Nice Service, though I would say that places like the Hinges, Peddle Hinge & Seatpost Clamps are places I would have liked to have seen included on a Brompton Service.
!!Nice variety on the channel this evening!! Great. Perhaps a little quick on the 3 speed hub gear set up. They are still a mystery to me!! Perhaps on another video. Great show tonight.👍🏻
I really enjoy the videos. Have been watching them at work when I have some down time or when I'm bored of working. Subscribed too. It looks like you don't rinse the bike before or after washing it. You just wipe off the dirty suds with a cloth. Seems like a simpler process for cleaning a bike indoors instead of having to wash it outside. I'll think I'll try that in the future.
Some people tell us we do it wrong some don’t, but it works for us and we’ve never had a problem with scratched paint or soapy water marks as long as it’s dried properly 🧡
Lovely to see a Brompton on this channel, great work as ever. All the best for the festive period Gents, and thanks a million for all the content this year. 👊
Thanks for all your support, with Christmas and a couple days off each we’ve had a nightmare getting the videos out but hopefully the consistency will be back soon 🧡
I have had my Brompton for 3 years and I must say it is still my favorite. Maintenance is incredibly easy which I have done many times over just for fun because it really is a joy to tune. I have gone as far as removing ALL the components within the internal geared hub just to see how it works and done this many times also. If you own a Brompton with an internal geared hub I wouldn’t bother dismantling it just for maintenance sake, all the times I have done this I noticed absolutely no wear - the hub is bomb proof. Love this bike
Wow Lee and Simon. Another level with the Brompton. Haven't had much experience with them and fancinating to see you apply your vast knowledge this this variety of bike too. Great job yet again and Happy Christmas 🎉
Nice job on the bike service! Two things about this bike stuck out for me, both about the front wheel: it has no quick-release system, and it's radial laced. Is that typical for Bromptons?
We do, however we can admit that it’s overkill even for us. It is the perfect product to use but not necessarily required. If you like things perfect it’s the thing to have 🧡
when you spray and wipe down the frame, what product is that, or is it just water and soap? love watching the videos, even though this is what i do for a living, lol
I used them on a single speed I built a few years ago, because I didn’t want the valve showing and overall they were superb! I wouldn’t run a serious bike on them but for a town bike they work. they are a tuff tyre to fit, expect to break a full sweat!
I'm surprised, that you take the shifter apart and use your standard slick cable. There are specific Brompton shifter cables with a smaller diameter cylinder at the end that fits through the hole next to the shifter lever without disassembling the whole unit.
I loved to see the attention used on this bike, but I wondered why the the guide wheels haven't got the skirts, like on my 6 speed? And as a first after buying my SuperlightM6LXBrompton in 2019, for the saved Vacation Money, I gave it all an Auto Polish and found out that the small "clear tape" Protection, pieces from the Factory had one been worn through to nearly the paint, after two or three folds, so I immediately ordered a full set of "protective plates" and a shield from China (The main supplier of of better and lighter Brompton accessories, as also Korea and Taiwan!). Since then I have changed and added titanium and carbon parts to reach a weight of about 8,5 kilo, and still with my mudguards. I expect to come down to, or below 8 kilo when finished? Finn. Denmark
The voiceover ran away with me a bit and I didn’t get to fully explain, the rider had gotten a puncture previously and gone to the nearest bike shop which didn’t have a new tyre in stock but did a short term solve and patched it up, but it inevitably needed replacing from a tare 🧡
Lovely job that. Bike looks great after some TLC. Never had a Brompton but I had a 3 speed, steel Dahon folding bike for a while. Weighed a ton but it was extremely well made and well designed.
Love my Brompton which is 21 years old still going strong ,another good video
Wow! Glad it’s treating you well🧡
Nice Service, though I would say that places like the Hinges, Peddle Hinge & Seatpost Clamps are places I would have liked to have seen included on a Brompton Service.
Not seen a Brompton worked on like that before, good job (again).
This is maybe only the 3rd one we’ve had in in 10 years!🧡
The magical bike, when you fold it and lift it into the boot of your car it seems to double in weight! 😂
Is that not all bikes lol
I need to take the front wheel out of my large bikes. So they get actually lighter and yet I prefer the brommie
!!Nice variety on the channel this evening!! Great. Perhaps a little quick on the 3 speed hub gear set up. They are still a mystery to me!! Perhaps on another video. Great show tonight.👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed this one, thanks for all the support🧡
The gear system reminds me of the legendary Raleigh CHOPPER
And the Grifter...oh, they were the days 😅
not the kind of bike i expected to see on this channel but i'm pleasantly surprised! cheers Lee and Simon!
It’s not one we often get in but we love variety🧡
Love it when i see a passionate bike mechanic/tech at work 👍 Happy Christmas
Happy Christmas 🎄🧡
Always a great watch, the workshop is looking fresh too
Thanks for all the continued support🧡

I’ve had the opportunity to ride a tandem bike that was similar build to this, so much fun. I love all bikes.
That’s the mindset we like to hear 🧡⚙️
Thanks Lee and Simon for another great video. Love the variety of bikes you service and your attention to detail. Again well done!
Thanks very much for all your continued support on the channel🧡
@@Bikespeeds My pleasure.

