Burger King has lowered their standards heavily past 4 years . Every other fast food company in my state has upped its game except BK when it comes to fresh ingredients.
Sorry, they never had a standard. I’m 54 and worked at Burger King when the chicken had just launched. Looks exactly the same with the lettuce in 2021 vs 1979 when I worked there. Get it made special “no lettuce” and for extra order it with pickles
I haven’t had good BK in a decade. Their stores are filthy around here and the food is garbage. I loved the chicken sand and the Whopper when I was young. What happened?
First 5 seconds. “Today we cook for Max...” Last 5 seconds. “Sam Eats Max’s favorite childhood sandwich, reconstructed to a beautiful masterpiece, right in front of him.”
I like how Sam mentions kids shouldn't be touching raw chicken because they'll get it on everything; but he proceeds to touch and move the bun with raw chicken on your hands lol.
I love your work and your productions. I also love your ideas and how easy you make it look. Too many people are too afraid to try to make things from scratch but now I teach families of children how to cook mostly because I gained the confidence to do that from your shows. Keep on, keepin' on!
In defense for the foot lettuce if you got it delivered or through drive through, the longer you take to eat it the longer that heat will make the lettuce even more wilted. Same for when you refrigerate it. I never eat refrigerated lettuce from fast food burgers because of this. Edit. you did mention this around the end
"Number fifteen: Burger King Foot Lettuce. The last thing you would want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, that might be what you get."
I love this sandwich and still eat it. I was a big fan of the Italian parm version when they popped up every now and then. Best thing on the BK menu besides the whopper
The burger king chicken sandwich on the commercial looks good. But upon ordering a few everyone looks like it's been in someone's pocket from morning to lunch. Lol
I grew up in a very small mid-Michigan town and I was 16 when Burger King became the 2nd fast food restaurant in our town. So I applied there that summer and started working after school a few nights a week. This was 1996. I hated working there but man, I would make these sandwiches for myself to take home and I loved them. Sometimes I'd make a nice fresh one with some cheese and take it into the walk-in cooler and just smash it when we were slow. It was a much simpler time of my life...
I live about 45 min away from little Italy I’ve taken many trips to eat not not tacos And this last weekend I finally went to eat at sams restaurant grace. Words can’t do it justice The mash potatoes flat bred is crazy I’ve never done drugs before but I imagine sams food is as close to crack as I will probably ever get. Sliders are phenomenal everything is so well put together the environment is also very good. I’ve met Sam a few times in person and he is the nicest guy he Always takes times and talks to everyone treats all his employees w respect and jokes around always has a smile on his face things that you just enjoy seeing very humble just a great individual .IF you ever get a chance stop at not not tacos or grace you will not be disappointed 8 out of 5 stars 🙏🙏
I always had them add a slice of cheese. Then they started charging for the cheese. So I would take it home and add my own. But the deep fried chicken always wilts the mayo & lettuce.
@@wendy833 did you ever have the one with spicy sauce instead of mayo? i used to eat a ton of those when i worked for them 6 years ago, used to be so much better
Thank you for this! I love all your videos, and this sandwich was one of my childhood favorites as well. I am gonna make these on my next day off. I wanted to add that I was introduced to your channel by a great friend of mine. He told me that he learned to cook from you. Unfortunately, he had demons and took his own life. Whenever I see a new video of yours, I am always reminded of my buddy, and the good times.
I worked a summer at BK when I was 16. As others have mentioned, there is black pepper in the breading. Also, mayo on the crown to glue the foot lettuce down. When I worked there I'd throw cheese on top of the patty and some bacon on top of that. Fun fact: you can also get any sandwhich on the menu 'Whopper style". Guaranteed to piss of whoever is working the burger board (or specialty board, the area where the chicken sandwiches, Whalers, tenders, fries and rings are made).
The numbers on Burger King wrappers means the time it was put in the "heat chute". Burger king's sanwiches are only allowed to stay in the chute for approx 10 mins. The numbers 1-12 matches the numbers on the clock which means if the sandwich was put into the heat chute at 12:10 then they would mark the number "2" (As the numbers 1-12 are 5 minute intervals) and they would discard the sandwich after the 10 minutes. If the burger was marked "3" then it would of been made at quarter past the hour and "4" would be Twenty-minues past the hour. So if you are given a sandwich that is more than 10 minutes old then ask for a new one!
In regards to the numbers : When the sandwich is wrapped a slash is put on the number coinciding with the position of the second hand on the clock 1 thru 12 are the numbers. The Sandwiches have a maximum amount of time they can sit before being sold and this is their way to help quality control.
I worked at BK back in high school. The number is for the time that the sandwich was made. So, if I made the sammie at 1, I would mark 1. Every sandwich has an amount of time it can sit under the lamp before it has to be thrown away, so you use that marked number to determine the end of life for the sammie.
I remember the first and last time I ate one of those when I was about 7 years old in the 60's. I was on a road trip with my mom and we hadn't eaten all day and I was starving. We hit a BK and I saw one of those and wanted one just because it was big. I wolfed it down and blew chunks all over the inside of the car a few minutes later and I wasn't one of those kids who get sick easy and barf. I've yakked less than 10 times in my whole life but that one was a doosey. I don't think there was anything wrong with it, it just hit me funny for some reason but I can't stand the look of them today.
We have a brand of cereal here in Spain called Chocapic, and labeled from A to E in a nutritional scale, A being the best and E being the worst, it stands in a B. The thing is that we normally fill cereal bowls with, let's say, 100 to 120 g of cereals. The recommended serving portion is 30, 50 at max, and you have more than enough. Everything is good in the propper portion.
Key to get anything "good" at bk is asking for "off the fryer" or "off the grill." Takes a little longer but it's an actual coded instruction in their system. Fantastic video Sam!
Watching these videos is like that one episode of Spongebob when he had that cook off with Neptune. Burger King: Makes Millions of Sandwiches with less than great quality. Sam: Makes one sandwich that looks amazing.
Burger King near me puts rotten lettuce on their sandwiches all the time, I've complained and complained to them several times either to the manager or the receipt survey and still to this day they still put old wilted brown lettuce on their sandwiches.
@Randall Johnson their, their, poor thing. Why does one have to insult me because of the improper use of a word that people made up anyways. How smart is it to insult someone over things man made up? That’s really Super Dumb.
@Randall Johnson Oftentimes, if there’s a typo in a word like “there”, spellcheck will automatically “correct” it to whichever word it “thinks” you were trying to type. It’s not always that the typist doesn’t know which word to use, but that spellcheck doesn’t.
When the sandwich is wrapped a slash is put on the number coinciding with the position of the second hand on the clock 1 thru 12 are the numbers. The Sandwiches have a maximum amount of time they can sit before being sold and this is their way to help quality control.
The numbers 1 to 12 on the wrapper are to mark when it expires. When they're busy BK will make sandwiches ahead. They mark the number the minute hand on the clock will be pointing at when it expires.
I used to work at BK and the reason the lettuce was so gross is that they stopped using whole lettuce and started using bagged, pre-cut lettuce instead. This was corporate policy afaik. We used to cut lettuce at the beginning of the day.
Can't tell you how happy I am when I get notice of your uploads. Not so much for the recipe, but for the humor and family comradory. Great distraction from today's events. Cheers to you all!

