  • This is my inline fan setup for the xTool S1. I added a fan to reduce the smoke and smell in my machine and help push it out a window.

Thanks my S1 is arriving today.

So this won't affect the fan inside the tool, using an outside exhaust fan? I did this same thing, however I mistakenly bought a six inch fan. I spent about $24 at Home Depot for two adapters, way overpriced, just some metal reductions. I think they would've sold for $5 before Covid.
Anyway, I have it vented out the window as well. It works great, but I still get a smell.

Thank you, I just got my S1 and I have my other Xtool and my Mira and this drove me crazy! I saw this and light bulb went off. Why didn't I do this? LOL I am now!

Thanks so much, what I was looking for! Since I would be working from home, would it make sense to also use the purifier? Would you put it between the S1 and the fan or at the end...first S1 then fan then purifier before throwing it out the window? My window overlooks a passage where someone could pass. Thanks you

How did you attach the 3" hose to the reducer. It seems the hose does not fit in the 3" side.

You need to put a coupler over both 3 inch sides to hold them together. This gives it a nice tight seal, otherwise you are correct they won't fit together.

Hi! I am looking to get an S1 myself but I am very worried about how loud it is as I live in a 1st floor apartment. We have high ceilings but I am still worried that it will be too loud for my neighbors upstairs. How loud would you say is the s1? Is it louder than a vacuum for example?

It is loud when you are in the room. I use mine in my basement, it's unfinished so there isn't much insulation for noise and my family isn't bothered upstairs when I run it. I don't think you will bother your neighbors with this.

I am new to laser cutting and engraving....I think I have decided on the xtool S1 but am debating between the 20 and 40. Would smoke and smell be less of an issue with the 20 or is it more about the materials??

Probably a little less but not a ton, it's more about the materials. I have a 20w from another brand and still have a fan attached to help with venting.
