    Hope you like the build guys, I added a bit about creating flat ground at the start of the video for the people that have asked.
    There are a few good features in this base you could use in your own builds like the spiral staircase and the portal room.
    I tried to create some depth to the walls using the double arches, the open archways with the iron gates are like windows or easy access :)
    I thought having the portal room connected to the port would be good, you can have a travel hub where you can move to your other bases from one place in your main base.

    Dear Pilgrimz,
    when i see a building guide with 1h 13m, i know i can rebuild it 100% cause i know you take your time to show and explain your stuff. i want to say thank you for making very clearly building guides. you are the real one, every other build guide takes 8 minutes and they are skipping half of the building content, that frustrates me very much but you make a very good job, thank you!

    Love the build! For the roof, you might consider this: For the first layer, snap a horizontal half beam rotated 90' to one of the parallel 45' beams, and then snap a roof segment so half goes outside the 45'. Snap the second roof segment to the first, so they overhang the 45's. Do that all the way around. Then fill with two overlapping roof segments rotated one tick. It makes a really pretty smooth first layer. Then for the second, continue the two pieces between the parallel 45's all the way around, then fill with three overlapping roofs rotated a tick.

    I've built 2 of your builds so far, the long house, and the blacksmith. Though I have upgraded them slightly, and have decorated them differently as well.
    Working with those two builds have helped me understand the building mechanics so much more than anything else, and I'm actually going to tear down the long house down to the studs. So I can rebuild it, I messed up in a couple areas, and the structural integrity of the build isn't where I would like it to be. Other than that, I really appreciate these videos, keep doing a great job, and keep building. Valheim is an amazing game.

    Man i love this game, so far i've build a blacksmith and a boat house with a storage room connected to it, next step is to build docks and a "boat building area" then i might raise the ground in the ocean to make a bay area with a bridge where ships have to go under to reach my harbor ^^ if you can can you make like a stone building in combination with wood for a "main house/mead hall" or update yours with stone.. It's from seeing stuff like this that i get my ideas! Wish i could send you some screenshots of my builds so far.

    Good build, but the ring of iron poles around the top outside serves no purpose but to waste iron. Unless you like the look then I don't judge. I built it without a lot of the iron pole placements he has by testing different areas as I was building. It doesn't have to be that expensive with iron for those planning on legitimately building it and don't wanna take multiple trips to the swamps if you don't have the resources already.

    I do appreciate these build guides so very much, the only thing I dislike is how much of a wasteland my entire map looks farming for their build cost and how there is a total lack of cohesion between the individual buildings... like, these buildings themselves are extremely aesthetic to look at, but seeing them beside each other without any layout planning going on they are more like a random selection of buildings haphazardly dropped beside each other instead of what would even remotely resemble a village. However that's not a criticism of these videos, so it's neither here or there, sorry for rambling, just a comment with my like for the algorithm. :)

  • @Dragnous420

    Be aware while leveling or mining ground tho, because every pick axe hit or hoe level counts as an entity in game, so mining out or leveling a huge area will cause a bit of lag as if there is a large building there. The way it deals with the ground deformation is a little odd, its as if each hit or leveling click counts as a placed item technically.

    • @AdonayFloresLaMota
      @AdonayFloresLaMota 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      God dammit no wonder my base is laggy.. thats so stupid that it counts as entities!!! Hope they change that.

  • @duukdkarn7031
    @duukdkarn7031 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would advise against modifying the ground at all or as little as possible. Each small block of dirt modified in this way creates instances. These can be viewed by using the F2 key.
    Every instance created adds to resources required to load when character gets in render distance; large numbers of instances will increase lag and load.
    By removing all that dirt, you have just added 1000+ instances to the build before you even added a single piece and there is no fix for this once the ground is modified.
    I have found that its just as easy find the highest peak of dirt in the area you want to build and just place stone foundations stacked in the holes around that to make the ground level. This adds much less instances and you can remove them if you decide to later and reduce the instances. With wood builds, its easier to do with the support beams and raise the building slightly off the ground.

    Great build, it looks fantastic sat next to my dock. I would just like to give some constructive criticism;
    The amount of iron in this thing is INSANE. A lot of it isn't necessary to keep the building standing. I feel a lot of the beams are more for aesthetics. That's fine for creative but not in survival, which I imagine most of your viewers are creating this in. It would be easier to follow if only the stability-critical beams were included.
    The whole video could be a lot shorter if there were less zoomy flyby shots after each step and maybe cut the clips shorter in general.
    But yeah overall great job and love the video format otherwise.

At least this gives me ideas not only for a Portal room structure as I just about got like 20+ portals going all over the place to different islands. But just watching this gives me ideas for structural stability in building my 20x20 Pyramid on a small private in straights between 3 big islands and close to the plains and see the other 2 islands well.

Terrain seems to be the best against the buggers since they can 1-2 shot a longship. The skeeters tend to be more interested in you than buildings, but my experience is limited.

    I built this as well as the docks. On multiplayer. I also found an easier way to do the staircase. Flawless no jumpy up. Just glide up and down. Hahaha.

    Can we hire construction crews and architects to build grand bases? :)

    Wouldn't that first roof be prone to leakage because it seems it would trap water up there, like alot.

    I loved this build as well, but must admit I really struggle with that staircase, not because of you video lacking any information, but I can't seem to get them to connect in the way you manage :P Apart from that, building this castle and the boathouse have given my village a big upgrade :D :D

    i really want to build some of these things in survival, the the iron cost for all those poles is really hard to keep up with :/

      There’s a seed I’ve been using and I’ve found a ton of crypts in the swamp, if you’re okay with going to different worlds and bring recourses back I could share it.

      @@vertxhive2773 i have a world with quite a few crypts. i picked the seeds because of it. its just annoying to gather it in the quantity needed for the video. its more than a full chest of iron ingots. probably about as much as a full long ship of iron

      @@vertxhive2773 i was able to build the entire thing with no collapsing with only using the wood iron poles that were used to support the spiral stair case.