I used to get food elsewhere and hit up McD's for that 99¢ large drink, cuz no way I'm payin $2.49 for a cup of soda.
@@WTFBazda try gas stations. 3 minutes from my house I can get a 79 cent giant ass soda
@@Battz With some McD menus you can choose 2x Fries instead of a Drink. I just drink soda from home.
@@MrAeRoZz it’s also probably cheaper to just buy the items on their own instead of as a group item. 2x fries do sound nice tho.
Thank you Sam for thanking Allen ... our grandson, Tyler, is in the Army ... thank you again and I love your channel!!!
Thanks for recognizing the troops Sam and crew. A salute is a sign of respect and in the proper context is acceptable if done properly. Thanks for all you do and being real guys!
Follow Sam and really enjoy a chicken sandwich. Forget KFC, McDonalds, Burger King cook simply with Sam and enjoy your food after all you earned it.
I haven’t had good BK in a decade. Their stores are filthy around here and the food is garbage. I loved the chicken sand and the Whopper when I was young. What happened?
@@MrCarnutbill67 you grew up and realized it was crap
Exactly
First 5 seconds. “Today we cook for Max...”
Last 5 seconds.
The bun then went in the oven, so who cares?
I'm sure there is editing to cut washing. They should do a "wash sam" like in the clips of good mythical kitchen series.
FYI SAM😌
In Soviet Russia, its capital offence to touch bread with raw chicken fingers.
at least he put it in the oven after
In old soviet russia, raw chicken bread touch you!
I love how they’re just casually talking for a few minutes and we’re just watching beautiful chicken fry
I love this sandwich and still eat it. I was a big fan of the Italian parm version when they popped up every now and then. Best thing on the BK menu besides the whopper
The parm one was killer. I haven't seen it in a while.
Or when they decide to just add bacon to it
The burger king chicken sandwich on the commercial looks good. But upon ordering a few everyone looks like it's been in someone's pocket from morning to lunch. Lol
You guys are the best! Made several receipies. Always a hit!! 🔥🍔🥩🥪🌮🥗🥟🍜🍱🍣🥘🧆🍳

