatively poor camera performance and the hardware/software issues of OnePlus 8 Pro and Exynos 990 chipset’s poor performance and inferior power efficiency of Samsung S20+....which should be the correct buy right now..?

This is exactly one of the big reasons why, after careful consideration and loads of comparisons, I have decided to return my Exynos S20 Ultra. Very underwhelming for the price overall. I was also wondering why my US friends are getting more battery life and different looking photos out of theirs. Here is the answer. Having a nice display is not enough to charge this money.
They still had many Exynos left from the S8 & S9 phones, they changed the number, put them in S20 ultra, made the price triple and sold them to the rich Europeans 😅

I bought the S20 plus with the exynos processor. This phone gets directly very hot with just scrolling trough the apps menu or using a simple app with every other function shut off. This is not acceaptable anno 2020. Samsung must do something about this!

3:51 finally someone who gives real numbers. I got this phone 2 days ago and it literally needs charging at least twice a day with medium usage and if I do gaming, it needs to charge anywhere between 3 to 5 times a day. Before this I had a Redmi 3S prime which is now over 4 years old and I only stopped using it when I got this phone 2 days ago. Even that phone has a better battery performance. Obviously it is not fast enough or runs games like this device. But if u make a 20 storey building u need to build the base in context to that. This phone’s base is like a 4 storey building with 20 storey building structure. Returning it today. I don’t even feel like getting another phone. Most probably will keep using the Redmi for a few more months. It is really old but at least it’s not a scam.
Yes it is a big deal, as I wanted to buy this year the Samsung's Galaxy S20 Ulta I changed my mind seeing that is a inferior product and now I'm waiting for One +8 pro phone or Realme X50 pro 5G as I need a dual SIM card mobile phone. They don't have the same sensors in the main cam. The Snapdragon has a Sony and the Exynos an Isocell sensor. Samsung should be ashamed. Thanks for raising this issue.

Well sadly, if laptops can get away with it (different model numbers with different specifications with the same marketing name) then the phone manufactures can do the same too (e.g. the S20 Ultra in U.S. has a model number of SM-G988U while the other is SM-G988B).

I was running a OnePlus 6 and am now on the Exynos S20. I feel like it heats up far too much for what it is. But apart from that I think it's a very, very solid device. Most of us won't notice anything major in terms of real world usage, except for maybe the battery. Knowing it could be better sucks however.

My mom's s6 is dying the fault on the battery that drain to fast and she's really reluctant to take anything else than Samsung (she's used to it and most of all she's the one that always help his mother on his Samsung and need to have the same menus structure...) What bugs me is that there still isn't any meaningful tool for testing battery life. Everyone tries to actively drain the battery to establish battery life. Some report the screen on time, which is even more absurd.

Ah I remember now, the fiasco named Snapdragon 810, I think that year Samsung decided not to use the SD810 on its S6/S6e altogether because of the overheating issue. That year the Exynos truely shined.

He also thinks Exynos SoC's are cheaper, but they are not. They use more silicon, so are more expensive to manufacture. Plus, the Exynos custom core team was massive, compared to anything Qualcomm have.

Well, I don't think Exynos is as expensive than Snapdragon 865 which is $500 a piece including the mandatory X55 modem. It's a product produced by them, sure it's a lot cheaper and economically viable for them to use their own instead of buying from competitor. Problem is though, their own Exynos is a piece of turd.

This is a shame really. I live in France, and I'm paying 1009€ (=1090$ US) for the S20 5G Exynos while in the US you get a 22% faster phone equiped with SnapDragon for 999$ (=924€).

Was looking to buy the S10 when I came out but the fact that it has the exynos, not the snap dragon stopped me.
I have always been a Samsung fan till this came about, I won't be buying another until it's put right,same phone high price but inferior chipset to other countries feels like we are treated as a second class country
Exynos gets better with software updates, but that might be too late if the battery is damaged.. buying an exynos s10 now shouldn't be a problem since it's way cheaper and has all the updates already

Bet you'll regret saying that next year when Exynos matches or possibly overtakes Snapdragon. They are ditching their custom cores to use the same as Snapdragon. And they are implementing AMD GPU technology, where the Exynos lacks behind.
I'm late to the party here, but I've got to say I think the photo samples on the Exynos look significantly better. Less noise and oversharpening, the colours look more true to tone too.
The problem is that most people are tricked with high saturation and brightening into thinking that the photograph is better. When in fact, it looks more like a cartoon.
Other than photos though, the Exynos SoC sucks.
I actually preferred some shots from the exynos and some from the snapdragon. But yeah, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless viewing them side by side.

superchibiwings , you can try and erase your cache partition. Me and my wife are also Galaxy Note 9 users, and after the latest updates the phones were very laggy. The issue completely went away after booting in rescue mode and deleting the cache.
The Exynos is getting to be an embarrassment for a "flagship" phone ... especially since UK price is one of the higher ones already .... almost like we're getting an 855 performance but getting charged premium for it

What i can tell xz1 compact sd835 can run pubg full max setting with screen recorder running in background without no frame rate drops or heats . But my s10e cant even run moba games at mid setting , unless u open it from game booster it will get stable frame rate for about 30 mins of gaming then it will start heating again . I have reconsider to get Xperia 5 but it doesn't have 3.5 mm jack . If they just make xperia 5 mark 2 wif head phone jack ill definitely leave samsung . Or sell this and import new one from US? I love the design and One UI btw

The low light selfie is actually the only one that looks worse than A the image is overexposed and has less deatails.The house one looks better on B just look at the road it has more detail the flower one looks better too on B look at the vase better textures ,the clock one I am not sure though B overexposed and A sorta underexposed Byt u can clearly see that B lost shadows there while A didn't.The camera picture one also looks better on B and look at the flower picture one there's a letter near it the text is almost readavle on B whioe on A it looks like a blurry mush
Using my s10+ that I bought last year when I was in the US. I will never use a exynos in Europe again. Even the cameras of the same phone looks worse with the exynos version. Wish people would compare the exynos from this year with snapdragon from last year.
I did actually. I'm using HTC U11 which runs on SD835. The details on the Samsung website are so misleading that I placed orders for 2 units of the ultra version here in India. But after knowing that they are shipping the inferior Exynos chipsets here, I compared Exynos 990 with SD 865. Samsung failed. Next compared it against 855. It failed again. You know what? then I compared it against the 835. It won against 835 but that's not a big deal. 835 is a very old chipset. Samsung should be ashamed of using mid-class chipsets on flagships. I canceled my order for the ultra. Happily waiting for OnePlus 8 Pro. 6 more days to go for OnePlus.