Very brave! Enjoy your riding and working 🧡
excellent job, thanks for reminding me I have to service my Folding errand/around town bike, not a Brompton, but needs worked on for sure. Drew.
Best of luck drew, thanks for enjoying another video 🧡
Good job!
Thank you!🧡
I wish the bike shop in Bristol took as much care of my Brompton as you do
Very kind thank you🧡
Great service as usal never owned a bromton but getting my vintage mtb today super stoked about that.
Hopefully it all went well for you!🧡
You guys are the best on servicing all types of bikes, I’ve learned a lot from you guys and standards to keep too, 😊
Thanks for the very kind words we really appreciate it🧡
Another great service looks like new.
Thank you!🧡
Awesome service I just noticed the wahoo mount on the bars, must be a damn quick lady 😂
She does some serious road biking!🧡
As New now, thanks for the great video.
Thanks very much David 🧡
great video!
nice touch with adjusting the brake levers as well, that's satisfied customer guaranteed!
The coolest of bikes.... would love to own one. One day 🤞🏻
It’s certainly got a lot of charm 🧡

Thanks for the very kind words, happy Christmas to you and thanks for all the support this year 🧡
Another great video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much Paul!🧡
Wow nice guys
Something different! 🧡
Nice work 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!🧡⚙️
Screws: when to lube/grease, when to blue Loctite, and when to leave them alone? (and if there are more options for them, when to?)
I noticed the tensioner wheels didn't have a double thickness. Are those ones not appropriate for a 3 speed?
Great video! I have a Brompton myself and I try to take real good care of it! :-) When do you think it's a good time to have it serviced?
Around once a year unless you use it more than average 🧡
Nice job on the bike service! Two things about this bike stuck out for me, both about the front wheel: it has no quick-release system, and it's radial laced. Is that typical for Bromptons?
We’ve only had a couple in the shop so couldn’t even tell you what is it isn’t usual!🧡
Love the videos 👍🏻 Just a question. What’s the best way to get a stuck seat stem out of a frame? Any good tips? Thanks
There is no best way! Lots of creative ideas and heat🧡
Do you use Autoglym Polar wash to wash bikes down? I've seen it on your shop page and assumed you decanted it into a spray bottle. Thanks
We do, however we can admit that it’s overkill even for us. It is the perfect product to use but not necessarily required. If you like things perfect it’s the thing to have 🧡

Haha yes we enjoy them too even though we just did the work!🧡
May I ask what this beautiful color of this Brompton is called? Is this lagoon blue?
We are unsure! Thanks for watching 🧡⚙️
Awesome :)
Thank you!🧡
Good video and nice detailed work, but for only £15 you should have replaced the rear sprocket at the same time you replaced the chain.
👍
I know its a different topic but what are your thoughts on tannus airless bike tyres?
I used them on a single speed I built a few years ago, because I didn’t want the valve showing and overall they were superb! I wouldn’t run a serious bike on them but for a town bike they work.
they are a tuff tyre to fit, expect to break a full sweat!
@@Bikespeeds Thank you for the fast reply,Less maintenance will be worth the sweat 😅
Looks like you torque everything the same torque setting
I'm surprised, that you take the shifter apart and use your standard slick cable. There are specific Brompton shifter cables with a smaller diameter cylinder at the end that fits through the hole next to the shifter lever without disassembling the whole unit.
Was just thinking about this same thing, as a regular Brompton mechanic on a shop that imports these in Finland.
This wasn’t a standard cable but one of our own with a narrower diameter end. We always like to open them to check and address lubrication if needed.
Why was the front tire changed, it looked like it had a lot of meat on it?
The voiceover ran away with me a bit and I didn’t get to fully explain, the rider had gotten a puncture previously and gone to the nearest bike shop which didn’t have a new tyre in stock but did a short term solve and patched it up, but it inevitably needed replacing from a tare 🧡
How much was this full service?
Lovely job that. Bike looks great after some TLC.
Never had a Brompton but I had a 3 speed, steel Dahon folding bike for a while. Weighed a ton but it was extremely well made and well designed.
They’re a marvel of engineering in all honesty, they might look clunky to some but they’re a real unique bit of kit 🧡
Enjoyed something a little different, should be able to get the knee down with a nice smooth headset!
It was a fun one to tune up, what we established is that this was never set up well, and had no major problems, but nothing was right 🧡
Is that a city bike? What is that? Why would you need that?
This is a city bike designed to fold up for the london tubes and trains 🧡
first
now the only type of bike that seems to be missing is enduro/downhill bikes.
Almost everything now!🧡
It was hardly 'Wrecked', why the misleading thumbnail title?
Next project: An integrated cloaking device so that nobody ever sees you riding a Brompton folding bike
Lol they’re very fashionable in the city!
