Just a handy tip if you don't have an adapter that fits your hose perfectly. I see a lot of 3D printed ones that address this problem and I see a lot of videos of people using ugly aluminum tape by the pound. Don't tape it AFTER you connect, tape the male adapter end BEFORE with blue painters tape. The simple answer to most of these misfitting hose to coupler is just build up about 1/4" of blue painters tape on the male end of any duct adapter, now slide the hose over the tape and, poof, perfect fit. In many case, don't worry about the clamps, just put enough blue tape on the adapter to it fits super snug, but if you want to clamp, you have this nice semi solid seal of the blue tape. All this talk about gaping of the hose when you clamp is taken care of.
Thanks so much for all your good information. Cleared alot up for me. I follow the guy who manufactures those parts and knew it was a good idea to use the system but wasn't sure how to put it all together. I plan on buying my glowforge within the month and will use your code.
Hi Jodi! Thank you so much for watching and for planning on using my code - it means a lot to me! I'm glad this was helpful and let me know if you have any questions in the future.
Thank you this was super helpful. I'm looking into purchasing one very soon. I have a question on how much dust does it produce? Where I need vent it from could impact my neighbors if it is very much. Thanks for your help.
Hi Judy! Glad this was helpful. In regards to how much dust it produces while venting outdoors... I haven’t had any issues with buildup on the outside of my house. It seems to dissipate in the air pretty efficiently. I have yet to notice any areas right outside my vent that would need cleaned. The odor is mild in my opinion as well but it is slightly noticeable outside while the machine is running. My connected neighbor doesn’t have any issues with it.
So i know the arrow on the top should be pointing towards your exit point but when i look inside the blades point towards my laser and the back of that point towards my exit is that right
Going to be using your referral code eventually. You were talking about when it gets cold, you should use a spray insulation on the back of your vent in your window. That would help keep it a little warmer. Great videos
Glad you went with the 6in fan ...now your next step is to make some sound absorbing panels for the back wall to reduce even more the sound reverb on the Glowforge area, they're simple to make and of course, you can find tons of TH-cam video on how make them ;) And just incase here are the links of Martinson who make the fan adapters: Sound test: th-cam.com/video/9juTGfL-fmk/w-d-xo.html How he makes the fan adapters: th-cam.com/video/7eKa1voxnz4/w-d-xo.html

Did you buy an additional 2 clamps for the window/hose part that attached to the glowforge? I used the ones that came with my glowforge for that and not sure if that’s why I’m still smelling acrylic when I cut. Thanks in advance for your help!
I didn’t buy any separate ones, I also use the ones that came with my Glowforge. I notice an odor of acrylic as well as anything else that I cut, so the in-line fan doesn’t make it go away completely, it just lessens it (in my experience!). :)
HI Catharine, I was wondering if you tried the Ducting Reducer Increaser Cone made by infinity. I am in the middle of creating a venting system for my k40. The one by LEAK FREE is a lot more expensive and I am aware from your video that you have tried many connectors. Did you try the one from Infinity? Hi there! Yes, I always take mine in and out of the window and only have it venting out the window when the glowforge is in use. Otherwise, I bring the vent back inside and close my window when I'm not using it. :)
Have you tested the noise level using a 6" exhaust instead of the 4" after the fan? I'm wondering if the noise level will go down with less back pressure in the fan.