Burger King foot lettuce. Would u rather have ur Burger King burger with foot fungus but that’s what you’lld get

Pitching Magic Spoon in the same video you're using Kellogg's cereal. 🤣
I live about 45 min away from little Italy
I’ve taken many trips to eat not not tacos
And this last weekend I finally went to eat at sams restaurant grace.
Words can’t do it justice
The mash potatoes flat bred is crazy I’ve never done drugs before but I imagine sams food is as close to crack as I will probably ever get.
Remember when they used to serve them cut diagonally
Yep. Me too!!
I always ask to have them cut it, its not the same. And this looks amazing. Will never eat that nasty sandwich again. Thank you Sam.
I always had them add a slice of cheese. Then they started charging for the cheese. So I would take it home and add my own. But the deep fried chicken always wilts the mayo & lettuce.
@@wendy833 me too...:)
Hey thank you for your service Alan!! If you guy’s read this you are appreciated and we are all so proud!
This sandwich is so nostalgic 😭
"We gotta bun in the oven, getting the seeds to stick"
The second part of that sentence doesn't help make it sound non-suggestive 🤣
These sandwiches are great when fresh but if not they always just make me sad lol homemade is always better
Thanks for this video, I kind of prefer this over their burgers, but I knew it could be a lot better. Going to make this over the weekend
In regards to the numbers : When the sandwich is wrapped a slash is put on the number coinciding with the position of the second hand on the clock 1 thru 12 are the numbers.
The Sandwiches have a maximum amount of time they can sit before being sold and this is their way to help quality control.
"We are doing this for Max" ... Doesn't let him do the taste test xD
He probably still likes the BK OG. I like them as well but they'll never be as visually appealing as the promo photos.
@Roman von Ungern Sternberg Probably the case for most re-imagined fast food.
ikr XD
This channel literally has all of the stuff I want to make. Thank you for having a good taste for food :-)
Watching these videos is like that one episode of Spongebob when he had that cook off with Neptune.
Burger King: Makes Millions of Sandwiches with less than great quality.
Sam: Makes one sandwich that looks amazing.
Fax I just thought about the same thing
Only Sam would worry about how another restaurant packages their food ("What do these numbers mean?"). LOL!! Love him!
Old war horse veteran really enjoyed this show, shout out to the troopers. God bless.
These were my favorite in my teenage years. I am now 44 and I will do this from now on!!
Burger King near me puts rotten lettuce on their sandwiches all the time, I've complained and complained to them several times either to the manager or the receipt survey and still to this day they still put old wilted brown lettuce on their sandwiches.
Gross
Eat somewhere else!!
The Numbers are for letting the Expediter know when to throw the sandwich way. So you don’t get one that’s been sitting their all day.

The numbers are for the "Holding" time on the sandwiches...
😮😮😮
Also one of the most ignored food rules in the place too.
As a former BK employee decades ago, can confirm. This was my favorite sandwich there, too.

I used to work at BK and the reason the lettuce was so gross is that they stopped using whole lettuce and started using bagged, pre-cut lettuce instead. This was corporate policy afaik. We used to cut lettuce at the beginning of the day.

The original chicken sandwich first came out in 1978. I was eating them in 1981, and remember them then as being a pretty tasty sandwich. Back then, they would cut the sandwich in half with a diagonal cut.
