    I have a 2017 Lexus RX350 F-Sport. I have had it for 18 months. I have the Mica Gray color with red leather interior. It is an awesome vehicle. It is very comfortable, well made, solid, sporty and has great acceleration. I get a lot of compliments on it. It is very eye catching. You can't go wrong.

    I have a 2017, they are very nice! The front cup holder in the console is adjustable for depth. The safety systems such as the LKA stay on all the time once set to on. My mileage averages 20-22 in mixed driving.

    This is a pretty spot on review. I have a 2017 version. I love the vehicle but the 1 thing that I dont like, and its not a big deal, would be the laggy throttle like he mentioned. He's right when he said its not all the time but its almost like its trying to figure out which gear to engage. It reacts a little better in sport mode. The mouse system for the display screen is not too bad. You get used to it. I turn the force feedback up all the way and It feels more responsive.
    My Fsport also came with heated rear seats and a cell phone charging pad in the cubby under the stereo which this one doesn't seem to have. But more or less the exact same car.
    Good review 👍

    This is almost perfect I think. It just needs to be a little bit faster. The looks, quality, reliability are all world class.

    • @zzanatos2001
      @zzanatos2001 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It has 295 horsepower, goes 0-60 in 7.1 seconds, and still gets 26 mpg on the highway. But if you want something sportier, you should also check out the new Acura RDX. It's a turbo 4-cylinder and quite a bit smaller (and more fun) than the Lexus. They hit the market on June 1.

    It is true. I have the Non F-Sport version and the instrumental dash is different- separate speedometer and tachometer. The seats are also different. Mine is full leather wrapped semi-aniline. The steering wheel is also wood/leather with wood trim throughout. But I think the seats and wood trim are only luxury package. This model in video is not the full luxury one with all the amenities.

  • @tlee927

    truth: mpg on the gas models sucks, really badly. it never gets higher than 17 mpg.
    on the hybrid model though, it gets 28 mpg on avg. mine just got over 10,000 miles and the mpg has been very consistent.
    if anyone is considering this baby, i suggest that you get the 450h f-sport version. the dealer is willing to let you have it at the price of the 350 f-sport. 😃

    Audi of late has had excellent reliability. Considering most folks in this category will lease anyway, I can't see why the Q5 or SQ5 is not a much better choice than the RX. 16 mpg and lack luster trans is just not acceptable; Lexus is falling way behind in the powertrain category.

    Nice review! I do like the way the F Sports look over the standard RX, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to say "sporty" although my tester didn't have the additional Sport + driving mode the F-Sports have. Does that drive mode make a serious difference?

      @@MartinHannett_ what disadvantage does having a CD player have? It's just a little slot in the dash. Lots of people still have CDs. Most cars have cd players aswell

    • @MartinHannett_
      @MartinHannett_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you read my comment wrong, I supported there being a CD slot. CDs have uncompressed music, sounding incredible on these high end sound systems. I would say less than 5% of people actually know this and think CDs are somehow out of date.

    I've never been fond of the Lexus "spindle" grille design. It looks like an electric razor and a dreidle had a baby. And the grille on the new Toyota Highlander looks like Toyota took the screen off my patio door and bolted it to the front of the car. Good review, Matt. When is the Bullit getting delivered?

    • @FastSloW-qt8xf
      @FastSloW-qt8xf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why disappointed. You didn’t know what your real world mpg would be before your purchase. 20mpg in a 2 ton car with awd is normal at worst. My old 330 still gets 20mpg 17 years and 200k miles later. Which by the way my rx still looks ,drives, and feels the way it did coming from the dealer when new. You made a great purchase that will save you a lot of money over the years if you hold on to it.

    I'm starting to wonder if this is not a Toyota/Lexus thing when it comes to these transmissions. I feel the same way when it comes to my Rav4 Limited. It seems to be confused sometimes, especially when trying to merge into traffic from a side road at almost a dead start. It's almost like you need a running start. Crazy thing is, it seems to be very random at it's occurrence. Maybe it's just a safety thing to prevent unintentional acceleration, idk, but it's a little annoying.

    Sad to say it, but as much as I love this channel, I haven’t seen an increase in production quality (as I have with other channels) in quite a while. The branding change should’ve led to the videos becoming more professionally filmed and narrated as well.

    • @basicbodybuilding
      @basicbodybuilding 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rohan Iyer those are always the worst channels

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  6 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      High production quality equals more costs, less frequent uploads unless you want to hire help, and shrinking profit. This is why Motor Trend no longer posts videos on TH-cam along with a few others. TH-cam does not reward production value. They reward daily uploads and only care about the views and watch time. I’m a 1 man crew and want to stay that way if this is going to continue to be my only job.

    • @R21654A
      @R21654A 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would argue that an increase in production quality would bring an increase in overall views the same way it has for thestraightpipes channel. Definitely something to consider Matt! 👌🏼a refresh on the model of your reviews if you will 😂

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I wish that were the case, but higher production quality rarely increases views from what I’ve seen. Case in point, Doug Demuro has the most viral automotive TH-cam channel currently and he films with an old iPhone, a basic tripod and a cheap microphone. And no other automotive channel can get close to his views. It’s all about personality and subject matter, not production value.

    • @legionz5025
      @legionz5025 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Another example is Savagegeese. He has extremely high production value but doesn't get the views he deserves. His channel is growing but not at the rate you'd think. Keep doing what you're doing Matt. I honestly like your videos.

    The only obvious reason is dependability. Turbo vehicles dont last. This is a vehicle you put 300,000 miles on them with no problem.

  • @tsav6952
    @tsav6952 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mileage disappointments as well as the transmission especially for that price range. You pay a premium so over promise under deliver is not acceptable for the brand. I don't personally care for the infotainment screens that rise above the dash and block the view. even if slightly. But overall seems like a nice ride, but falls a little short for what you would pay up for in my opinion. Nice review!

      Until you drive one for a few years you just won’t get it. You buy any Lexus and your basically guaranteed at least 250k miles of trouble free driving

    My RX 2007 seems to have the same feeling in regards to mushy brakes and the transmission being tripped up from throttle inputs. Would have expected Lexus to improve such after 10 plus years.

    paying 10k more just for the brand, Rav is def a better daily driver

    • @zzanatos2001
      @zzanatos2001 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Rav4 doesn't have active lane keeping, adaptive cruise, panoramic roof, heated and cooled seats, adjustable drive modes, and a lot of other features that the Lexus has. And being a shorter wheelbase - the Rav4 doesn't ride as nice either. These things aren't that important if you're looking for a grocery getter - but if you regularly drive cross country, they make all the difference. (Try driving across Kansas on I-70 for six hours in a Rav4 fighting a crosswind the entire time, then compare it to driving in a Lexus with automatic lane-keeping. The level of driver fatigue is like night and day.)

      Not comparable. RAV is the cheaper cousin of the NX. RX and Highlander could be compared to a degree

    Can you stop mentioning sporty or fun to drive when you're talking about cars for mom's and sisters. I know that's your shtick, but doesn't matter on these kinds of vehicles

    • @zzanatos2001

      It matters to me. My wife and I always have a sedan and an SUV and we take turns driving both. Our next sedan is a new Audi RS3 or S4 , so we need an SUV that is not going to feel like a lumber wagon in comparison. No full-size crossover is going to be as fast as a scalded cat - but a little bit of sportiness (decent acceleration and handling) is a big factor for us - otherwise we would just get an Escalade.