Please if you want to keep the exynos chipset, use it as a "lite" S/note and any galaxy A device or just make it actually as powerful if not more than the Snapdragon version
Made the switch from Samsung GS5 to OnePlus 5 a little over two years ago when my Samsung started to lag like mad and resetting the phone didn't do much to solve the issue. A month after getting my OP5, I had a friend installing a custom ROM on my Samsung phone... and wouldn't you know it, all the lag was gone. And it even incorporated the latest Android version at the time.
Now even though my Oneplus 5 still keeps up pretty fine with most things I do and still receives updates - still awaiting the latest Android OS promised upgrade - I'm now considering selling my OP5 to get the OP8 Pro, mainly due to the wireless fast-charging capability and IP68 rating.
I contacted Samsung because I feel totally scammed with my S20+ Exynos! They don't give a flying shit.

Why? New exynos 1080 (mid range) beats Snapdragon 865+ and top end will compete way better to 875, also to note they have have worked with amd for new gpus so things might change in 2021

If you can grab one from China but you'll have to make sure they open it and activate it with their sim card first before shipping.. since Middle East countries sell only Exynos version.

You missed something important. In fact the sensor on the Snapdragon model is the superior Sony sensor while theh the ISOCELL in house sensor on the Exynos. That explains the difference in photo quality better.
It's all about the SOC's on board processing. Not the image sensor. An image sensor just collects light. (Photons) and sends it to the SoC to be converted into an actual picture.
@@waycoolscootaloo of course the sensor is very important. Not all sensors are equal. Sony's sensor are better than Samsung. The petition mentioned in the video asks also Samsung to give up on their SoCs AND sensors.

And I would hope their just as good as Sony's, since many top rated Android phones choose to infact use Samsung sensors over Sony sensors.
The sensor isn't the issue. The Snapdragon version looks better, just because of better onboard image processing, as the video states.
Also the Snapdragon S20 Ultra and the Exynos S20 Ultra both use a Samsung ISO Cell for their main 108MP image sensor. The Snapdragon version takes better pictures strictly due to image processing, as both phones have the exact same software and software version.
Not actually, they have distributed all the sensors completely random and you can't say which phone have got which sensor, and the image quality isn't different between them, it's just ao unscientific and unfair to say it.

I was about to buy s20 global for $650 on eBay new as USA cost about $850 on sale unlocked. The global has only 8 ram the USA 12 ram. The USA come with 1 year warranty and global none.. would it worth to pay $200 more for USA model? Also USA for 5g

@@Lexu0707 actually no thermal throttling in s10 lite its more snappy then s20 in gaming sure and maybe other departments too . Battery life SOT easy over 11h on s10 lite which is impossible on exynos s20 even on 60hz display setting

exynos s20+ is not bad at all - moved from iphone x, so far i am very happy with it - battery wise i can get through the day no problems, moving between apps is butter smooth inlcuding all notifications - fps in games could be higher this is where snapdragon does outstanding job but since i have decent desktop i dont play games on my phone - overall s20+ is still a good choice IMO

I remember all the shit Apple got years ago when it came to light that they were using TSMC and Samsung to manufacture the A9 chip, and there was a very negligible difference in performance between the two.
This Exynos/Snapdragon difference is pretty stark in comparison, and I think Apple would be ripped a new one if they did the same. Samsung need to step up their game or stop shitting on consumers just to keep their Exynos manufacturing game alive. Ultimately an S20 from the US and an S20 from the UK should be comparable in spec, and we shouldn’t be seeing all these differences. I applaud people like Thetechchap for highlighting this because Samsung know full well that most reviews are coming from North America, and very little consideration will be made for the Exynos variants in these reviewers’ final conclusions.

This is exactly one of the big reasons why, after careful consideration and loads of comparisons, I have decided to return my Exynos S20 Ultra. Very underwhelming for the price overall. I was also wondering why my US friends are getting more battery life and different looking photos out of theirs. Here is the answer. Having a nice display is not enough to charge this money.

I bought the S20 plus with the exynos processor. This phone gets directly very hot with just scrolling trough the apps menu or using a simple app with every other function shut off. This is not acceaptable anno 2020. Samsung must do something about this!
Unfortunately where I live it's almost impossible to get the snapdragon version other than having to spend dubious amounts... its so rare in our market 😥

3:51 finally someone who gives real numbers. I got this phone 2 days ago and it literally needs charging at least twice a day with medium usage and if I do gaming, it needs to charge anywhere between 3 to 5 times a day. Before this I had a Redmi 3S prime which is now over 4 years old and I only stopped using it when I got this phone 2 days ago. Even that phone has a better battery performance. Obviously it is not fast enough or runs games like this device. But if u make a 20 storey building u need to build the base in context to that. This phone’s base is like a 4 storey building with 20 storey building structure. Returning it today. I don’t even feel like getting another phone. Most probably will keep using the Redmi for a few more months. It is really old but at least it’s not a scam.
