Non IIT Guy here. While growing up I never got the hype for IIT exams till I joined my previous company. There was a clear 5-10 year head start compared to folks who came from non IIT colleges. There's literally a job site that hires from IIM/IIT only. As a non IIT guy you're pretty much left with excess hard work to grow.

I didn’t know that IIT exist, Never heard any of the friend or schoolmate or cousin clearing it or even attempting it. Well there is other india within India MD majorly they don’t know any option to catapult their life. In digital era that is changing and we will see so much fo demand supply gap, cannot imagine what students will go through in next few years.

    • @Kathakathan11

Obviously I found it out after 10th grade, and many told me it is too late to prepare now, had just 1.5 year with me. No coaching classes in my hometown. Disinterested teachers who didn’t like IIT, they pushed their students to go for pure sciences.

@@336suryasunkaramech5 that’s doesn’t help a lot, not giving freedom in what to choose. We don’t have lot of scope in pure sciences in this country as well honestly. Thinking about pay scale they get, I better choose IT job. Only few make through all levels and actually work in research, others end up becoming teachers, underpaid and overworked in thankless jobs.
The main goal of my teachers was to not let us join any coaching classes. Now that’s nice, but in this world you are out of the competition if you say no to it I first place. I still wish they guided me enough to pursue BSC physics, they didn’t care after the school ended. And I was left clueless of what to do.
This happened with all the batches I know.

@@Kathakathan11 Well for sure ,but Engineering is very vague degree for 80% of engineers . Its just a qualification to work in any industry . You for Sure my friend , is doing something which you admire and may be get there in 5-8 years which is not vague . Rest of engineers , that I've met even in age group of 30-40 years old are scared from there skillset , even though they learn latest tech around requirements . So it might be scary for you to think about your life in particular field as absurd but niche skillset are hard to replace because mostly they come from person's ambition and passion .

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. Because some of non-IIT friends say that -'bro u have this amazing position, and u r not taking advantage of it...if i was in ur position,I would've this and that'. I believe most founders who are IITian they get success. But at the same time I think mostly Non IITians are at the top, so we can’t say who’s better. Firstly, cracking JEE and going to IIT is no big deal. So, if you think that you are in IIT and now rest of the non - IIT students are behind you, then you have my sincere blessings kid.
Secondly, it is just an unequal division that is made at the age of 18 or 19, after which even if a normal college guy learns all to much and a IIT guy who knows just the basics, then also the IIT one will be get the advantage, just because of the so called trash IIT tag.
Third, I have some so called IIT friends, which are dumb, so dumb that sometimes i wonder what type of education system we live in.
Fourth, the society problem, in which the society thinks and believes that... Oh, he/she is from IIT, must be very talented and a good person.
Fifth, your hard times and hard work that a non - IIT guy do even after knowing much more than them, is a good thing. It will eventually develop you, your character, your personality, your charisma, which almost every student from IIT lacks. So, don't be afraid of that.
Sixth, Even if you start at a package of 3 LPA, trust me, many has, many will and many had reached the much higher level, even if they are not from IIT. It was just possible because of their skill set.
Seventh, After 2 - 3 years of job, everything will depend upon you, whether the IIT guys will work for you or vice - versa. So, don't be so hard on yourself if are not from so called IIT.
Eight, People are earning, and 90% of them are earning much more than the IIT ones, i have seen them, met them, many were worried during their initial phase, but they did it.
Ninth, don't believe in the hiring of big companies, always remember that, they hire just to get the work done. Everyone is same for them, thay just don't want to spend much time hiring from normal colleges and i sometimes even laugh at such decisions, but its their choice let it be.
One day, they will hire you also. It is just a matter of 2 - 3 or 4 - 5 years max.
tenth, don't get disheartened by the fact that you are not from IIT, but be so good that the companies and other people can't resist you. Become Unbeatable.
(I am only criticizing the inequality issue with IIT's and not the students studying there)

@@parthdeshwal4419 no thats not the point. You are very young you won't understand it right now. With time as you will proceed you will understand everything. Another advice for you : focus on job oriented skillset from now onwards. It will be beneficial for you.
And don't make iit a hype, maintain and try to create neutrality between every college. Than only you will be able to self respect your own efforts.
      Good luck to you

1.Being iitian or non iitian doesnt have much advantage when it comes to earning money
2.yes when you worked hard to crack iit exam but still couldnt make it suckz i know the feeling
But in long run your personal goal matters lot what you want to become

Wat abt those who are interested in mech or elec or some other branches from within... Here IIT makes a huge positive for such students... Just writing watevr you feel doesn't make it right.

as a aspiring entraprur ,i have a question why iitian have not bulid any statup that become globally big like facebook, insta, microsoft, goggle ,twitter, linkdn, samnsung ,xaiomi, vivo, when they get funding easily and when some some start doing good like paytm and flipkart they sold to chinese or american caompanies nd we see news daily they lost tones of money they r always in losses like except zerodha and 1 or 2 bcz they r completly bootstraped ....

First and foremost reason is indians pursue education because of reputation not because people have real interest in the subject. Most people attend iits for the sake of brand tag and societal perception that's it. Such perception is ruining the startup culture where there is a race to seek valuation and not providing real value to the consumer. Another problem is with consumer base in India on large is still a poor country poorer than countries like Vietnam and Indonesia so the quality consumer base is really small most people can't afford quality products unlike Americans and Europeans. Hence we are still stuck with indianized American startup who provide only services not world class products. Too bad we still don't have a product company yet despite having such a large pool of IT engineers. I have mentioned all these things because I am an iitian myself (IIT roorkee) chemical engineering graduate and most of my batcmates are working in IT companies looking for an opportunity to go to USA (onsite) some already went for higher studies.

@@raghavrathore3698 thanks for your detailed answer but i think VCs and investors also know that anaylsis that india consumer base is only 3percent 98 percent r not using eccomece stuff they comes under lower middle class our avg income they knew that data but still after knowing this they give them overvalued or high valuation and money to burn even they r making losses for years like for ex nyka valued at 4.43 billion with a net profit of 2.5 cr this quat. ,paytm byjus loss tones of money nd many more all r overly valued thats bcz of vcs , same with zepto dunzo blinkit instamart all r running for rounds funding we cant get rich by selling stuff to each other we dont need investor from usa we need there consumer too...we need to invest in infra not only hard infra but soft infra like paymnt gateways, telecom, data centres, education nd healthsector and im not agree with your point that we dont provide world class quality look at the example of morbi in gujrat they have such an amazing inftra environmnt nd they r becoming global hub for tiles and related product for manufacturer nd there r many such exples that guys make way more btter profit without even lossing money but they r not celebrated..just bcz they r not frm iits iims isb so news platform dont cover that type of news here news platform celebrate fundings ...
